No it won't. I know this because my dorm building is 13 floors of girls and I heard them talking about twilight tonight, so there is no way twilight will beat out skyfall which is very depressing. I will probably end up seeing twilight because my mom is obsessed with the movies so she will want me to go with her. That being said even after seeing Skyfall twice, I want to see it again. It is that good.
Dont betray 007. Vampires or the ultimate spy. It wont be that hard

US Box Office
First Wednesday
Casino Royale -> 6.5 million
Quantum of Solace -> 3.3 million
Skyfall -> 5.5 million
Through first Wednesday
Casino Royale -> 55.7 million
Quantum of Solace -> 79.0 million
Skyfall -> 114.6 million
Another great number. However I think that dailes will be no more than 3m next week. 225m is gurantee but I doubt if it can reach 250m in USA.

Still higher than Casino and Quantum and it'll make up some this week with Thanksgiving. Part of the reason (I believe) Casino beat it on Wednesday and Thursday is because of the holiday.

The Twilight box office proves this franchise doesn't extend beyond its established fanbase.
and in comparison
with SF I saw lots of new people who never were interested in Bond before but wanted to go see it 1 more time!

Some believe there is a mistake in Deadlines's numbers.
$12m to $13m for Friday, with a projection of $41m to $43m for the weekend, might be more accurate.
We will see as more info comes in.

http://www.deadline....es-at-midnight/In 2nd place, Eon Productions/MGM/Sony Pictures’ James Bond #23 actioner Skyfall looks down 60% from its big opening for an $12.3M Friday and $40.4M second weekend. That’s a bigger hit than the studios anticipated and brings its North American cume to about $160+M in just its first 10 days of release. All in worldwide, MGM/Sony expect the Sam Mendes-directed, John Logan-scripted, Daniel Craig-starring pic to make $800M as the biggest 007 movie ever (not adjusted for inflation or higher ticket prices or IMAX premiums). Studio execs felt that the reason for Skyfall’s success (preventing the Bond franchise from jumping the shark after the dreadfall Quantum Of Solace) was because the characters were richer, deeper, and more flawed. Plus, the addition of Javier Bardem - who received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame timed to the film – made Skyfall less white bread so it was a better reflection of today’s world. After 4 years on hiatus, the studios had to win back hardcore 007 fans while expanding the franchise’s appeal to younger moviegoers through MTV, Comedy Central, and ABC Family and ethnic audiences through BET, Telemundo and Univision. The marketing campaign started early with big events, like the high profile Bond integration during the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics featuring Daniel Craig and the Queen. Most of all, the studios promoted Skyfall through the fact that 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of 007 on film – including a TV blitz of ads that aired in early October on the anniversary of the premiere of Dr. No. Global James Bond Day was marked with the launch of Adele’s Skyfall theme song, which execs felt was a major draw – “massive and moody and sexy and perfect”. There also was a Bond-themed charity auction at Christie’s in London, a retrospective of all 22 previous Bond movies at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, a Music Of Bond night at the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles, a 50 Years Of Bond Style exhibit at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the premiere of the documentary Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story Of 007. On TV, Daniel Craig hosted SNL while the film was promoted on 60 Minutes. Overseas, the cast toured Moscow, London, Paris, Zurich, Madrid, Berlin, Rome, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Sydney, and Johannesburg, which accounts for the big grosses overseas.

Pretty amazing for sure. Everyone involved should be proud!Interesting note: As of Friday (and without yet counting the latest updates for the rest of the world), Skyfall has topped Quantum of Solace's entire worldwide run. By the end of the weekend, it'll top Casino Royale as well. Still needs to open in Australia, Japan, and China among others, not to mention it's only just beginning in other markets like the US. Not that we didn't expect this, it's just interesting that's it's already been done.
Pretty impressive run thus far.
As for the Twilight thing, I don't think its box office success has as much of a longevity as Bond does. As soon as Twilight fans have seen it I think that's about it. Granted, there's a lot of Twilight fans but it lacks the wide audience of Bond. So, even though Twilight might win this weekend and perhaps the next, I think Bond's success will continue well into the next month.

I'm also impressed that the movie will earn around 30 million this weekend domestically with the competition. Skyfall should easily make it past 200 million domestically. I think Skyfall will have strong longevity because of the wider range of audience.Pretty amazing for sure. Everyone involved should be proud!

We'll see if it gets there. With $12.5 million yesterday, expect a higher number today and the lowest number of the weekend on Sunday, as usually happens. So $40 million is possible, but it may be more like $35 million. Boxofficemojo was predicting $45 million, but perhaps a few viewers in the Bond demographic will be taking their kids to the Twilight movie this weekend, thereby affecting Skyfall's take-in this weekend just slightly.
No worries though. Skyfall will still easily smash the domestic Bond record by the middle of this week at the latest, if not by tomorrow.

Am I right in the following assumptions?
1. All the quoted earnings are ticket prices acrss the globe that the cinemas take.
2. That cinemas in effect rent the film from the distributor at a cost, that cost then having to be recouped by ticket sales and ancillary food sales.
3. That in the Bond's case, a production budget of the oft mentioned $200m is all that is spent on the making of the film, irrespective of where that money comes from.
4. And bearing in mind the above, if say $100m is already placed up front in partner companies (Omega, Heineken etc.) that the remaining funds come from a deal between Sony and MGM - and NOT Eon.
5. Does that partner money go to Eon or the distributors?
6. So, is the profit for the distribution companies and Eon essentially more about 'film rentals to cinemas' plus 'partner monies' minus 'the production cost'?
7. And of profit, is the split 50% to Eon and the remaining 50% split under some deal between MGM and Sony?
Apologies for all the questions - feel free to just move along...
Cheers.

I don't understand why people care about the second week drop. For movies like this its more due to a massive opening weekend than it is a disappointing second week. The Dark Knight Rises had a drop of 75% and made a billion. There's a good chance that Skyfall will be the highest grossing Bond movie of all time in the US either by the end of only its second weekend or certainly before its third weekend. Hardly reason for sad faces.
Exactly.
Also, Skyfall will be the first Bond film to break the $200m barrier in North America, and it will have done so before the end of the Thanksgiving weekend, (next weekend), I'd say.

I read somewhere that it is 50% SONY, and 25% each MGM and EON.
Either way Broccoli and Wilson will make a lot of money.

agree with thatThe drop on this second weekend IMO is merely due to the TWILIGHT movie which grabbed all the female teenagers (and boyfriends who had to endure this). Let me predict a HUGE drop for that film next weekend and an increase for SKYFALL again.

Box office mojo says 61% but it doesn't matter muchThe Dark Knight Rises had a drop of 75% and made a billion

I don't think that SKYFALL will gain again next week and do better than the 30-40 million it's expected to do this weekend. It might have less of a drop in percentages, but it's not going back up into the 40-50 million range. For the actual weekend (Friday-Sunday) next week, I'd expect somewhere in the upper 20s to mid-30s.
I think the reason for the drop is more than just TWILIGHT as well, although that factors into it. SKYFALL is 2 1/2 hours long, but was able to be on a whole bunch of screens in each of the multiplexes last week since it was a new release. No doubt that's been scaled back due to the new releases this week (namely TWILIGHT), and the longer running time means less showings.
Also, I think part of it has to do with the general audience. I know that enthusiasm for SKYFALL is off the charts on these forums, but, at least in my own experience, I haven't run across too many people who have been praising it to the heights that those on the internet have been doing. I'm not criticizing the film based on that, I can't as I haven't seen it, just making an observation.
