I agree its bizarre that they would reboot a franchise with the same lead actor (Schwarzenegger). And you would think they would close the chapter on that story before rebooting so they must have something really interesting up their sleeve or at least I would think.

I think Paul Rudd definitely could make a good Ant Man. I just like Paul Rudd in general, and I think he could definitely do it. I am excited.

Denzel Washington is being considered for John Stewart Green Lantern. I think they are adding too many characters in here.. Isn't this supposed to be a Batman and Superman movie not the whole Justice League.. yet.

Hmm I am not sure how I feel about this.

I sort of like that idea, actually.  I think I read somewhere in an interview with Zack Snyder that now that the events of MoS made the world aware of an alien superhero, others would now come out of the woodwork to reveal themselves.  A goddess--Wonder Woman, a human with alien technology--Green Lantern, and, of course, the human, Batman.

The thing with DC is most of their super heroes are alien or using extra-terrestrial technology, save Batman.  Whereas Marvel is the opposite--all its cinematic superheroes are human--Tony Stark, Romanova, Hawkeye, or given superpowers via human technology--Hulk, Captain America--the one exception in their universe being Thor.

It's just that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is so far ahead of DC/WB's--there's Cap 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers 2, Ant-man--four movies all coming out or in production while the next MoS/Batman/Justice League movie is still casting.

It seems well cast.  I'm a bit concerned that they may be straying too far from Clancy source material, and that they postponed the release date from Christmas to January 17.  Usually not good signs...

Wow, that's...wow.  I kind of wish Hank was Ant Man over Lang, but at the same time Douglas is great and it's nice to see the character get an actor like that to portray him.  I think Pym has been shafted since that story where he hit Wasp, with new writers preferring to label him a wife beater or crazy.  But he was there in Marvel's beginnings, and an Avengers founder for crying out loud, so I hope the movie does him a bit of justice.

Surprising - and yet not surprising at all, since this is really gearing up to be the Justice League movie.

Hopefully during this extra time they'll realize that they need to scale this thing back.  It needs to be what the original idea appeared to be (and what the title currently suggests), which is a film that is about Batman and Superman.  Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, and whoever else should not be in this film.

I'm also hoping that perhaps the studio will wise up and decide on a new director for this film, now that they've been forced to delay it.  They currently have a ridiculously talented director wearing the Batsuit, one who actually gets better performances out of himself when he's in the director's chair.  Why not give him a crack at this thing rather than a director who has a countless string of mediocre-at-best films to his credit?

Granted, I know that none of this will actually happen.  It appears that everything is full-steam-ahead for Justice League (formerly known as Batman vs. Superman) arriving in May of 2016.

Mitt (2014)

Greg Whiteley's documentary surrounding Mitt Romney's roughly 6-year run for the office of President of the United States, a Netflix Original Documentary out today on the service, takes a different approach from what one would assume to get out of a political documentary about a recently concluded presidential campaign.  Smartly, Whiteley assumes that we know how things went down in terms of the political side of the equation, and gives little screen time to the talking heads and pundits (only showing them in stock footage from the various debates and various coverages), and instead focuses on the Romneys as a family, and shows the highs and lows of the campaign on a personal level.  We see the Romneys laugh together, do ordinary family things together (the film opens with the Romneys and their children and grandchildren sledding in a snowy field), and cry together, all against the backdrop of one of the more heated elections in quite some time.  It's interesting to see how a family navigates such a process and the toll that it takes on them, all while needing to keep up a happy front, even when that's not the case, while under the scrutiny of the public.  Whiteley does a good job of showing Mitt Romney in as close to a natural environment as he can possibly be while both being on the campaign trail and in front of a camera 24/7, and really only breaks the fourth wall to speak to a couple of the Romney sons a couple of times during the film to get there perspective on the pitfalls of the campaign.  Otherwise, he generally stays out of the way, and instead just films what happens behind the scenes, and it's an interesting thing to watch unfold.

3/5

That is actually a brilliant trailer.  And Brosnan looks totally relaxed and happy to play this role.  I loved the book.  The film seems to have succeeded!
