I'd really like to hear a more developed version of Inside Man, and I was looking forward to him bringing back the Bond theme, after the gradual hints in QOS. Fingers crossed for Bond 24.And I´m also hoping that David Arnold will return. In my opinion he made the perfect combination of the trademark Barry sound with his own modernization of it.

I so desperately hope we get Arnold back for Bond 24 and again and again!
I´m listening to the three cues again and again... and I´m starting to like it more. But still, I absolutely hope that the rest of the score will expand from those tricks Newman uses and become more of the traditional Bond sound.
And I´m also hoping that David Arnold will return. In my opinion he made the perfect combination of the trademark Barry sound with his own modernization of it.
The Shark will heavily disagree, of course, and I respect his knowledge of composition. But I like stuff even if it is not considered "good".
me too but useless...we seems not welcome in such pov.... someday you watch the Batman movie but no Batman suit, Batman car, Batman theme then still have some kind of blind heart fans to like it.
Webmaster put a lot of spots here full of Bond theme maybe some fans will dislike it...same as opening with Queen...why need use James bond theme??
A Bond movie without Bond music or gadget ....what we are watching???

Now that I know it wasn't Newman, I'm almost disappointed. It really was uncharacteristically great for an agency spot.
So it is now officially official that the iFly piece is completely original and not from Newman?
Goddammit...

There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that if mendes return, we will be getting Thomas Newman again.
Out of the entire Skyfall crew, I'd most like to see Deakins come back. I hope the producers pursue him.

Yeah , I get what you are trying to say, people these days want slower more emotional music that Newman is used to delivering , and yes we are in minority,I just dont understand why would true Bond fans want something so different, that makes it looses its unique identity ,just for it to look "cool"

He's worked with Newman on Revolutionary road and JarHead. I am pretty sure He will be back , Though I hate his work and I would much rather preffer Roberto Schaffer from Qos

You know my point and you know the number, maybe because we are such old age fans so we think: classic posters, music and gadgets is our real Bond..but to those youngs maybe they think thats outdate for using it........

Not at all. It's one of most effective non-Barry Bond suspense cues written, whether it's the variation for the Severneya or train countdown. Pulsing didgeridoos, ghostly synth voices and and that strange percussion sound heard throughout many of Serra's scores of that era (turns out it's a tambourine sample pitched down real low) building into a harsh cluster at the end. Despite its ambience, it's of the Barry school of less is more. Gumbold's Safe, Meeting at St. Sophia, The Chase Bomb Theme etc.
I have no idea what survived of "Fatal Weakness" that made it to the scenes at Severnaya, but it wasn't much. Hardly a testament to the track. But to each his own. In this case, what you sense as ambience, I think of as ambient music.

Ah, good to have confirmation one way or the other though. Whoever composed the Coca-Cola/iFly music should be commended!
SOMEWHAT SAD UPDATE: Tony Lewis confirms the iFly music isn't Tom Newman.
Damn! So I was wrong about that track on the iFly site...Shame really as it's really good!! Ahh well let the mystery and intrigue of what the "Shanghai Drive" cue on Thomas Newman's soundtrack will really be like!

Kind of , "Shaky cam"as some call it , adds a lot of intensity to the action,Bourne series is a good proof of that.I really dont understand from what angle is Deakin's work Beautifull. could you please attach a picture so I could better understand what you are trying to get at .Because I really dont get it!

Couldn't agree more with you Dove. Good thing I have the track downloaded. Great to listen to! Now just waiting for Newman's score to be released.

I'm older and if I want to listen to old music I have a 1,000+ soundtracks and films to allow me to do so. My preference is to see what new composers can offer to the Bond canon. And as to the gadgets, screw 'em. Besides some tricked out cars, what gadgets did 007 have in the last 20 years that wowed us? Certainly, too few to matter.

I'm starting to think we should start a topic called "The Cinematography Of Skyfall" haha. It may work for Bourne, but it didn't work for QOS. Then again mate, opinions vary

Here's an idea...can we please keep any debates about the cinematography of Quantum of Solace or Eric Serra's Goldeneye score in their appropriate threads??
Don't worry, any more talk about Deakins and Schaffer and I'm creating a cinematography discussion

Is there some sort of subliminal musical programming going on here?
EDIT: Shark, you'd mentioned awhile back you can hear Adele's Skyfall in 'Severine'. Where, specifically? I feel like I'm hearing it too, in the string melody, pretty prominently. But that could just be my mind looking for the patterns.

The cue appears during the train hostage sequence with Natalya, and then the watch laser escape.I have no idea what survived of "Fatal Weakness" that made it to the scenes at Severnaya, but it wasn't much. Hardly a testament to the track. But to each his own. In this case, what you sense as ambience, I think of as ambient music.
These ‘Skyfall’ samples do have their own identity but I don’t see them being that much of a radical departure where it’s no longer Bond. But saying that, George Martin’s willingness to experiment with sounds and do something different made things interesting and pushed the old conventions of recording. ‘New Digs’ sound suitably Bondian to me, and the other two tracks seem to capture the atmosphere of the world he exists in for this movie.
