Off to a good start! Sounds like he got the Bondian flavor right, or at least the orchestral arranger did. It'll be interesting to hear what he does with it, vocally. (I remember the backing instrumentation for "AWTD" sounding good -- someone spotted in a commercial for one of the product tie-ins -- but the vocals didn't match the rest once added in).
I also like the visuals in the clip: looks very dark, steely & monochromatic, and disorienting. Wonder if it's part of Kleinman's work in the opening titles.
Dave
Probably the music video (presumably also coming Friday, Smith confirmed they did one), which I won't be surprised if it's inspired by the titles or even directed by Kleinman.

Agreed. If you already hate the singer, you're more likely to hate the product no matter what it sounds like ("I have to hate it - everyone else does!").
I had no opinion on Keyes & White doing a Bond song until after I heard their attempt.
I for one am willing to take a chance on being surprised by Smith despite the vitriol and invective being laid on him already.
Hate is such a strong word to describe someone who I am indifferent to at best. I don't know the guy, nor do I like or dislike him. However, what I would say is that when an artist or group is announced as singing the next Bond theme, if I am unaware of their work, or they're not to my musical taste, I will make a point of trying to listen to their music. In this case, I have done exactly that, but I genuinely cannot even remotely gel with his voice or style. I did not intend for my previous comment to offend, it was merely a joke.

I will only like this because it's a Bond theme. I know people will do the same, or maybe find it hard completely. It's just down to taste I suppose. As with Adele, I'm not a fan of her work but I'll support her contribution to 'Skyfall' and the overall Bond experience without question.
More because it's my duty as a fan of the franchise than of music so officially nothing can be "bad" for me, just "different".

Apologize if this was mentioned elsewhere, but why isn't this available for pre-order yet n the United States? I can't find it on iTunes or Amazon.

Or they'll do what they did with Skyfall and filter segments of the MTS with the lyrics superimposed over it.

It says the CD will be available Oct 30th with no mention of the mp3. I'm having a hard time believing the UK gets this one month before the US.

I'm most curious about Disclosure's contribution. Is there going to be a electronic breakdown with massive sub bass and skittery high-hats, or something?

I like it. You can almost see the helicopter shots Bond driving to his destination.I'm most curious about Disclosure's contribution. Is there going to be a electronic breakdown with massive sub bass and skittery high-hats, or something?
I think they said in an interview it's a very small contribution , some sort of slight additional spacey sound so it's not just pure orchestra.

This orchestral bit really impresses me with its old school flavour.

I'm very interested to hear what Disclosure's contribution sounds like. As much as I want a classic-sounding Bond theme like Skyfall was, it will be nice to hear a few modern touches added to it. I'm guessing they'll get a credit for their work in the titles too.

Unlikely. Had they contributed more than just production they'd have featured on the official announcement. As it was they broke the news of their own involvement. This will not sound like a Disclosure song IMO.

Reminds me of Barry's sedate late-70s scores. If someone told me it was a Moonraker outtake, I might believe it.
my thoughts exactly. it has that old school vibe going with it,
I like it so far

Sounds a bit bluesy to me - and also a little bit like the opening bars of "The World Is Not Enough", without the guitars.
And no drumbeat, which is unusual. Wonder if they'll come in later as with Skyfall.

"Skyfall" was launched on 007.com. Do you think (or have any idea if) Writing's On The Wall will be available there also or just those who pre-order it will get it first hand?

It should go up on Sam Smith's YouTube, 007.com and related social media channels on Friday. The pre-orders will only be available to download on Monday.

Launch should me 00:00 BST (UK time) on Friday (that's on Smith's YouTube). I'm expecting the song to go up on the US iTunes store at the time you say above.

At least you guys should be able to download it actually apart from the rest of the world who'll have to wait till Monday.
