I wonder if "Mind the gap" would play with American audiences. Maybe I misunderestimate my compatriots, but I wonder if a majority of Americans are sufficiently familiar with that expression to recognize it in a facetious, non-literal context. A lot of people recognize it passively, as a "British expression", but it would probably be disconcerting. Better nix it just to be on the safe side. Replace it with a joke that everyone can enjoy, like Bond kneeing the guy's groin and saying, "Never leave your baggage unattended, dawg!" And then he jumps into the air and something explodes and he rides the shockwave.

The younger audiences would probably know it from MODERN WARFARE 3 - one of the stages set in the London Underground is called "Mind the Gap" ...

how did you get yourself banned......

That's not important.

I´m actually quite curious since I´ve defended you in PMs and otherwise overthere as well as here (If you want, send me a PM on the matter).

There's a subway scene in Jeffrey Caine's script for GoldenEye, where Bond ends up lying between the tracks with the train going over him.

There's even a level of the N64 version of the TWINE video game ("Underground Uprising") that involves an extensive battle in the Tube. I doubt they'll be recycling that, although you never know.

And for what it's worth, I don't think a clever line should be out of bounds just because a portion of the audience (the American mass market) might not get it. If they want to use "Mind the gap," they should go for it.

Eh eh, everyone´s gagging for a clever punchline. So am I. It´s a crime not to use Mind the Gap in a scene down in London´s tube.

The chances of the script actually containing the line in context are very, very slim ...

As a Spanish, I didn´t take the joke until I have done my research.

Now I think it´s very iconic in Britain and if Skyfall is going to be the "Britiest of the britishness" the mind-the-gap joke could have its place...

Head over to Bond and Beyond.

Who cares? Us Brits had to let it go with the Americanised nonsense in the last couple of films. Cell phone, elevator, Texas Holdem' etc. It would nice change for a modern Bond film to having something the Yanks might not get.

The worst one was Cleese using the word "zipper" in TWINE. The mere thought of it sends a shiver up my spine even now...

Now I'll be disappointed if there isn't a 'mind the gap' quip.

Yes; amazing how these things gain a momentum from the tiddliest of bits of (ostensible) evidence (and a scene that may well end up being edited out, who knows?).

Perhaps Mr Craig is undercover as a tube busker (looks the part with that "beard") and his three-legged whippet has a laserbeam in its tadger. Maybe he walks down the carriage with a bit of paper requesting money to feed his eleven children (looks the part with that "beard") and the paper's actually, oh I dunno, some kind of way of secretly passing a message to someone or other or it's about something (becoming slightly vague now).

The thought of James Bond having an Oyster card and debating whether the train goes all the way to Cockfosters is a bit depressing.

Head over to Bond and Beyond.

No Shark old boy, I´m tired of this forum rivalry, I´ve got my name on all those forums, including BAB, but my house is here, at Cbn, as it has been for a decade. Sometimes I go to Mi6 cause there are still some of the old gang there, as they are here. I know Grav and some others have the BABforums but I have faith in Cbn. I´ve never had any trouble with any member in any forum. All good sports and games. One thing I kept going wrong at was trying to be some sort of mod and calming people down. Did that inumerous times with Cap or Shadow, Grav and many others. Won´t do it again. Grew tired of it. I just wish we could just have fun. You know, live and let live.

So, anyone still believes we´ll get some pics today? I for one hope so.

Oh, and Jim, that last quip made me laugh really hard. Thumbs up.

I suppose when Mr Page said “This week” he could have been talking about by today… or by Sunday… who knows.
Fingers crossed that it's today, but it's getting dark.

Business day's over in London. I doubt it.

Then again, where's Sony marketing based? We could still see something major this afternoon. JamesPage sounded pretty certain in that post cited above.

Hmm...could this be an omen that we'll get some official Skyfall pics VERY soon?? When I stopped to fill up my car at the gas station this morning, the total mileage read: 123,007...Hmm...

That being said - Empire's not that special - might we see one of the typica "each internet outlet gets *one* picture type deals?"

Let the games begin!

Internet's about to go from "He's too short, blonde, ugly" to "Gayest first official photo ever released."

IMO, it's very Bond-ish, stylish, and he's in corking good shape!

This is moments before he goes to the changing rooms to find a young Pierce Brosnan and his shower room affections have an ulterior motive.

Never underestimate Bond HQ's abiilty to garner publicity... and remind the gayers and ladies that Bond is back.

Being able to wear it in the water is part of what you pay the $2500 for ;-)

I suppose this means that we're doomed for all time to hear press conference questions about the blue swimming trunks.

We were anyway.
