Lovely, thanks Shark.
I just love that 'Breadcrumbs' Bond theme. And 'Old Dog, New Tricks' is luxurious bliss.
Yes! Newman really made a fantastic Bond score.

Lucky chap. The soundtrack is creating an atmosphere for me which I'm really liking. Off the top of my head, stuff like 'Quartermaster', 'Someone Usually Dies' and 'Welcome to Scotland' are top notch. All I have to say is that your guys are in for a treat .

And yeah, some of it sounds Arnold-esque, but that's understandable I think considering. But still has a 'new' take to it.

Did I hear some of Adele's theme sprinkled in there or was that my imagination?
It's most definitely in there.
And a good thing to. Bond scores should always incorporate the title tune, no matter how good or bad said title tune is. I know that's not always possible, but it's good that Newman's incorporating something he didn't write.

Grand Bazaar - Awful. Did Cinemax's Strike Back series have unused material?
Voluntary Retirement - Ambient bit of awful. Repetitive cycling of notes. So many composers do this thing, doesn't make it any good.
New Digs - Pleasant.
Severine - Short but sweet.
Brave New World - The start sounded brave ... then .... not so much.
Shanghai Drive - Neat and clever music. You can sense the James Bond Theme is (largely) stripped from the music yet still plays in your head. A highlight.
Jellyfish - A highlight!
Silhouette - Japanese styled war drums (or the like) what's not to enjoy?
Modigliani - Filler music
Day Wasted - Time Wasted
Quartermaster - Pretty good ... but half-expected a high-pitched voice to shout out "Wipeout" for a moment. Deft JB Theme touch.
Someone Usually Dies - Mostly understated goodness.
Komodo Dragon - Sounds like an hommage to David Arnold meets Persian K-Mart Music
The Bloody Shot - Weak. An African Rundown wannabee
Enjoying Death - Fine but I had bigger hopes for this one.
The Chimera - Okay
Close Shave - Neat
Heath & Safety - Generic as things get.
Granborough Road - Nothing new but likeable.
Tennyson - Liked it.
Enquiry - A highlight. Not sure where the Arabian Nights vibe is coming from but hopefully works for the film.
Breadcrumbs - A bit underpaced, a bit City of Prague Philharmonic perhaps. But understated niceness just the same.
Skyfall - Worth another listen.
Kill Them First - Generically Generic
Welcome To Scotland - I think I was still trying to get over "Kill Me First" so need to give this a fresh listen.
She's Mine - Repetitive strings does not a great track make. Sounds too much like Star Trek music.
The Moors - Like it. Can't say the music is anything new, but really nice arrangement.
Deep Water - A highlight
Mother - Liked it. Understated goodness.
Adrenaline - Craptastic. If that makes the movie, I'll be sorry that I have to hear it again.
Old Dog, New Tricks - Neat. I liked it.

Hey everybody, I'm new to these parts but I'm really excited to be here now!!
Now quickly my thoughts on the score, or what I've heard so far: I've been a big fan of Arnold's since his work on TND, and, although I was disappointed with his not returning, Newman's score is shaping up to be a real winner! Judging from what I've heard so far, it seems sleeker, subtler, and more fitting for a spy-movie. Like, The Debt with some Bond flair. Newman seems to be doing his own thing rather than just emulate what's come before, which, for a 50th anniversary flick, is certainly quite admirable!
I'm really hoping that all of the full tracks are posted somewhere soon, because Grand Bazaar, Istanbul and Breadcrumbs have left my thirsty for more!

Can anyone confirm whether there's been any big Bond theme moments yet? Apart from Breadcrumbs. The full theme I mean, integrated?
If by "big Bond theme" you mean like CR's "The Name's Bond...James Bond", than I don't believe so.
Portions of it are subtlety integrated throughout the soundtrack though, like in Grand Bazaar and She's Mine, from what I understand.

Then perhaps this'd be a good time to introduce myself!

Welcome aboard YKMY1865!
I agree - in that a composer makes his mark by new ideas or new interpretations to things. And overall, that sets the tracks that I found most worthy of his.

I meant sudden eruption of the Bond theme. Like 'Pursuit At Port Au Prince' 'Antanov' and 'Whiteout'. Love moments like that.

My initial thoughts on listening to the full tracks. Thanks to a high ranked officer. I color coded what I thought were some particularly strong and weak tracks.
Grand Bazaar - Awful. Did Cinemax's Strike Back series have unused material?
Voluntary Retirement - Ambient bit of awful. Repetitive cycling of notes. So many composers do this thing, doesn't make it any good.

Isn´t it wonderful that on the internet one can dismiss the hard work of a prolific composer with just a few words (and probably after listening to it only once or twice)?

There are sudden eruptions in the sense that, when Newman uses it, he doesn't hide it. It's pronounced, and from what I'm hearing, everywhere. I hear it no less than three or four times in the Grand Bazaar opening track, for instance.
Newman's used it exactly the way I hoped he would. I'm falling in love with this score.
EDIT: And that's just going by the samples on the site Shark linked. I've yet to hear whether or not it expands further.

And yes people, that is an invitation to pm me the full tracks if you have them
And NO, people, you don´t invite anybody to pm anybody full tracks because that´s a fast way for us to get into serious trouble.
Please, piracy is not acceptable!

Is there any breakdown available of which SKYFALL tracks are featured in the Cinematic Sound broadcast? Thanks.
Just guessing, based on comparisons to the samples (not necessarily in this order): Grand Bazaar, Bloody Shot, Komodo Dragon, Breadcrumbs, Moors, Jellyfish, and a few others I can't recall.

Yeah. Please, certainly, don't make any requests for pirated materials in this thread.

So ... away from the Internet ... say at a party ... if someone tells you that they just saw a movie and that "it stunk" do you criticize them for forming an opinion after only seeing the movie once? Do you share how nice it must be for them to weigh in on the hard work of a filmmaker with only a couple words?
