I do like the pensiveness of the shot though. Seems a bit tense for a relaxing dip at the hotel pool.

Look, am I really alone in getting a strangely poignant LOST IN TRANSLATION-ish/Edward Hopper-ish vibe from this image? Now, I freely admit that I may be reading far, far too much into it, but Bond, to me, seems isolated, dejected and pensive here - vulnerable, even. It's the kind of shot that would have suited the start of QUANTUM OF SOLACE. It tells us nothing about the plot of SKYFALL, yet seems to speak volumes about its content, tone and overall aesthetic.

Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it, who knows? Still, isn't this much more intriguing than a common-or-garden shot of Craig holding a gun?

yeah, riigghhtt. Of course the focus is on his body. Just look at the picture. The picture isn't aimed at fanboys but at Joe and Josephine Public - and they're not bothered about the bleeding lighting. With that said, nothing wrong with the photo - just not very Bondian that's all. I do wish we'd get over this 'emotional arc' nonsense and just have Bond killing baddies and shagging women like he used to. And the Bond theme. Lots and lots of the Bond theme.

Why is it that whenever Daniel Craig takes his shirt off. No problem if we see Daniel Craig shirtless, but if we want to be intellectually honest,please note that in this picture he is not only shirtless but he's showing off half of his .

I think the intention here is to show how the film will be shot and how it will look. This is your thought, which is probably the thought of an educated and passionate-about-cinematography person, but don't make the mistake of thinking that people think the same way you do. The messages I posted above give you the proof.

So tell me, what would you prefer in this shot? Daniel Craig in a wetsuit? Simply I wish they had not chosen this picture as the first official photo of the film. Incidentally, there is no need to show your butt if you go for a swim in the pool.

Frankly...they got people talking. This worked, and it worked well. The next shot they let loose will likely be more traditional and actiony, but this photo sets a cerebral, introspective tone for the film. He looks cut, but he appears to be in a state of thought. The lighting is marvelous and glamorous. This is a very, VERY interesting first shot. It even harkens back to the opening of Dr. No, having the audience wait to see the man's face. I definitely dig it.

And, perhaps most importantly, it tells us NOTHING about the film.

I said that because like all of us here, I knew a pool sequence was shot on the Four Seasons Hotel pool. I went to London for the Holiday Seasons and spent a night there.

I'm not expecting a teaser poster until March. Then a teaser trailer in May, theatrical poster in August, and theatrical trailer in late September.

I can't remember when the CR and Quantum ones started. They'll want to time them so they run right up until late September/October at the earliest finish. I doubt we'll see production videos in the short term.

RE: teaser poster. Quantum's was out in mid-January, CR's in late April. So, it could theoretically be any time in that window.

Being that it's the 50th anniversary and a teaser poster doesn't particularly reveal much - I can't imagine why Sony wouldn't take the time to design a really sick one and get it out as soon as possible. Craig's atmospheric CR poker-table-pose and DAD's Beretta smoking in the ice come to mind.
