Looking forward to the @RogueRacing1 #007 eve tonight. James Bond's job always looked awesome to me, I wonder if pussy galore will be there?

AndyNeate Andy Neate

@RogueRacing1 smashy & nicey on the decks tonight :)

Is he hinting to the fact that the chase will take place on the decks??

No "smashy & nicey on the decks tonight" is a joke about something else. British comedy thing...

I think you might be reading a bit to much into this exchange, I think it's a motor sports club have an 007 evening.

Well, the exclusive info I can bring you from the Bond set: the catering van has some nice cyclamens on display.

I guess all the action happens later. I am going home.

Daniel Craig is keeping in shape between takes:
@Simrice Simon Rice
Just a standard Thursday gym session after work. Except I was sharing weights with Daniel Craig
45 minutes ago

Any idea which gym this is?

It's the Eric Serra Gymn, for rubbish composers - all Bond personel get honorary membership.

What the hell is your problem, mate?

If you're going to take the piss of Serra, at least learn how to spell "gym" and "personnel."

If I remember correctly, the Tower Bridge is the nearest bridge to Arklow Road. If I had to shoot a car chase sequence in London the most spectacular location I would choose is the Tower Bridge. Mere coincidence?

Is it the same bridge?

I heard something last night, and forgive me if this is common knowledge, I haven't read this thread all the way through but: I heard that they are not going to film in Shanghai at all.

I don't want to say how I heard it, but basically someone working on the film was planning on being in Shanghai for several weeks next year but now that has all been scrapped, and they are building sets here, apparently.

Then again, surely they have to do some filming there?

No. The Wirral is in Liverpool, North West England. That's where Daniel Craig grew up. The "lift bridge near Twelve Quays ferry terminal" crosses the River Mersey.

Any source on the Shanghai thing? If they drop Shanghai, then they've dropped two major filming locations without naming new locations to substitute for them. What would be left, apart from London? Istanbul?

Scotland...

That's the other location Pussfeller is referring to. Shooting was going to take place at Castle Duntrune, but then production withdrew and gave no indication of where they might go as an alternate venue. To the best of our knowledge, Scotland is no longer in the film.

No source I'm afraid, I'm suddenly nervous about getting my friend into trouble!

But let's be clear: I was told this by a friend who knows someone working on the film. There's room for error. But the impression I got was that although Shanghai was still in the film, they would not be filming there. When he said "they're building sets here" it made me think of those clearly indoors soundstage sets in the Venice scenes in Casino Royale. Also, didn't someone say that the filming at Ascot racecourse (presumably in the very modern, relatively new complex there) was to 300 Chinese extras? That would tie in with them "faking Shanghai" as it were. Maybe it's a budget thing? Maybe I should stop speculating about things I know very little about!

The reason why the Chinese extras were used at Royal Ascot is because Royal Ascot was doubling for Shanghai Pudong Airport. It is very, very difficult to shut an airport down for filming - especially a busy one like Pudong. It's a common practice in the film industry to do this.

As for the sets in Pinewood, this is again a common practice. The safehouse and the art gallery in QUANTUM OF SOLACE were both sets built at Pinewood, as was the interior of the Andean Grand Hotel. Not everything is filmed on location because it's simply too expensive to fly out to locations and there are no guarantees that they will be able to find a place in Shanghai that would fit the needs of the script. So they build sets at Pinewood instead.

Well Sam Mendes said they were filming in Scotland and the official Eon press release says they will film in Scotland.
Castle Duntrune was confirmed by the castle’s owners and the castle’s owners only. Eon confirmed nothing as far as it was concerned.
I fully expect to see Scotland and a castle there in the film.

From what I understand, they were going to film there for about one week. So that does not gel with this person saying they were expecting to film there for 'several weeks'.

Other parts of China, according to other information (and to some extent the official statements), would have had the crew there for 3 to 4 weeks. At this stage, I don’t see any real reason to think that this plan has changed.

Yeah I know everything isn't filmed on location (your Captain Obvious picture would come in handy here ;) ) but my "source" specifically said they were building sets because filming in Shanghai had been scrapped. But this is not a watertight story of course, he could have misunderstood, Chinese whispers (no pun intended), massive pinch of salt etc...

Interesting, although if they had scrapped that one week of filming, that would be quite significant wouldn't it? Still, fingers crossed that's not the case

@Jess_Bethany yeah! Judie dench is there (she waved at my dad) and they are giving him a full fry up and dinner cause he is there so long!

So M and the DB5 were there last night, and they were apparently filming a car chase. Is Bond trying to protect M? Does he drive her to safery?

Interesting. Could give us the opportunity to see M´s reaction to Bond´s driving and use of gadgetry "in loco". A different spin on the "...his job" line from TND. Could end up being quite the humorous segment.

Or does M push Bond away from the car, saying, "Let me show you how this is done, 007" and, slipping behind the wheel, screech away at speed, revealing that she was once a rally-class driver in her own right?

In the scene, Bond is seen swimming before having a drink at a glitzy poolside martini bar.

I don't think there is actually a bar at Canary Riverside's pool. I can't find any mention of it by Googling it. They've likely seen the clapperboard shot of the martini bad and put two and two together because both scenes were filmed at night.

My impression is that the reporter has learned the gossip from the gym staff and then has added what he found on the website of mi6 to make the article complete.

I think you could be right....the reporter might have likely make a mistake about the two scene having some kind of connection
