Quote from Mendes posted with the FB update for this news...

"The roots of my doing this Bond movie start way before anybody approached me because, like everyone else, I have my own personal relationship with Bond which began when I was I suppose about nine or ten years old. I've been a fan of the movies."

Sounds promising, and I look forward to seeing this video! New footage anyone maybe...behind the scenes snippits of filming...?! Bring it on!

Here's hoping that this video blog will provide some more details of the plot, Javier Bardem's character's name etc...Stil though, it's exciting that we are FINALY getting a video blog. I think that by this point into production of Quantum of Solace, we already had 3 or 4 blogs posted.

Yes! Extraordinarily excited for this. Forster did something very similar at the beginning of the QOS series if I recall.

Mendes is one of those professionals I could honestly listen to all day. He's informed, eloquent, and I'm anxious to hear him speak at length about Bond. It probably won't be more than 2-3 minutes of 'I've always loved Bond'-type fluff, but it's still exciting. If only for the blurred production design images on the walls behind him we'll spend weeks dissecting afterward!

I'm really looking forward to this, too. I wonder if they'll have some professional behind the scenes footage. Maybe some lines of dialogue, etc.

I'm just happy we'll be getting anything in video form after being in the dark for so long. I doubt we'll get anything genuinely new but it'll be nice hearing from those involved.

In Facebook:

Here's another quote from SKYFALL director Sam Mendes' videoblog: "I think it is still possible to make a big, entertaining, fabulous, glamorous movie and yet at the same time to say something about the world that we’re living in." Remember to hit 007.com at 0700 GMT tomorrow for the full world exclusive...

To be frank, nothing really interesting. I think that, like in the MGWilson clip, the most interesting things are going to be the ones that are "behind" Mendes speech...

Of course it is, but what exactly? The same old Damon-Clooney-Greengass-Penn liberal bromides, or something new?

Wait a moment, this is pretty interesting. His statement suggests that the plot could take inspiration from the world in which we live and we know that after September 11th the world has changed. I wonder if the attack on MI6 could involve a plane falling from the sky...

Don't think he means it in a literal sense. More about some sort of "message."

I'm wondering if "the world that we're living in" is more of a reference to economic hardships, although that's not very glamorous for a Bond movie... I'd be surprised if they specifically used a plane attack, but I've been wondering if there is some sort of attack from the skies for a while - particularly based on the idea of the authorities knowing an attack on MI6 is coming but them being unable to stop it.

God. At this rate, they will have transcribed the entire video for us before it's even released. Stop it, Sony/EON marketing!

I loved the pod-casts from Casino Royale. Not so much from QoS. However, I suspect my reservations at the time dealt more with the unknown factor of Marc Foster than anything. For some odd reason, I feel more comfortable with Sam Mendes. That is why I look forward to tomorrow with a kid's delight. Hopefully we will see some B-footage of scenes from Pinewood - and not just rehashes of car processions and Bond running down the street like we have already seen.

And yet another quote!

"I’ve made six movies and this is the first time I’ve shot in this country – which is an extraordinary thing. I feel like the American years were my apprenticeship for doing a Bond movie!"

Next, "new screenshot from Mendes' video blog!" And then, in a few hours, "a 20-second teaser for Mendes' 60-second video blog!"

The Peter Jackson/Hobbit video blogs (also an MGM co-production out at the end of this year) are over 10mins long and quite detailed. Would it be too optimistic of us to hope for something similar?

2 minute video, max. Info/details released thus far on Skyfall have been remarkably minor controlled in comparison to the previous Craig films. Personally, I'm all in favour of the secrecy.

I'm thinking we're just on the cusp now of more PR beginning to start up such as set visits by the likes of ET or other entertainment shows. Still, I'm looking forward to this. Here on the west coast, I know I won't be watching the news at 11pm tonight.
