Regarding this year's crop of franchise fare/sequels, THE BOURNE LEGACY is the one I'm most curious to see. It has an intriguing concept (not only Bourne-without-Bourne, but apparently also the revelation of the big picture behind the events of the first three films, or so Tony Gilroy promises us) and a terrific cast (Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Stacy Keach and even good old Shane Jacobson from the wonderful Aussie indie comedy mockumentary KENNY, who's just about the last person I'd ever have thought would turn up in a Bourne film). I suspect it may not be as good a film as THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, THE HOBBIT, PROMETHEUS or SKYFALL, indeed it may go horribly tits-up a la TERMINATOR SALVATION.... but I'm certainly very curious to find out whether Gilroy and co. have pulled it off.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011)
Amazing film. There was a few changes, but I found them very fresh and original. I respect totally that David Fincher wanted his own take on it, and it payed off. Daniel Craig is brilliant. So is Rooney Mara. I thought the cinematography was amazing. I really do prefer this one to the original. I was very tempted to give it a 5 star film, but I feel that there was just some stuff that really confused me. Didn't have any idea of what on earth was happening with Lisabeths trip to Zurick towards the end, they didn't explain what she was doing very well at all. I also felt that the whole murder thing wasn't explained in enough detail. But still, overall a fantastic film!
Also, Daniel Craig screaming "CATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!", made me laugh so much in the cinema.
4.5/5

Terrific film. A slight scare fest in places, but it's very well made. Radcliffe is great, and it's very nice to see him in another role. It's probably the only time I've actually screamed in a cinema...
But yes, a good old fashioned ghost story. I think that Horror films work a lot better set in the 1800's than the present day, it's a lot more atmospheric. The last act was a bit rushed, and rather poor, but the ending was great and made up for it.

So I went to see the film 'Safe House' tonight, I haven't really heard anything about it, so you know, just thought I'd give it a go. I had no idea what it was about, who was in it, ect, untill the opening credits rolled. (Denzel Washington - Urgh. Ryan Reynolds - Urgh. BRENDAN GLEESON! YEY!)
I don't really know that to make of it. First of all, I think Reynolds is an atrocious actor anyway. Not keen on Washington, too. I feel asleep about 4 times during the film. The action was over done totally. Brutal fist fights, actually really well choreographed and stuff, but totally ruined by awful sound effects.
Overall, it's a pretty bad film. It just scrapes a 3/5 from me. Merely because I enjoyed Brendan Gleeson and the soundtrack. Just felt like it was trying to hard to be brilliant and artistic and fell flat on it's face.
3/5. barely.

"HAYWIRE" was a major disappointment. "THIS MEANS WAR" was funny. And "SAFE HOUSE" was entertaining, but predictable.

Loving all the Greek myths flicks.
On that note...anyone seen 'Immortals', and if so is it worth a go?

One of my favorite novels. Seen it on stage several times, performed as Nick Carraway before, and read the book at least once a year. I have high hopes.

This is blowing my mind right now.
I've seen both and would have flipped the scores and gave MI:4 a 4/5. As for Dream House...my goodness was that awful.

I probably bumped the Dream House score a bit as I could at least respect what they were trying to accomplish with it, even if the execution of the idea was slightly lacking.
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, on the other hand, was beyond horrendous. I can't remember ever being let down by a movie moreso than I was with that one. I genuinely wanted to like it, as I'm a huge Tom Cruise and M:I fan, but aside from the cast (which was the only bright point of the film) there was nothing there to really like.
