Interesting to spot the helicopter approaching over what looks like the sea at around the 40 second mark.

Yes, I like that very much.

And a big thanks for this Marketto. I wasn’t expecting to see any new footage from the film this week. A great surprise treat.

Wow, LOADS of new footage. The photography is amazing. Silva looks as though he has some serious presence.

The smiling while in his chamber and his hand gesture around 30 seconds are very note worthy.

I see he fires his gun left handed in this clip while in the clip from the trailer on hashima island he shoots with the right. Talented......just like Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Definitely seems they've done some composite work to the footage to make it appear like the lodge is next to a large body of water. Very impressive, and atones for one of the disappointments when Duntrune's shooting plans fell through. Very epic and picturesque.

I'm slightly concerned about our man getting nearly shot to bits at the 0.07 mark...how apt. Looks pretty vicious!

And seems Bond and Komodo man have an audience - wonder how Bond gets himself into that scrape?

I just love the smug grin Bond has on his face as he arrives at the Casino! Reminds me of Moore.

We didn't see it in the full trailers, he had a determined expression then.

Those were the two points that caught my attention as well. Also, as others have noted, has composite work been done to give the impression that the lodge is by the water? Pretty epic. Love the long shot of Bond sprinting in London too. All in all, a lot of urgency packed into this. Great stuff.

Shaping up very nicely from what we've seen.

Not long to go now. We should get some clips from the film itself very soon.

Yep.

We can also see in this trailer that along with the finished effects, there's some different angles, takes, and digital grading than in he trailers. I'm assuming they've finished and this TV spot was made of the footage that came out of post production.

Here's some comparisons:

I can't get over how amazing that water/helicopter shot is. Movie magic at its finest. Furthermore, I've completely fallen in love with the entire idea of that set piece - just absolutely reeks of being a timeless, classic Bond location. Can't wait to see that sequence.

I agree. I feel the same way about the bit where Bond steps out of the shadows and we see his eyes. Beautiful throwback to film noir. I remember some people mentioning they didn't like it because it was too flashy, but it has to be one of my favorite bits of Bond imagery ever. (Hence the screen name)

Good eye ref the monitors.

Also, the helicopter shot, there is also the addition of mountains, since Surrey is not noticeably mountainous, OR, it was not so much the addition of water and mountains, but the insertion of the Lodge into a mountainous and watery locale shot.

Not sure how these things work.

I wonder if that is meant to be Loch Leven or maybe Loch Achtriochtan? Both are in the Glencoe area, where the Lodge is set.

I'll jump on the Lodge bandwagon - looks very dramatic and intense, a beautiful shot and I think it's going to play out very tense, dramatic and powerful on screen.

I really think we're in for a cracking one this year guys.

From memory they based the lodge on Dalness Lodge which in reality is not that close to a large body of water so I think it's just the magic of the movies.
Dalness appears to be located at the base of the mountains with a river running passed it.

I already can't wait for the Scotland finale. Here's hoping its dramatic without too much of the melodrama.

They said that at MI6, but Skyfall Lodge looks nothing like Dalness Lodge.

Not saying it's a replica or anything like it. Dalness is clearly a working lodge that has had modern work done to it. Skyfall is a romanticised version of a Scottish hunting lodge that has seen better days. I can see similarities though with the high gables and pitched dormers.

There are some very superficial similarities; the same would be true of most large houses. But to say it was ‘based’ on it is stretching it.

Yes, Dalness Lodge just happened to be a unit base when they were filming Bond, M and the DB5 driving through Glen Etive. Skyfall Lodge is largely a unique creation, albeit probably based on a couple of different Scottish manor houses.

Bizarrely long featurette on an underwater fight scene that probably won't be anywhere near the length of the video blog itself!

Without wishing to be a pedant, would not that be true of all 'making of' videos?

After all, six months to make a 2.5 hour film would tend to suggest the 'making of's would, or could, always be longer than the finished product...

That sells it to me when buying DVDs, the bonus features, I feel, must max out the finished film and go so in-depth, it takes you beyond the film you love.

I'm not a big fan of 'The Lord Of The Rings' trilogy, but looking at those features, I doth my cap to the team.

I hope 'Skyfall' has buckets of stuff for us, unlike the so-so 'Casino Royale' and feeble 'Quantum Of Solace' offerings.

For that video blog, a wonderful technical insight to their underwater filming process, and certianly looks exciting and dangerous!
