Do you remember the clapperboard titled "Dry Martini"? Very probably that scene is really set in Shanghai...
Look here: Orion Lee ,Shanghai bartender
http://www.castingca....php?uid=226484

I saw something suggesting there is a Martini bar at that pool in Shanghai so that seems to work out!

MI6 suggested that – I think they'd seen the clapperboard with the bar in the background and then the filming at the pool and put 2 and 2 together. However, I think they are separate scenes; the clapper was from the day before anyway and they were not filming at the spa that day. Confusion was caused by the notice saying that the film makers were using the spa that day, but that was for setting-up for the next day - if you see what I mean.

MI6 also seemed to think that the blackouts on the pool windows suggested that it would not be in London. But there were blackouts on all the windows during the day, but they were obviously taken down at night, otherwise the press spy photos could not have been taken through the windows. I’d suggest that the blackouts were there because the scene is at night but large parts were filmed during daylight.

By jove! You´re right! The pannels weren´t there at night, otherwise pics would not have been taken. So the blackouts during the day served the single purpose of faking nightime for some scenes and then, for the swimming scene they used the view. That would be the logical assumption anyway, right? I agree with you Shrublands, all the way. I´m willing to bet the swimming scene is in London, not Shangai.

MI6 suggested that because they've read the artice by Daily Star wich claimed the following:

"In the scene, Bond is seen swimming before having a drink at a glitzy poolside martini bar.

The filming required the spa area of the hotel and gym to be closed to the public for the duration.

And despite the Virgin Active infinity pool having great views of the River Thames, the windows were blacked out while the shoot took place.

It is thought the location will double for a scene set in Shanghai. "

Actually, the MI6 article appeared well before the Star’s – and I suspects it’s where that trashy rag got most of its copy.
They just made-up the bit about the dirty dressing rooms.

Yes, JamesPage would never post as news something from the Star without trowing at it a huge rock salt. It was probably the other way around.
There is, of course, that casting bit that informs that the bartender is asian, although the bar scene and the pool scene are most likely not the same. So the bar scene can still be in Shangai and the pool in London, where Bond is already getting back in shape for active duty.

Exactly, this one bit of logic points to only one conclusion, in my opinion.
The pool is quite unexceptional without the view anyway.

Yep, I was quite disapointed at the time when I saw the pannels on the river side.

Yes, I think that's about it - the bar is in Shanghai and the pool London.

Go to Skyfall's actual CPC page and there are some other extras' interesting roles confirmed. (IE chaueffeur, MI6 agent vs. EMBEDDED MI6 agent, "Nadine", etc.)

http://www.castingca...w.php?uid=51525

Kinda cool.

A few observations…

If you click on Yusei Sugimoto who plays ‘Security’ you will see Ascot Racecourse listed as the venue for his performance. So he’s a security guard at Shanghai airport.

The 'Embedded MI6 Agent' fits with the deep cover theory.

'Art Gallery Goer' shows that The National Gallery is appearing as The National Gallery and not standing in for something else.

She's playing nondescript "MI6 agent", so I'm sure she'll blur through the background quickly with great importance. :)

We know that in Skyfall M will have a greater part than in the past. But this recent addition to the Castingcallpro database shows without any doubt that Dame Judy Dench will be involved even in action scenes...

I'm looking forward to the car chase in DB5. Let's just hope there's an ejector seat.

If that's the case, I'm guessing the talk of a late-night car chase through London in the DB5 might very well be true - we know Dench was on-set for it.

How would you feel about a scene where M is attacked and Bond must escort her safely across the city?

And would your feelings towards that scene be any different if M was played by Bernard Lee?

To number 1: Good. Kinda interesting angle there.
To number 2: Yes. I´d be ecstatic.

That being said, and knowing that the questions weren´t meant to be anwsered by yours truly, I think you´ve nailed it Cap, and if that turns out to be the case, I´ll be quite happy with that scene, if scripted well.

Another clue that can add credibility to the voice of a night car chase is the presence of Gary Powell on set ( I did some research).

http://www.whiltonmi...Bond Go Karting

"Gary Powell and his stunt team take a break from filming the latest Bond movie “Skyfall” to test their new “Jade karts” at Whilton Mill. Currently working nights at a secret location - the team could not resist the temptation to exchange well earned rest for more adrenaline fuelled action."

I also found other infos which confirm he was on set that night.

There is no reason for the stunt cooordinator to be there if all you want to film is only a trip by car ...

It's a car chase with the DB5, and M's in the sequence, hence the stunt double.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I was simply responding to The Shark's disparaging comments towards the idea of M being in an action sequence without knowing any details of that sequence. A chase across London in the DB5 with Bond trying to escort M to safety has the potential to be a really good scene, but The Shark was instantly critical simply because it involved Judi Dench.
