Wow. He posts a ton of stuff. What did he do that earned him a sudden ban?
Was dangerously close to another copyright infringement thing/revealing details that would rile up Eon, a la 2002. For more information, contact Jim...

Guess he just went too deep.

Understandable, we don't want to be playing that game. But wow, immensely sudden. I wonder if he'd perhaps been warned OTR before.

Granted, posting unauthorized pages of the Skyfall script is justification for being banned
Is that what he did? Fair play, that is foolish, he should have known better.

Cool article ggl. And that site is awesome.
Marketto is not just "another user". Please, Jim, think again about that.
Ironically, I wrote this in an Spanish newspaper a few days ago: http://jamesbondbras...ornal-espanhol/
It is about SkyFall and how Sony threatens people...
Thank you, Univex. Agree about the site

From what I understand, their schedule is slightly ahead of what was previously planned but I'd have expected them to be in Istanbul for a little bit longer. However, Luigi's information suggests they're done now. I guess after Adana, location filming in Turkey will wrap up in Varda and the Torturum Falls (maybe) before the unit returns to Pinewood to finish.End of May, early June - quote DC as of recent. I think, they are not sure themselves.

Comparisons between this situation and moderating disagreements / bad temper don't work. In the latter case, one has to see whether it's a genuine disagreement or a genuine misunderstanding and initial perceptions of humour or bad temper / winding up are often not immediately borne out. Sometimes much can be lost (or perceived to be found) in translation.
This is different - the member posted a link to pages of the Skyfall script. That isn't a perception - it's an inalienable fact. One doesn't post here by accident. It was either a deliberate or a reckless act. The member must have taken a decision to do this, in the face of a previous incident posting call sheets and the requirement to remove them.
For those who query the value of ten years' presence on the site, I query it too. It's no secret and has frequently been brought up during the past decade that there was serious - extremely serious - trouble for us in 2002 and that incident has pretty much shaped the exceptionally cautious approach we have taken for the past ten years, to the extent that it is a defining characteristic of the site. Anyone ignoring that chooses to do so out of spite, or total disregard for the site and its members or is spectacularly thick, or a combination of all three. The last ten years must have meant something, surely? it's not so much the value placed on one member of however many years' standing that's the issue; it's the colossal disregard for the interests of the site and the membership as a whole that troubles me. Ten years on the site and one would have expected more of someone with only ten minutes on it. Mutual trust and confidence, surely, and some accountability for one's own behaviour?
One notes that the member concerned has not posted the material on its own site, preferring (it would seem, be it by design or incredible foolishness) to put this site and its interests at risk rather than its own. Just don't like the look of that at all, although I fully accept it's a perception and not a reality and one must maintain the distance between the two.
Upon the perceptions of ego, again that would appear to be a salient point: the member, apparently keen to post this, posted under its own username account. Granted there's an argument that if deviousness and disruption were intended, it would have done so under a proxy, which could lead one to the conclusion that this is most gently perceived as an (another) act of the most overwhelming stupidity but nothing more sinister. However, that the member has since attempted to reactivate / rejoin under markedly similar usernames doesn't indicate much contrition or a desire not to be applauded by some anonymous typing for finding out some stuff about something which at the end of all our long lives we will probably regard as a film we might well have seen. There are more serious consequences than not looking at nice, encouraging messages from random usernames; we can for a start do without a ten year anniversary revisitation of the nasty, discouraging messages from those whose property this is.
The opportunity - and capacity - for all members to continue posting must outwieigh the reckless desire of one to expose us to risk.
This member was not the only one who sought to post the link. These others have gone too.
Those who decry the action, I don't mind. Pause to reflect upon your continuing opportunity to do so. I am far happier that you type your messages about this action and your views of me and the stance taken than not being able to at all.

The final point is on the action taken. Couple of things here - given the disregard to the incident with the call sheets, does anyone really believe a quiet word would actually have worked? How many more times would the risk be ignored in the pursuit of trite applause? Not evidently setting a record of paying any attention to amusing other than posting things. What happened here is pretty much the unholiest of unholies in what one can do on this site - ban. Others have, as has been noted, been banned for far less.
On the wiping of the record, that's a mechanical matter - for whatever reason since the forum update the only moderation tool I can seem to find is one that relabels all a transgressing members' posts as spam, hence you can't see them. If in due course that can be worked around then if there's enough interest by that stage I suppose posts could be reinstated but - be in no doubt - due to this insanely selfish and ignorant act, the member will not be.
Forum policy, bottom right hand corner of the screen, worth a re-read if you need to.

