So this could feature new actors in Terminator roles

I suppose that the film could feature some new actors in the roles of various Terminators if they decide to have a film that features multiple Terminators, but Schwarzenegger is set to star in this rebooted Terminator.  Sounds like he's being given a pretty hefty payday to do so as well, as his paycheck is being split three ways between the two producers and Paramount.

...wow!

I wonder if Arnie will play the human model of the Terminator who fights alongside the resistance maybe, almost against CG version/s of himself as teh T-101.

As the Terminator skin can't really age, he'd be pushing it now to play the same model as the previous 3 films had.

It's exciting to think about a new life injected in the series and to have Arnie back, more than that CG enhanced version in 'Terminator Salvation'.

I would imagine that would be something we'll probably see at some point, either with Arnold playing a human or his Terminator from T2 & T3 up against other, younger-looking versions of himself.

I'm not sold on this reboot, though.  Yes, Terminator 3 and Terminator Salvation were flawed films, but I don't think they did much damage to the overall plot progression of the series as it heads towards the end of the war against Skynet.  They could easily just pick the next film up in the middle of the war and pretty much ignore everything that happened in Terminator Salvation if they wanted to.  It was easily the weakest film of the bunch, but at the same time it wasn't bad enough to warrant scrapping the whole thing and starting over.

I'm not on board with a reboot, I just don't see the point to it. Have they ever rebooted a series before with the same lead actor?

I don't see the point in it either.  And I really don't see the point in doing a "stand alone" trilogy that, as the phrase would imply, has nothing to do with the first four films.  They could just as easily have Schwarzenegger fit right into the current, post-Terminator Salvation timeline and have him play, as already suggested, a human character that serves alongside John Connor that Skynet eventually uses as a physical model for the Terminator.  I have a feeling that this trilogy will feature a lot of treading back on some of the plot points we've already seen covered, as the proposed plot that I linked to a week or so ago seems to indicate that Terminator 5 could end up being basically The Terminator, but set in the 1940s.  I'd say just keep moving forward and work Schwarzenegger into the current timeline instead of hitting the reset switch on the whole thing.

Right now, I have the impression that the story has already been told - it ended in TERMINATOR 2.

T3 was more or less a replay with a nice cliffhanger ending that changed the timeline. T4 tried to get on with that. But somehow, what else can a Terminator-film show but any kind of Terminator trying to kill someone who is important enough for a possible future? It´s been there, done that (too often). I would rather have Schwarzenegger totally removed from the new films so that a really fresh start can be achieved.

They could move things forward and actually show the war between humanity and Skynet as shown very briefly in The Terminator and T2.  With Terminator Salvation showing John Connor making a name for himself within the resistance, the stage would seemingly be set for them to show the war being fought full on and showing Connor actually leading the resistance, an inevitability we've been told about over the course of now four films and 28 years.

I just can`t wrap my head around it. A reboot with the same lead actor? I mean they might as well finish the series with T5 and Arnold then reboot it with a younger lead. I would think they could finish it in one film.... Arnold is 65 and they plan to do a trilogy with the Terminator pushing 70? That would be like rebooting the Indiana Jones series and having Harrison Ford play Indiana Jones again.

Val Kilmer’s idea for a sequel to Michael Mann’s ‘Heat’

I have an idea for a sequel to “Heat.” Here’s my pitch: Do you remember Natalie Portman in it? Pacino’s adopted daughter? So, she comes home and says Daddy, Daddy, I want you to meet my fiance! and it’s me. Because he’s retired, and I come to Chicago, where he’s retired back to, and I’m gonna torture him and I’m gonna kill him. It’s a mind game. http://www.deathandt...-manns-heat.../

Well he's not a writer but get some decent screen writers on it and maybe it could work. I wouldn't mind a sequel if Mann was back with Kilmer, Pacino, Portman and Ashley Judd. I figured if there was ever a sequel it would be about Kilmer running his own crew and Pacino coming out of retirement to help catch him.

For some films, a sequel can and will work. Heat is a film that ended perfectly and a sequel would just be terrible.

If Michael Mann wanted to make a new film with Al Pacino, Natalie Portman, and whoever else, then that would be fine, but there's absolutely no reason to make a sequel to HEAT.  HEAT is, IMO, pretty much a perfect film and it should be left as is.

There's also the logistical problem behind Kilmer's idea, given that Pacino's character and the character who is Portman's mother in the film split by the end of the film.  It doesn't seem like Pacino has much of a relationship with Portman beyond simply being a male figure in her life who hasn't constantly disappointed her at every turn, so I can't really see where Kilmer's idea would even be able to be believable as a sequel to HEAT.

"Bulgarian news sources confirm Mel Gibson and Steven Seagal for EXPENDABLES 3??!"

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/63147

I'm looking forward to this. Should be epic. Sure many of them are past their prime but its all in good fun.

Mel Gibson, Steven Seagal, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich. Mickey Rourke is also returning.

I wont be surprised if they do a 4th and a 5th film.

Sounds a better cast than 'Expendables 2' - and that was a decent cast! As long as Schwarzenegger pops up I'll be happy.

Ben Affleck to Star in David Fincher's GONE GIRL!!!

It looks like David Fincher's next film is finally moving forward, according to Deadline. After trying for awhile to get a new version of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA off the ground for Disney, it looks like he's moving on to adapting Gillian Flynn's highly-accalimed bestselling book, Gone Girl, and Ben Affleck is in talks to star.

