We are always treated to seeing wounded and soliders escaping who don't directly shoot or attack Bond, hence the 'GoldenEye' tank chase, they are just caught up in it. We can take shooting baddies, but crushing them in tanks is too far for Bond!
It's that line of who is good and bad, and the more humane approach to characters that makes it more 'real' I think.

Well he doesn't hurt anyone in the tank (they seem to feel a need to show people struggling out of the flattened cars!)
That's true, Mark. But it's more through luck than judgement!

The most interesting thing about that is that in terms of filmmaking, they wanted to show us that the people were unhurt. It’s like the way they showed us the guy being pulled from the truck at the end of LTK. It’s almost as if there was an unwritten law in Bond - not only shouldn’t the innocent be killed, they should be seen not to be killed.

I've heard something similar in a Bond-related interview before. I assume it was a stunt co-ordinator who was speaking; he said that in the GOLDENEYE tank chase sequence, he was compelled to add in a brief shot of civilians fleeing their vehicles "because this is a Bond movie", and they couldn't have innocents being killed left, right and centre. Interesting.

So they have markedly abandoned that philosophy now.

Well, good. Magically sparing civilians from harm is a patronizing cheat. If you're going to drive a tank through a crowded city street, at least have the decency to maim some innocent bystanders.
Exactly. Which is why i loved that bystander getting shot in QOS during the foot chase at the beginning. Collateral damage, it's a reality unfortunately.
And it's a Bond film, let's see a LITTLE bit of carnage at least.

Yeah it's weird: the tank chase effectively stops for a second to show us the policeman getting out of the crushed car!
Got to be honest though; I do sort of prefer it that way. It puts Bond into dodgy moral ground as a movie hero if his actions lead to innocents' deaths.

He actually rolls off the roof of the train and hangs on with one hand! Maniac! Ola's looks like he's chasing Bond or being chased.

Looks very exciting! Great to see these developments...can't help thinking of 'Octopussy' though! But not a bad thing...!
Very true, i can't believe i didn't see the Octopussy parallels TCR. But at least Bond is wearing a suit this time and not some ridiculous red and brown garb...

Agreed. I always got an Octopussy vibe with Bonds escape from the Hotel in Quantum of Solace, as well.

Also. I always thought Bond was lucky when he first escapes with the tank and does't crush a school bus full of children when he drives though that concrete wall .

I imagine that following the announcement of the Portuguese title, this is what we were expecting for the Spanish language version.
