Makes sense that if Bond were to seriously consider meeting his end, he'd want to do it where the rest of his family had. Amazing photos.

Have we see this yet (sorry, I just dropped into this thread)? Great pics and video here.

http://www.dailymail...ica-Surrey.html

I LOVE that they went ahead and built the castle. This is great old fashioned film-making, and very much in the tradition of great Bond film-making. (Maybe more spoilers here than I wanted though.)

Cool. Thanks. But the Mail also has pics of Bond on the location. I also dig that helicopter footage.

How irritating to know that James Bond, his Aston Martin and M are a couple of miles away right now! :)

I think all this is really cool. I'm just a tad bit disappointed the attack on the lodge is conducted with (we assume based on the U-tube videos of the test runs) a lone helicopter. Would really like to see a massive attack - ala YOLT. But with it being filmed at twilight, and the massive explosion of the lodge, it will still be spectacular.

I doubt they'll be blowing the whole thing up: if they did it would become clear it's made of thin wood! :)
But they are going to blow a large hole in it at the least, and I expect there'll be plenty of bullet hits etc.
And can Bond really evade loads of helicopters (through the secret tunnel!! Can't believe the Forager hasn't found that yet :) )?

Really looks amazing there, doesn't it?

AWESOME helicopter footage! WOW! Is it kicking up dust on purpose to cover the ground units' entry?

It'll probably be done as a mixture of live action and model shots. They have to give Steve Begg something to do, after all!

It's a Bond film: if they want to blow something that size up: they blow it up! :)

Although I suppose there are probably restrictions on what they can do there: I know it's MOD land but even so, you'd imagine a fire could start pretty easily in that heather.

Of course. But they'll only get one shot at it with this particular prop. So, it'll probably be intercut with model shots.

Thanks, Luigi.

Today they were taking endless shots of someone fumbling for some time to open the doors, and then the doors finally swing open, and the person enters the building. The figure seemed to be bizarrely dressed; baggy trousers and a long greatcoat, with blond or grey hair and a hat. At one point it seemed that someone was pointing a gun at the figure, but this might not be the case – I couldn’t get a very clear view and shortly afterwards we were ordered to come further away. They were shooting, reshooting and shooting again, which seems to be the norm. Was it blond-wigged (please say it’s a wig…he’s really not a good blond) Javier, disguised as a tramp? Could this be the entrance to the secret passage I’ve heard whispers of?

Finney?

We owe our Foraging Photographer a great deal.

And now we can put a name and a face to the Foraging Photographer! I'll stick it as a spoiler in case there are people who want to think of the Foraging Photographer as SKYFALL's "Deep Throat" (the Waterget informant, not the pørno!).

Spoiler

(If you want it to remain secret, don't follow the "About Me" tab on the Photographer's website.)

My first instinct reading it was Bardem and his blond hair, but there's also a good chance of it being Finney.

I'm betting it's Kincaid - Albert Finney - and that his character still lives on the Skyfall estate. Bond and M are not going to Skyfall for some kind of hideaway, they travel all the way to Scotland to find Kincaid. As a guess.

Kincade could be living there like Miss Havisham, with the whole place covered with cobwebs and falling into disrepair around him – could be rather fun.
If it is him, his clothes sound rather tramp-like and/or eccentric.

Yeah, could be. The only downside to that would be that Finney's only going to have a limited amount of screen time. Which is a bit of a shame. The more Albert the better, as far as I'm concerned.

I imagine Bond's the one with the gun, and he's making Kincade show him something that's hidden in that barn, or whatever it is. Perhaps a MacGuffin that Silva's after?

My suspicion has always been that Finney has a small amount of screen time, but a pivotal character. I’d rather see him play something offbeat for a Bond film - a colourful recluse with a secret that will change the direction of the climax, than the latest in a long line of disgruntled-minister-types.

But having said that, you're quite right, the more Albert the better, for me too.

Well, yes, I didn't think he'd have a massive amount of screen time, either. But I thought he might appear in a few scenes before the finale. Then again, maybe he does?

Thank you for your efforts! (Inadvertently spoiled more of the film than I'd have liked, but that's my own fault!)

Terrifically interesting stuff. Now, run and steal a headstone! $500 on eBay, easily! ;)

Thanks for all the lovely comments! I've learned a lot about Bond through the blogging and reading the forums - I'm going to read the Fleming novels once all this is finished. I was concerned that I wouldn't have anything of interest to report now that I can't get near the set, but I'm pleased to see that you're speculating on the identity of the figure at the outhouse doors.

I didn't get to the site today - other commitments and I was told there wouldn't be filming because the forecast was for sun, and they want cloud. I'm hoping that was true, and that I didn't miss something vital! I'll update tomorrow though.

:-)

I want to thank you too for the wonderful pictures you have made available to all of us Bond fans .

I see that there is something poetic in your photos and there is genuine passion in what you do.

Thanks for contributing with your blog to really convey the feeling of being on the set of Skyfall and for having fed our expectations for what , I am sure, will be one of the most memorable sequences in the entire 007 series.

The good work sometimes repays , the over 21,000 hits attest to this.

Thanks for keeping us updated, it is always a pleasure to read you. Keep on with the good work and... good luck with your upcoming trips on the film set!
