They've previously used The Mall as a location base on several occasions. That may have been the case again.

I wonder what the Buckingham Palace stuff is about.

The pictures on Twitter which people say are filming near Buckingham Palace are actually quite a long way down The Mall. I think it's more likely to be a unit base - otherwise I'd have expected more photos of actual filming.

The 77-year-old was spotted yesterday back on the set of the new James Bond movie Skyfall and the actress looked happy to be back.
Filming at Tower Hill, London, she said: 'There are some brilliant sets and it's being directed by Sam Mendes, who I worked with, oh, when he was a little baby boy really'.

Central London Sees More ‘Skyfall’ Filming
The weekend of February 18 and 19 saw more scenes for ‘Skyfall’ being shot in central London, near Victoria Embankment and in Whitehall and Parliament Square.
On Saturday February 18 areas in the centre of Whitehall, including Whitehall Place (near the site of the original Scotland Yard), Whitehall Court and Horse Guards Avenue were all booked for ‘Skyfall’ filming, but shooting was postponed at the last minute and held over to the next day. However, in contrast to some reports, the JBIFC can reveal that some filming did still take place on February 18, using some interiors instead.
The February 18 filming switched to a location near Temple tube station, which is close to Victoria Embankment. The Bond team made use of the buildings of the Inner Temple, which lie sandwiched between Fleet Street and Victoria Embankment. Unit vehicles and custom-built location lorries were parked for the day in Temple Place, and arc lights could be seen in the Inner Temple gardens, shining up at the outside of one of the main buildings. Security was tight, and only one paparazzi photographer turned up, but soon left. At one point in the morning, a unit crane was used to elevate some men to the near-top of the building to vigorously clean some windows close to where the interior scenes were being shot.
The ‘Inner Temple’ buildings, located not far from the famous Somerset House, are the site of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, commonly known as the ‘Inner Temple’, and is one of the four Inns of Court (professional associations for barristers and judges) in London. The Inn contains several buildings, some of them modern and some of them much older. The Inner Temple is regularly used for film and TV locations, but permission for shooting is only granted for weekends.
The following day (Sunday November 19), further ‘Skyfall’ filming took place around, near, and in Parliament Square and Pall Mall. The scenes involved Dame Judi Dench’s acting double being filmed in ‘M’s Jaguar car, which was driven close to and by Parliament in Parliament Square. Dame Judi herself was also later filmed in Cadogan Square, which is located not far from Sloane Square tube station in Chelsea. A special rain-making machine was set up in the evening to create heavy rain, and ‘M’ was seen being helped from a building to the door of her official car by an assistant, who held an umbrella over ‘M’ to shelter her from the rain. It will prove to be a very atmospheric scene in the final movie, with the wet street reflecting various lights and colours.

Yes, the only thing I think they've got wrong is that, if you look at the photos from that night shoot, it appears that the assistant is sheltering M from the rain as she leaves the back of the car and goes to the flat. I'm convinced M is visiting Bond in his Chelsea flat, and the scenes that follow are Bond and M in the DB5 making a fast getaway from London at night.

That would be all degrees of awesomeness! The night rain shoot reminds of Road to Perdition. If Deakins can pull that atmosphere I´ll be one happy fan. Thumbs up Col.

Ah, "according to The Sun" - those magic words!

The filming of the DB5 in Scotland was definitely not a car chase, so I think we can move on from that for another few weeks until the rumour resurfaces once more.

The paper that predicted the incident on Vauxhall bridge months back, you mean? Amongst other things?

I thought there was no chance of a DB5 chase, but if The Sun are saying there is it makes me slightly less sceptical.

Don't get me wrong - on this forum I've historically defended the strength of The Sun's sources on Bond stories, but I still think we're a decent way off taking everything they report as nailed-on truth. Their stories have generally been accurate in broad brush strokes, but it's in the detail that the accuracy has slightly wavered at times.

I'm sure we'll see Bond driving the Aston Martin DB5 at high speeds in SKYFALL but I don't think it will necessarily be a "chase" scenario, as there has not been any other vehicles seen on the days that the DB5 has been filmed - plus filming of the DB5 has been completed within hours. Naturally, this may not hold any water in the final product, but that's my view for now.

Yes, I’ve defended them too. (Good God, and the Mail – what the hell have I come to?)
What tends to happen is, they get a bit of truth, then they exaggerate it up.
But it’s useful not to just dismiss what they write out of hand, but to look for what truth it might contain - if you see what I mean.

Yeah I agree: they clearly do have sources and what they write is based in fact; they just add a bit to the mix or misinterpret.
I too am sceptical of a DB5 chase; but they haven't finished filming yet- who knows what could happen? I'm not ruling it out as much as I had done before.

Maye it will be a pseudo-chase, with Bond and M racing through the night because they know the villains are out there, and they know the villains will do everything they can to stop them, so they can't afford to slow down until they're outside the city. We would never actually see the villains (and neither would Bond and M), but they would be out there.

Or they may need to get to a certain place by a certain time, and so high-speed driving is necessary.
