I must admit, in 2012 I´ve been to the cinema less than ever. I guess, most movies around don´t interest me anymore. The more exciting stuff is happening on TV.
2012 definitely was a bad year for comedies - nothing really made me laugh or care enough (but I haven´t seen TED yet, so I´m hoping for that one to be the exception).
Of course, many worthy films might have escaped me. I am looking forward to watching "Looper" on blu-ray, and as a long time Woody Allen film (yes, the last 12 years were a pale shadow of his former greatness) I want to watch "To Rome With Love" on blu-ray as well. I missed "ARGO" and "CLOUD ATLAS", unfortunately, and will try to catch them next year, too.
This are my favorite films from 2012:
1. SKYFALL(my personal movie event of the year, I´m still loving it unashamedly)
2. JOHN CARTER (cruelly underrated, a pleasure for a space opera fan growing up with STAR WARS, would have been my number one if it were not for 007)
3. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (huge positive surprise, Andrew Garfield makes it all interesting, he is the perfect Peter Parker/Spiderman, and Marc Webb does everything right)
4. THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS (Fulfilled my expectations for a fitting finale)
5. THE AVENGERS (harmless fun, long-time Whedon fan)
6. THE HUNGER GAMES (a surprisingly good and dark film)
7. PROMETHEUS (disappointing in context with ALIEN, wasting a lot of opportunities, but still strangely interesting)
8. DARLING COMPANION (slight but done very well, also I´m a long-time Lawrence Kasdan fan)
Weird - most films are genre pictures or comic book movies. There was a time when I was more of an arthouse guy. Ah, the student years of arrogance and snobbery...
I´m still looking forward to THE HOBBIT (despite the reviews confirming what I feared for), LINCOLN, LIFE OF PI, HITCHCOCK, FLIGHT, LES MISERABLES, THIS IS 40, JACK REACHER, DJANGO UNCHAINED, THE GUILT TRIP, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK - most of them will not be released in Germany before 2013.
Oh, and the film that disappointed me most this year, even to the point of hating it completely:
THE ARTIST (one of the most undeserving Best Picture winners ever, just an exercise in style, banality and pseudo art)

21 Jump Street is funny, but that's about it, It really has no replay value to it.

Just got back from seeing 'The Collection'. Loved the first film 'The Collector', sequel is very well done. Not every day you see a horror film sequel that's actually just as, if not better than the original.
5/5
'Zero Dark Thirty' and 'Jack Reacher' next week.

Zero Dark Thirty looks really good.

Unless you live in Los Angeles or New York City, looks like your seeing 'Zero Dark Thirty' January 11th, 2013. Unbelievably pissed. One of two films I was looking forward to this month (the other being 'Jack Reacher') gets post-poned.
Got home from the gym, signed online and was going to look for showtimes this Friday (which WAS supposed to be the Wide release for the film) and purchase tickets for me and my pals.
24 Days to wait now. Hopefully a showing pops up near me so I can see it. I'm Not driving 2 and a half hours out of my way to see it. Never have and never will for any film.

Too bad everyone everyone I know who saw it said it wasn't.
I'll catch it on DVD next year.

Yea, I'll pass on The Hobbit too. Never was a big LotR fan so this appealed to me even less.

I didn't like the Hobbit that much, I mean it was okay. I thought most of it was computerized and that they added fluff to it which didn't need to be there and they added things not in the book, definitely should have been one movie and that makes me mad.

Updated and revised;
The Amazing Spider-Man
I wasn't really into it, I thought it was well done and the story was great but it just felt too late, they shouldn't have messed up the first three Spider Man films so bad IMO. Spider Man is a kids game I think I've out grown.
★★★★★
The Dark Knight Rises
★★★★
Haywire / Safe House / Cleanskin / 21 Jump Street / The Hunger Games / Taken 2 / Skyfall
★★★
Red Tails / The Grey / The Avengers / Ted / Prometheus / The Bourne Legacy / The Expenables 2 / The Watch / The Amazing Spider-Man
★★
The Campaign
Still want to see;
Red Dawn / The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Yeah you should see the Hobbit and let me know what you think. Me and my friends both didn't really like it that much and I told my one friend how I didn't like it, he completely told me I was wrong and it was so good and it made him cry and I was like wow I did not get that out of it but okay.

Yeah I've spoken to a few friends of mine who loved The Hobbit. I really do not see the attraction. It's really long (as in, time does not pass quickly while watching it), really padded, and not terribly engaging. It's the same thing over and over again with slightly different music and lighting. I really enjoy The Lord of the Rings, but The Hobbit simply does not have any urgency to it. This did not need three movies.

No it really didn't. I have no clue how they are even going to stretch it to 3 movies.