I was going to post something, but you've nailed it all Matt. Great post. Thanks Jim. Sad to see Marketto go, but exceptions can't be made. It's a matter of common sense. Many of us love this website, and use it as an outlet to talk about something we like with others who share the same passion. Posting copyrighted material that outright does not belong to us brings with it the threat of legal action, and in turn the loss of this space for discussion. Exciting times are ahead. It's really not worth jeopardizing our ability to talk about what is to come just for the sake of getting a few more spoilers for some film we will inevitably all be seeing. In effect, use your heads, listen to the moderators, and don't post what isn't yours.

I for one don't want to see anyone in trouble legally about links or posts that really aren't important to risk things like this, rather than just debate what we know and wait a few more months for all to be revealed!
This site and the members are all one big family and will support actions taken by 'The Board' to stop it being torn apart, as I for one don't want to see it go or encounter trouble. We're all to good for that to happen!
Group hug?
Ok not yet...

1 month not more. Sad, they will finish so soon. Time flies....

I must admit, I don't feel like we helped Marketto by encouraging his at times reckless quest for information. Often whatever he dug up was met with jubilation from other members, even the stuff that put cb.n at risk.
Bond fandom recently shows signs of a strange kind of addiction to news. All kind of news, regardless how interesting or banal. We don't care, we want to know it all. No - we have to know it all. And right now and more of it!
This is an addiction which in my view goes beyond what fans suffered from in previous years, during previous productions, and probably it's mostly due to our constant 24/7 online connection today. I experience it myself, there's no reason why others should be immune to it. Our craving is such that we greedily soak up everything we can get. And share it at the next possible opportunity. For this is the great thing about fandom, we can add to the enjoyment by sharing and discussing.
Only Eon don't owe us anything. What we get we only get because they decide so. And whatever comes our way without their approval is bound to get us into trouble. It's not so hard to understand this, is it? Yes, there's been a feeling recently that fandom is doing them a favour and they ought to be grateful somehow. Forget about it, that's nothing but presumptuous self-delusion. Eon decide and it's not ours to reason why and what. They set the rules and these are the only rules we can play by.

Sad in some ways, but also exciting as it means that the editing will begin fully and the film gets closer and closer!

I don't remember what happens after filming stops. We get the teaser in May, but after this? Anything gonna happen apart from a teaser poster, a trailer later on? I don't think so...Turkey was the only part, where informations and pics and clips really got going. Everything else seemed a bit underwhelming. So, personally, I am just getting warmed up and its almost over. Ratz...

The period between the end of filming and the movie's release is always the most frustrating part of the process, and I guess interest briefly fades among some people, but it's the producers' job to keep the public interested and enthusiastic.

I think the first major thing to look forward to will be the teaser trailer, followed by a poster and eventually the main theatrical trailer.
To fill the gaps, I hope the official website will continue with its videoblogs and occasional bits of footage, as I think they're getting better and better.

Question? WHY DON'T YOU UPDATE THE NEWS FRONT PAGE BEFORE BANNING SOMEBODY THAT HAS KEPT US UPDATED WITH THE WORLD OF SKYFALL?
Kind regards,
Nic
Hardly the big picture now is it? It has been repeated many a time that this board doesn't have the capacity to constantly update the front page. Because this is an internet site... and we have busy lives. To further show the irrelevance of caps lock in this situation, if CBn updated the front page with the content in question a front page or a CBn would cease to exist. Bit of a non sequitur don't you think?

I think this will be the case, studios are looking at successful campaigns like the Lord of the Rings video updates, the Nolan Batman films etc and seeing that fans want to be kept informed. To fill the gaps, I hope the official website will continue with its videoblogs and occasional bits of footage, as I think they're getting better and better.

On topic: Am I wrong to assume teaser posters usually come before teaser trailers? I feel like websites always have at least a poster to accompany a new released trailer?
