A number of people involved, (and it does look that way to me following the production), say that the Istanbul sequence is the biggest and most exciting in the film.
This is one of the most worrying things I’ve heard. Like OP and TWINE, having the most spectacular and action packed sequence right at the start sets a film off balance. Like having sticky toffee pudding before your main course is not a very rewarding way to plan a meal.

But Mendes is too sensible for that, yes?

From what I've read, the common sense and understanding about the Bond films and a decent story structure from Mendes is very convincing, and I'm glad he's on board to take the series further up the ladder. I just said in another topic, my faith in him is very secure...I am praying it is still there on screen when we see how the teaser footage looks and when the film actually opens....but I am sure it will not waver!

That was one of the most entertaining and informative articles I have read since the producers opened the gates on publicity of the film. Thanks, Luigi. I look forward to more from this journalist.

They all look like hell. It's been a long shoot. Finish line's in sight, though.

Just gotta get through editing, visual effects, sound mixing, digital intermediate, scoring, ADR, possible re-shoots and pickup shots...

But yeah, principal photography should be done soon! ;-)

Like it or not, CR was this way too if you think about it. There were plenty outstanding parts but as far as action pieces go, the opening sequence to CR was its best action piece.

I also felt the first action scene in CR was more entertaining then the last one in Venice, although one could argue the scene is more about Vesper's death. I felt CR was to long and QOS to short and they are. CR is the longest Bond film while QOS is the shortest and I think SF will be the most even and best of the Craig films thus far.

Good point. It's just I haven't been this excited about a Craig film yet, Q's returning and I'm looking forward to seeing Bardem and Fiennes on screen and how their characters play out. Also I hope to see some well done throw backs for the 50th annivrsary and what surprises they have for us.

This is one reason why I work in POST-production!

Seriously, this is a demanding shooting schedule, given the scope of the film and the release date. And to think, EON's gotta start thinking about BOND 24 soon, given Sony's declaration of a 2014 release.

Sounds like they'll be getting the big action beat out of the way upfront, leaving us with a more taught thriller like Mendes has been indicating. Plenty of fights, shootouts, and stunt sequences, but nothing as over the top as the intro. I'm guessing the body of the film will be all atmospheric tension.

Not very likely. DC just said a few days ago, they will go maybe into early June. It was always the saying, that after Turkey, they will have to finish off in London.

Ostensibly script sections. We were nearly shut down in 2002 for that sort of [censored]ing stupid behaviour so anyone trying to do it now just gets instant ban, haven't got the patience to discuss ins and outs nor demonstrate mercy. Just [censored] off back to Cretin Land.