The story is about a husband whose wife mysteriously disappears on their fifth anniversery, and he winds up the top suspect in the investigation.

The female lead has yet to be cast, but The Wrap is reporting that Natalie Portman, Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt are all being considered.

gone_girl_big.jpg

Affleck's work on this film means that filming on his next directorial project, which will be an adaptation of Dennis Lehane's book, Live by Night, would be pushed back, but is anticipated to still make its desired release date in late 2014. Live by Night follows the son of a police captain as he gradually becomes more and more involved in an organized crime ring.

I haven't read Gone Girl, but from what I understand, the truth about the lead character's guilt or innocence is kept pretty vague, so it sounds like it could be right up Fincher's alley. Thoughts?

I just might check out this book, guess this means Fincher wont be doing The Girl Who Played With Fire next.

UPDATED! Is the announcement of another PREDATOR film going to come this weekend at Comic-Con!?!?!

On the official Facebook page for PREDATORS, they have revealed the following image:

predatortease_large.jpg

So the infrared (or "Predator Vision") poster is showing San Diego, and Comic-Con just happens to be this weekend. Logic seems to indicate that this will lead to the announcement of a new Predator film.

Robert Rodriguez has talked about a sequel to 2010’s PREDATORS over the last three years.  Plus, the film made $127 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, so it made a little bit of money. Fox is also teasing a major surprise at their Comic-Con panel this weekend so this could mean that the announcement of a sequel to PREDATORS is imminent. It could also mean an announcement of a new video game or something else entirely. There is a lot of smoke though, and hopefully we will get some fire this weekend.

I had a lot of fun with PREDATORS and only a small portion of Robert Rodriguez’s original script was filmed so hopefully it will be a direct sequel and not another reboot. Some other AICN writers are speculating that we may finally get the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger to the series. This would make sense as he has committed to future installments of every other one of his franchises and I am sure Fox would love to make the PREDATOR 2 we never got. I will just be happy with the announcement of another PREDATOR film though.

Judging by that teaser poster, could the lead to it being set on Earth again? I wouldn't mind it, but I loved Predators, for the fact it was on their planet. Either way it's great news, because I love the series and if Rodriguez returns that's another huge plus. Hopefully this will be out by next summer.

Loved The Da Vinci Code, thought Angels & Demons was okay, hope this is better than the first two though. Regarding Predator, It isn't a sequel, which breaks my heart.

It's getting a 3D release on Blu-Ray.

In other film news, Christian Bale's new film, Out Of The Furnace, which features a great cast in Woody Harrelson, Casey Affleck,Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker, and Sam Shepard. Looks very good.

Glad to see that it's been confirmed...again.  ;)  :)
Gibson's inclusion in this makes it probably my first must-see of 2014.

Also, the French trailer for THE FAMILY (or MALAVITA, as it's known over there) was released today.  Features more violence than the first trailer (or at least more direct views of violence rather than violence of the implied variety) and more Tommy Lee Jones:

And apparently THE FAMILY has had another change in its release date, according to the two new stills released on its official Facebook page.  It'll now be released on September 13 in the US.

FIRST LOOK AT GODZILLA; http://www.aintitcool.com/node/63279

Marvel wants Joseph Gordon-Levitt as DOCTOR STRANGE!?!?
According to Latino-Review, Marvel executives are discussing the possibility of offering Joseph Gordon-Levitt the role of the comic sorcerer.

Is Warner Bros. Rebooting the Batman Franchise with Batman Beyond?

Ever since Christopher Nolan completed his Dark Knight trilogy last summer with The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. has been trying to figure out what to do with their planned Untitled Batman Reboot. They've considered reintroducing the popular DC Comics character in Justice League, there was then talk that Ben Affleck might write and direct a new version of the legendary superhero story, and some even speculated that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Robin might take over the franchise.

Now comes word that Warner Bros. is planning to adapt the 1999 animated series Batman Beyond into a live action adventure as their way to next cash in on the vigilante superhero.
NEAi98QqfFq1DC_1_3.jpg

The animated series followed the exploits of teenager Terry McGinnis, who picks up the mantle of Batman in a futuristic Gotham City (dubbed Neo Gotham), with a much older Bruce Wayne serving as his mentor. The series ran from 1999 to 2001 on The WB network (now The CW). It is also the title of an ongoing DC Comics series still in publication.

This news should be taken as rumor for the time being, but there is speculation that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who played John Blake (aka Robin) in The Dark Knight Rises could be used as a substitute for McGinnis and that Christian Bale could return as the older mentor Bruce Wayne, even if it is a glorified cameo. That scenario is, however, very unlike as Christopher Nolan is done with the Batman universe.

It is stated that Justice League would still focus on the Bruce Wayne version of Batman, with this adaptation taking place in a future that was inline with what we see happen in that film and the rest of the DC film Universe, including Man of Steel and its upcoming sequels.

This is reportedly not the only Untitled Batman Reboot idea on the table. What do you think? Do you want to see Batman Beyond in the flesh and on the big screen?
Untitled Batman Reboot comes to theaters in 2015.

Okay so a couple things to say about all of this movie news.

1. I think Godzilla would be a good thing to reboot. CGI is so much better than what it used to be so I could see this Godzilla reboot being pretty good (CGI wise)

2. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Doctor Strange really? I think that's a poor cast. I think Daniel Day Lewis would be a much better choice so I am hoping that this is just a stupid rumor.
