I like, but it should be all of Gotham kicking The Avengers out. watch out, Batman's taking his throne back from the overrated Avengers.

Really looking forward to this. I've enjoyed the first two Alex Cross films - Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider. I wish Morgan Freeman would've been cast but this looks interesting with Tyler Perry. This film can be added to my must see 2012 list now.

Good luck, because "THE AVENGERS" wasn't overrated to me. On the other hand, "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" looked a bit over-the-top in ways that "THE AVENGERS" wasn't. As for "THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN" . . . it was good, but certainly not the best Spider-Man movie I have ever seen.

I was just disappointed with the fact that Marvel rushed Iron Man 2, Captain America, and Thor just to The Avengers. I didn't like that, and I wasn't impressed with the finished product.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

I would've posted this review sooner, but it's taken me a while to get over how brilliant it is, so I can judge it on it's own merits. There's a lot to like about this film, and I've been racking my brains for a while thinking about what's not to like, but I've came to the conclusion that there's hardly anything. The film is brilliant, and it's probably the strongest entry of the trilogy.

Everything in this movie is near perfect, from the cinematography, to the pacing (Which puts it leagues above The Dark Knight straight away), to the genuinely heartbreaking scenes involving Bruce Wayne and his faithful butler Alfred. I can honestly say that I've never cried so much in a film in my entire life. Every scene involving Michael Caine is just heart wrenching, and the last half of the film is beyond excellent.

Christian Bale puts in a brilliant performance as Bruce Wayne, which in my opinion in his strongest to date. The thing I liked about this film most though, is the fact that it hasn't followed in the footsteps of 'The Dark Knight', and went down more of a 'Batman Begins' route. This is Bruce Wayne and Gotham central, which in itself is a perfect way to wrap up the series. Then we have the fact that this is not a superhero movie, far from it. This is probably the most real and down to earth Batman film you'll see and what the film manages to do, is maintain such a strong and personal connection to the characters and at the same time and give it such a massive scope. The thing that struck me the most though. is that this is not a conventional Batman film, and more like an extremely character driven art house film. It deals mostly with Gotham without a hero, and I think thats where the most successful aspect lies. I also love that this is Bruce Wayne central. Batman is hardly ever featured, and I really do feel that this was a very risky, but wise move. It was very important that it focused on the Bruce Wayne character, because that's where the true heart and emotion lives.

As mentioned before, I found it really difficult to find flaws in this film. It does have a few plot holes (How did Bruce get back into Gotham, etc), but you know what? It really doesn't matter. The film is so strong in it's own right that I can gladly overlook it's flaws. I found Bane a tad underused, but I think the fact that The Dark Knight Rises focuses more on loss, and the people of Gotham adjusting to a world without Batman, then It makes sense for him to be confined to the background.

I can't really make up my mind whether or not I prefer this to Batman Begins, but it's definately on par, and I've never once been thus emotional connected to a film, so I have a feeling that this could very well be my favourite chapter in the trilogy. I'm not going to say that I've loved The Dark Knight Trilogy over the years. I've only just recently rediscovered Batman Begins, I really didn't think much of it the first time, but soon entered my top 10 film list. While I really enjoy The Dark Knight, I still think it's very flawed, but now that the series has concluded. I am feeling an overwhelming sense of loss. So thank you Christopher Nolan, for restoring my faith in cinema, and taking the time to deliver and intelligent and exciting range of films.

Where do I begin. The Dark Knight Rises is the biggest letdown ever. Bigger than the hype train the was Prometheus. I couldn't find a single thing to like or even love besides Tom Hardy's performance as Bane. The film kept dragging on and took to long to get to the point. Catwoman was unnecessary I couldn't picture Anne Hathaway as the character and she had almost zero charisma unlike Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal in Batman Returns. I'd of gone with Olivia Wilde as Catwoman, but if I could have my way, remove the character completely. Bane did nothing but deliver speeches and break Batman's back. For Christ's sake, Joker caused more mayhem and did more psychotic things than Bane. I laughed at the plot holes in the film. Bane is Batmans most stongest and feared enemies. That wasn't the case. Again he broke his back and that was it. Bane needed to be more menacing. The cinematography was like everything else we see in a Nolan film. Zimmer's music score was so loud and overpowering I couldn't hear dialogue. The Dark Knight was much better than this. Now, it would appear as if I hated this film. Partially true. I enjoyed it to a certain extent. It's not a brilliant film. It has flaws and the acting was sub-par(my opinion) minus Michael Caine, who's always great in whatever he's in and Tom Hardy. I just wasn't feeling the vibe this third go-around. It's certainly entertaining as far as action scenes go, but the running length and the fact that for a while it was the same thing going back and forth before it got interesting and went back and forth regarding the previous issue (whichever that may be - trying not to give a spoiler) People that rave about this film are either 1.) Die hard Batman fans (like myself) 2.) Nolan Fans who believe he's the greatest director period(I too am a Nolan fan, until this film.) 3.) average movie-goers who just so happen to enjoy this nearly 3 hour film and it's well "un-epic-ness" Nolan's Inception is a great film. And to be frank, I believe it should've ended with The Dark Knight. Entertaining, but still overall terrible.

