I like it. Expect the unexpected. In a typical poster the lead actor is on top followed by the title in the middle and the credits on the bottom. This poster turns that upside down and puts Bond on the bottom. Symbolic of the story in the film. He's down but not out.
Excellent, symbolic rationalization. But this marketing department isn't that smart. Everything - everything - that can be wrong with a poster, is wrong with that poster.

Give us some retro 70's (TSWLM or LALD) or 60's (TB or YOLT) stuff chaps.
*note to Eon and more so to Sony/Columbia* Take a look at CBn's Skyfall Fan Art thread and kick your lazy photoshop summer vacation interns to the curb.
Bond and the fans deserve some effort.
I'll leave it at that before I go in to a complete Grandpa Simpson "Back in my day" rant.

That just can't be the final poster. If it's the final poster, then the guys behind the US poster for Licence to Kill are now officially off the hook for the worst Bond poster ever.

Still better than what we were given today.

Absolutely true, and that's just something we should never have to say about a Bond poster.
I'm not one that's overly enthusiastic about celebrating anniversaries, such as the 50th that Bond is celebrating with Skyfall (I would have just ignored it and pressed on if I were EON, maybe giving a slight tip of the cap to it here and there, but nothing major), but you'd have to think that if they're going to celebrate it, they'd come up with something better than that dreadful poster.

I whole Heatedly agree. I liked the teaser poster as in my opinion it is iconic. I enjoyed the character posters, but the US final sheet is just simply plain. The pose is great, It probably would've worked as a game cover, but as a final poster, no. Perfect for a theater banner or to be on display on the side of a bus. I guess the marketing team though "Less is more"
We deserve something better.

I don't even like the pose, to be honest. There's nothing about the poster to like, in my opinion. It features a bad pose, awkward placement of the credits and title, and just a strange usage of the 007 logo (most of which is blocked by Craig).

Also, it´s very simple, clear, unfussy, has a big 007. Nobody will be asking themselves what this film is. Okay, so that´s a good thing.
Is it Bond with a capital B? No, not in a million years. Granted, previous Bond posters were pretty cluttered, putting everything on it to the point of just offering too much. But that was the charme for me. Or am I just too much of a sucker for nostalgia?
Having said that, I DO NOT BELIEVE that this is the final poster.
Don´t they really want to show the female attractions? Or Javier Bardem? Or anything else from the film?
Can´t believe that.
Well, at least I´m still hoping for a different European "final poster".

I look at the photo of Fiennes, and all I see is M.
Aaannnnddd the facebook page just labelled that shot of Craig lying on the ground with the gun as the official US domestic One Sheet. Absolutely terrible.
I looked at the facebook page, and they do NOT say that this is the final poster. Just a NEW poster.
So... all this discussion is absolutely unnecessary.
It is just one more poster - using the banner which we already are familiar with.
Relax, people.
This is NOT the FINAL poster.

"it has the same background as the teaser poster and London in the background as well James bond in a suit upclose and a gun in his hand "

People seem to suggest that calling creativity by what was once an industry standard as 'photoshopped', is the ultimate put down. Were it that Photoshop ever came near the offerings thus far, would have commensurately improved the designs.
Since we are in the business of critiquing product, suffice to say, this last poster seems to plummet to brand new depths of hideous awfulness. Extrapolating the trend, I fear we will go further.
As for the agencies costs, if it were any more than a dollar 98, they would still have been overpaid.

I wish they'd hired Drew Struzan to create a 50th anniversary poster. Something painted compared to these Photoshop creations.
Here's a quick painty version!
Just a bit of fun: I really like the photographic version.
