Marketto, that thing that you do when you edit pieces of footage from different videos...could you do a montage of the two bits of footage we have so far? That is, if you think it´s relevant. Would give us the oportunity to see different compositions and lightings at the same time. One clear, one dark, one on the move, one aproaching a still composition, ...

Couldn´t help but be reminded of Lost in Translation with that shot of Bond at the bar. I know, I know, different orient, but still, quite exotic, wouldn´t you say?

Sure Univex, I might create a GIF Thread then. :)

What we learned from this last Videoblog is that Patrice is aiming to a businessman that's in Sévérine's apartment. Check:

Looks absolutely attractive! Deakins will give "SKYFALL" a very distinctive look.

Well Shanghai isn't going to dissapoint I don't think, and it looks glorious!

Was that some new Bond music too, during the end or a simple re-hash of old Bond music? I've never heard it before although it does sound Brosnan era to me.

That's more like it.

Music is from Quantum and DAD.

No new music.

Did we know Michael Lerman's back as an AD? He ran the show for Marc Forster, always assumed he was a Forster-specific choice. Apparently he's not. Neat.

He was Forster's choice for 1st AD on QoS - seems he liked the job on Bond and Eon liked him.

AWESOME!! Shanghai is looking FABULOUS!! Also that clip of Bond at the bar...remember when part of that London hotel they used for the swimming scene had it's windows blacked out..presumably to substitute Shanghai in the background? (or at least we were speculating that it might..)... I wonder if this is that scene!

I'd say not - firstly, how would you explain the view from the windows in the behind the scenes documentary style shots?

Plus, blacking out the windows is not how they add a view in post, they'd put large green screens away from the glass.

Also, that wasn't a bar, it was a swimming pool.

Good point, Shrublands...I don't know..it just looks like the pool and the bar could be from the same hotel, but not necessarily the same floor.. Well, we'll wait and see..

One thing is for sure, that David Arnold score is getting pretty boring by now (yes, even the QOS one). I can´t wait to see what Newman brings to this. Just the other day I was listening to my two favourite Barry scores, OHMSS and TLD, and thinking: there´s so much in here that Arnold didn´t emulate. I know he brought back some OST glory to the franchise, sometimes emulating Barry, others trying to be original, but in a Barry soundtrack you can pick up on so much stuff, it´s just incredible the way the man thinks and engineers his music. I hope Thomas Newman brings his A game to Skyfall. Anyway, didn´t wait to divert from the threads subject. Best Video Blog so far. Really love that shot of Bond in the bar. One thing, is that the bar from the clapperboard? What do you think?

Pinewood, probably.

The Shanghai skyline is CGI?

No – you wouldn’t be able to see the CGI in behind the scenes video.
I’d say it’s a model with lights and a backdrop.

It'd be interesting to find out how it was done. Obviously some kind of cyclorama. Maybe even a digital back projection of the real Shanghai skyline?

In the other shot, where you can see the city skyline with Severinein the window, I’d say that was a back projection, possibly digital.

Stunning! Perhaps my favourite thing to emerge on SKYFALL so far. (I'm a sucker for locations...)

Couldn´t help but be reminded of Lost in Translation with that shot of Bond at the bar. I know, I know, different orient, but still, quite exotic, wouldn´t you say?

To further the LOST IN TRANSLATION reference, my initial belief is that the templates for the location are actually backdrops shot from the bar at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Shanghai's World Financial Center.

Now, here's a long shot (or potentially a nice project), but can anyone identify the scouted location showing an Oriental bridge over a lake covered with water lilies?

The Shanghai Yan'an Highway that Bond follows Patrice looks awesome. The scene reminds me of when Bond follows Dimitrios in CR however I doubt Severine is dating Patrice's charatcer.

At least during this pursuit sequence the movie won't be over-scored with Arnold music.

The one thing I hated about Arnold's scores was how he felt the need to put music in nearly every scene. Sometimes less is more.

And sometimes - oftentimes - that's not entirely the composer's decision.

Wow, it really just helps you appreciate the level of work that goes into bringing us our film, and the hundereds of crew behind the magic.

Looks a very stunningly shot film, the sets are fantastic, Shanghai especially looks very hypnotic and surreal.

Of course, SKYFALL was one of the films I´m looking forward to this year.

But with THE AVENGERS, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, PROMETHEUS, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES and THE HOBBIT it had pretty big competition.

After all the trailers I have seen so far - and the tiny bits from SKYFALL, I must admit:

SKYFALL cannot be topped. My definite No.1 MUST SEE this year.

Followed by TDKR, Spider-man, The Avengers, Prometheus (which I become increasingly bored by) ... and The Hobbit in last place (the teaser was dreadful IMO).

That MI6 underground bunker looks good. Sort of like an updated version of Churchill's war room. Which, I suppose, is the idea.

The Shanghai set looks amazing, with the moving neon sign and everything. Gassner said the whole film is about illusion. And you can certainly see a bit of that in that shot where Bond is sneaking up on Patrice.

Wow. Can't believe they showed Bond moving in on the sniper. That underground bunker looks great, didn't realize it would be so large.

What are the buildings they built within the studio? Are they the ground level of the Shanghai buildings?
