I haven't actually seen any other speculation on other forums, except for the insane theory that the black box contains M's ashes.

Don't see why it's insane at all; it's not even particularly outlandish as speculation goes.

I think it's insane because it's speculation based on speculation - which itself is based on opinion and desire rather than anything substantial. People believe the box contains M's ashes (speculation) because they are convinced M will die (the speculation the ashes theory is based on) purely because they want Judi Dench to leave the franchise, and they want her to exit in such a way that she cannot come back (opinion and desire). So the idea that the box contains M's ashes is contrusted out of leaps of logic with no solid foundation. There is no evidence that M will die at all (and frankly, it's a poor plot device - it would be far more interesting to see her forced out of her position in disgrace, have Bond convinced that it was unjustified and try to exonerate her, only to discover evidence that being fired was the least she deserved).

Thanks, I only asked because other than the words “James Bond” underneath, I couldn’t work out how you’d concluded that it was a Pinewood built set for Skyfall.

Having worked at Pinewood over the years, that picture does indeed look like the exterior of one of the larger central stages, which has been re-dressed with the apartment block and a new wall below. Those central stages and drive throughs doubled up as Goldfinger's factory for the Goldfinger DB5 car chase and Bond spying on Goldfinger.

Yes, I know what you mean, the bricks are painted like that there and it could be there.
The reason I was asking, was that the photographer in question up-loaded numerous photographs of other brick walls on the 10th of December, all with different cryptic names – It seems to be a specialty of his. I wanted to know for what reason other than the label “James Bond” on this one, leads to thinking that this is a Skyfall set.

I can see him doing a "Connery" in a few years and growing the white beard, deepening the voice and getting an MBE I like the stubble look, providing it serves a purspose of course. I actually (probably like you Germanlady )advocate that, being a good actor trumps and "shaves" any necessity for grooming into the character´s said dogmas (close shaven, black hair, scar, tall, ...). I prefer an actor to a model playing Bond. But I do find it infinitely interesting that they have Bond sport a stubble, I reckon it has something to do with the plot.

I was actually wondering if there was a remote chance we'd get a Skyfall teaser trailer in front of The Girl with the dragon tattoo (seeing as they are both thrillers from Sony/Columbia that star Daniel Craig!) but I'm guessing we would have heard about it by now, and it looks like Men in black 3 is the attached trailer anyway.

It’s also got MGM money in it, and other big films such as Spiderman, DKR have had teaser trailers out about 11 months before the release. Hobbit will have one by Christmas too.
Would a highly enigmatic, 30-second Skyfall trailer with more graphics than clips be out of the question?
It would be a new idea for Bond and very early, but things do seem to be playing out quite differently this time.

SKYFALL has a pretty tight schedule, so the shooting locations will need to be turned around pretty quickly - especially the international shoots. The major players might be hibernating, but everyone else will be working away.

Why do you think, they have such a tight schedule? They started two months earlier then usual.

Because in the past two weeks, they've filmed at a dozen different locations in London - and they're usually only there for a day at the most.

But he’s a real filmmaker with excellent judgment. He says he’s going to be working closely with Alexander Witt (who has bags of experience both directing and photographing action) but all directorial decisions will be Mendes’s.

I think it sounds like an exciting and sensible approach, I’m pleased they have the extra time to make it possible. It should lead to a uniformed style for Skyfall, unlike films such as TWINE (which had very awkward shifts between material shot by the 1st and 2nd units).

We don't know for sure that's the reason. I'd say it's more possible - given Forster's very public comments about the constricting post production routine - that Mendes demanded more time for editing/post and they bumped up the start of shooting by a couple months to accomodate.

I was under the impression the shooting schedule was extended to accommodate Mendes going back to the theater for a couple weeks and Craig's PR tour for Dragon Tattoo. Still, one hopes post production won't be rushed this time around. I'd say if there was ever a time to really methodically put together a Bond movie, this would be it.
