The same argument levelled against David Arnold. I'd say these cues are more daring in comparison. The dominant complaints seem to be that Newman's cues sound somewhat generic.

I, personally, really like the samples for the soundtrack. I don't know if it is generic or not, but whether it is or isn't, I like it. I know what I like and this I like.
I appreciate your candor. Ultimately, if it works for you, that's all that really matters.

Voluntary Retirement/Day Wasted/Close Shave - didn't really get much of an impression, seems to be leading into something.
Severine/Jellyfish/Modigliani/Enjoying Death/Skyfall/Mother beautiful
Brave New World/shanghai Drive/Adrenaline not really a fan, too modern?
Silhouette/Quartermaster very tribele, I like
Someone Usually Dies/Komodo Dragon/Tennyson/the Moors Mysterious
The Bloody Shot/The Chimera/Health and Safety/Granborough Road/Enquiry/Kill Them First/Welcome to Scotland/She's MineYou can feel the tension
Breadcrumbs interesting
Deep Water for some reason my mind went "Batman"
An interesting mix, some I like, some I don't. But I do think that Newman's tracks will work well. There's hints of Adele's themes, Bond theme's subtly worked in. I'm not complaining, looking forward to seeing how it works in the film.

They had to wait until I got back didn't they? Some people are so inconsiderateA kindly soul has now put the Amazon samples together on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rStdJlpcXKY

So would it have been better if David Arnold had stayed?
a ) Too early to tell that.
b ) No.

This sounds absolutely mediocre.
At best.
At worst, it souns like elevator music.
Still better than Arnold on an average day.

Anyone who's seen it... is it prominent and obviously reused? Bit of a shame Newman couldn't/didn't do his own version, unless his score was so bad they replaced it.

Well, his CR version is used more than once. Of course there are probably multiple uses by Newman too, but its a bit disappointing to just copy and paste the old music, they should have at least chosen the QOS version which is less well known.Wait, what? The Bond theme in the film is Arnolds version?
It will be annoying if they use it liberally.

It caused quite a few laughs this morning, but seriously. It's something I don't understand. This is Bond with a capital B. Apparently. It's the 50th Anniversary. I just wished that this opened with the gunbarrel. Me and my best friend were talking a few weeks ago, how brilliant it would be to be sitting in the CInema. Opening Logos play, and then, all of a sudden, the Bond theme roars and the gunbarrel appears. It's a small thing, granted, but we haven't had this for 10 years.
Another thing I was looking forward to, was a brand new Bond theme variation. Now, there's the fact that David Arnold's 'The Names Bond... James Bond' is used throughout the movie. I mean, it's a fine track, don't get me wrong, but if it's blasting during every action sequence then I won't be very happy. It's just generic and boring. Everything else seems great though.

Completely agree with all of that. I reckon it will be used towards the end, in some big "Bond is back" moments, which is probably the worst place for them to use it. I strongly associate that music with the end of CR. It's going to be pretty stupid if all the key moments have music from two films ago in them! I know the earlier films did that, but there hasn't been a single reuse of a variation since David Arnold took the reigns.I'm really not sure what to think of this. I'm so happy that Skyfall has gotten rave reviews. Seriously, after the reception of Quantum of Solace, I honestly thought that this was make or break. There's just some little things that have annoyed me. The gunbarrel is the first. I'll tell you a story. I went out last night and I got incredibly drunk, and I was standing at the urinals, and my friend came in next to me, and I was apparently muttering to myself. He asked what was wrong, and I replied with... "Nothing... I just can't believe they put it at the end again."

I was also really looking forward to Arnold reintroducing the Bond theme, and some sort of continuation of Inside Man. He would have had a field day with this, and with Adele on board so early, we would have had so many instances of it in the score.
I have seen a few people mention that the film reuses the original classic version, in the same way where it just plays exactly the same with no interruption. I think those people probably were talking about The Name's Bond, which suggests we might get a few bits where they just roll out the complete track with no changes at all.

Ok, I'll fess up, I am disappointed that the gunbarrel doesn't open the film. However I'm going to let the Bond theme one go, I've been waiting two films for Craig's Bond to get it, now we got it. I'm calling that one a win.

I think it's kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.
No, not at all. If you hire a composer, then he should, you know, compose a rendition of the bond theme. To take an old track means that they simply didn't like what Newman did, and since we are familiar with it, its use might stick out like a sore thumb.

Well it appears Newman did do a version of the Bond theme because we hear a snippet of it in "Breadcrumbs"Well, it is a problem if it seems like a cut and paste job, right?

Maybe the Producers think some stuff of Newman doesn't work in the Film, and they replace some cues like the Drive to. St. Petersburg in Goldeneye?
