Do you remember the rumour that Eon was buying some old VW Beetles? Could it be related?
Any idea where is the University they are talking about?

Some extras wearing uniform had already been filmed on the first day of filming around Smithfield Market

The actual geography around the castle might matter very little.
The Eden Project’s bio-domes were plucked out of Cornwell and placed on a frozen expanse in Iceland.

The article mentioned Rannoch Moor as an example of the look they wanted.

There aren't many places like that in Wales, let alone with any nearby castles.

Absolutely correct. I'm heading to the Highlands on Friday. Scotland is a magical place.

Looks a bit too much like a Walt Disney castle for Bond, I think.

Really? I’ll concede that it has a strong element of fantasy about it, which I think could be a good thing, if handled well.
But it’s, not what I’d call kitsch and it’s much more architecturally interesting than a plastic, theme park castle, don’t you think?

Maybe, but the revival Gothic design does look a bit kitsch.

University of Greenwich, but it appears the filming there today was for PARADE'S END, with the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch.

Yes, it was restored by a Victorian multimillionaire with an obsession for building OTT, grand things. So, as you say, it’s more of a neo-gothic folly thanks to that.

Still, ego-indulgent, multimillionaires doing such things can’t help but suggest a Bond villain to me.

Perhaps - but only if it were in Scotland. If the castle was used and the film was rewritten to be somewhere in Germany, then perhaps the kitsch factor will be downplayed.

It might be interesting to note that Castell Coch featured in the Albert R Broccoli produced swashbuckler ‘The Black Knight’ with Alan Ladd back in 1954.

Anyway, it’s unlikely to be used in Skyfall, I just mentioned it as an example of a non-ruined, non-surrounded by a town castle in Wales.

Might mean everything or nothing (in terms of gunbarell etc)
http://www.tempo.com...raig-gets-real/

Craig is currently in the middle of filming his third Bond film, ”Skyfall,” which he calls ”as Bond-like as possible.”

”We’re not going for something deep and meaningful,” the actor says. ”It’s not a great character study. It’s going to start the way Bond films always start, and it’s going to finish the way they always finish, and everything in between.”

Sounds like he's going to wind up in bed with Berenice or Naomi at the end, too.

From someone who´s been following the Bond filmmaking process for a long time, hearing that is just...odd, simply paradoxal. Not a character study? No layers? No exploring the dark character of the man. That´s just strange. Still...IT`S ABOUT TIME!!! It´s just a movie, like old Hitch used to say. Many folks around here should be glad to hear this. Now we can only hope that Bond has fun in a couple of scenes, oh and some gratuitous sex and violence. That´d be Bond with a capital B.

I don't think Dan means it in quite that absolute of a way. He's just implying they're not carrying any pretension about it. I wouldn't call Casino Royale a 'great character study' either, but it was a more layered and meaningful Bond film than we'd basically ever seen. Skyfall will no doubt be along those lines.

Seems to me he's simply suggesting it starts with a gunbarrell, ends with him necking the female lead, and doesn't stop in the middle to hammer the audience with anything too disheartening (IE action scenes you can barely see, or a potently real-world message about environmentalism). [DISCLAIMER: Coming from someone who, actually, thoroughly enjoyed most of QOS].

Guess he's going to get the girl in the end. Wish they'd keep away from that for a little while longer but it's fine. I hope we get a big stunt to open the film. That reminds me...do we know of ANY concrete stunt sequences planned for the film?

Yes, I find it utterly strange too. It goes hand-in-hand in terms of outright oddness with Harris saying that Eve was “Not Bond’s equal”.

Aside from total confusion as to whether the train/motorcycle jump think is still going to be shot somewhere, no we don't - and I love that.

And it doesn’t stop there. I'm another one who's been following the Bond filmmaking process for a long time and I’m finding the making of this one very different. It’s fascinating that we don’t even know most of the main character’s names, what a ‘Skyfall’ is or what this film is actually about…

ITG (Maggie Smith’s Agents) seems to run her official Facebook page. Yesterday they posted the following.

Maggie in the latest 007 Movie??? Wherever did you hear such a rumour...?

As nobody had heard anything of the sort before they posted that, it does seem as if something might be on the cards and they are being a bit playful. Interesting.