TED 2012

I'm a FAMILY GUY fan so I was most likely going to enjoy this film.

Nice to see that it has a few cast members from FAMILY GUY starting with Patrick Stewart who narrates, Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin) and Mila Kunis (Meg Griffin).

I love the JOHNNY CARSON footage looks great and I'm a TONIGHT SHOW fan at least before LENO returned.

Even the music is in the spirit of FAMILY GUY.

Teddy Ruxpin, LOL.

Sweet Bond film name drop with OCTOPUSSY and them song.

There is a little Indiana Jones moment, always cool.

I think if your a FAMILY GUY fan you'll really enjoy this film.

LOCKOUT 2012

I had no expectations going into this so I was quite surprised with some of it. The plot is kind of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK though, would have made for a great 3rd ESCAPE FROM film IMO.

I didn't know Luc Besson was involved with LOCKOUT. I'm a fan of his as well, and I'm really looking forward to his new film MALAVITA, which is due sometime next year and starts shooting this summer.

For me, it's probably my most anticipated film of 2013 so far. And, you're right, they have a great cast in place so far. I wonder when they'll round out the rest of the cast, as all that's been confirmed so far have been Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Dianna Agron, and Tommy Lee Jones.

The Batman film, yesterday. Awful. Michael Caine jawdroppingly bad. All of it acted with so very, very much "meaning" to disguise the absence of excitement or threat. Felt I lived all of those umpteen months the clock was ticking. On and on it went, stumbling around for something to do, marking time, existing because it had to. Can't claim to be disappointed as my hopes were low, and it lived down to those expectations. Accordingly I suppose I should be content. On the basis it's possible to derive entertainment even from bad films, though, I am struggling. At a push, the moment when Tom Conti bumbles into view is chortlesome. I think I probably liked Mr Hardy's coat.

I agree. There are some films I'm looking forward to, but nothing that has me on my feet waiting, except for Man Of Steel For a Besson film and the overall plot synopsis, I think the cast will be great and then some. This is most definitely at the top of my list to see films .

I just seen the trailer for 'THE CAMPAIGN' with Will Farrell and it looks as though it could be as good as Step Brothers, alright maybe not that good but alright anyway.
Kind of reminds me of Will Farrell's impressions of George W. Bush.

Ain't it Cool news has a new trailer up for 'TAKEN 2' and there is a scene of a girl running along a roof top which looks like the same scene from the SKYFALL tv spot of someone riding a bike along it, anyway I think it will be hard for this sequel to live up to the first one but I'm still excited to see it.

I also read that THE HOBBIT films will be broken into three films and not 2, someone has mentioned this in a SKYFALL thread but I think it is worth mentioning it again here.

I read Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol" featuring his character Robert Langdon played by Tom Hanks in "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons" because I heard they were going to be making the 3rd film this year. However I can't imagine it being made so quickly without even having a director named yet, so I'm guessing if it will even be made it wont be until 2013. Has anyone heard anything about it?

From what I've read and heard, Mark Romanek is in the lead to direct it. Danny Strong is supposed to be attached to writing it and that was reported in February. Nothing New whatsoever. Hope I've helped a bit!

Haven't posted in a while, so will give some (brief) thoughts on a few recent cinema trips

Prometheus
Slightly dull and rather sterile, with the odd nice moment. About on par with Alien 3

Top Cat
Harmless nostalgia that didn't really deserve the critical mauling.

Chernobyl Diaries
There are DTV horror movies which have more to offer than this, and that's where this would have ended up if it hadn't been from the writer of the Paranormal Activity movies. That this was offered as a major summer release is nothing short of shocking.

Killer Joe
Sick, disturbing, funny, memorable.

Magic Mike
McConaughey has made at least two decent films in the space of a year?!? Mostly being received as hen night fodder, but guys should at least find this one of Soderbergh's better recent efforts.

The Dark Knight Rises
Ambitious, messy, surprisingly clumsy and sometimes risible; entertaining but unsatisfying.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Despite everything the origin story stuff is really good, which shocked me. Good fun and my favourite comic book film of the summer, but a weak villain and slapdash plotting stop it from being much more than that.

Ted
Funny, but there are episodes of American Dad which made me laugh more. I don't know how seriously we're meant to take the attempts at pathos or romance, but if we are, I didn't, that's for sure.

Can't wait to see more unfold for this. Looks promising. Great cast as well especially with Joel Edgerton in the lead, thought he was great in Warrior alongside Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte.
