It will be equipped with machine guns similar to the 1964 car that appeared originally in Goldfinger

That is the part that really interested me. If true would there by a Q scene explaining it or would it just be self explanatory?

There may be a scene with Q, but this article was posted by The Sun - and as a tabloid, The Sun cannot be trusted as a source.

Developers apparently vetoed filming of SKYFALL at the Shard in London. http://uk.reuters.co...E81R09B20120228

Western Europe's tallest skyscraper, the 1,016-feet Shard nearing completion next to London Bridge train station, turned down makers of the new James Bond film Skyfall, which has been filming near the Tower of London, even though it has not yet signed an office tenant.

"It is disruptive. We do not need those kind of gimmicks," a spokesman for developer Sellar Property Group said.

Fleming was all about the snobbery, but that's a dumb decision. Rationalized with an even dumber quote.

Not really; they have a job to do which is to get this massive, incredibly expensive building ready on time, and to do it safely. It's perfectly understandable that they wouldn't want hundreds of film crew traipsing through it, ruining their schedules, possibly hurting themselves, and costing them money.

Should be more like "it's disruptive. We don't need free global advertising for our buildings."

Mission impossible IV was great for Burj Khalifa. Though I understand that may be comparing apples and oranges.

Is that implying that some of the interiors (e.g. the lift shaft) maybe intended to be the Shard?

Quite - beginning to worry people have lost all sense of perspective about quite how disruptive it must be to do "some film" on real locations in the centre of London. Statistically, chances are the majority of people whose work and means of getting to work are being disrupted won't go to see this film.

Well if there are cranes, it must be a Bond location. Seems to be the current thinking. I wonder if those are fixed cranes or floating cranes or jamfatty cranes?

That wasn't a building site.

Seriously; imagine the producers of the Bond films being asked to let another massive movie come along and use their sets right in the middle of them filming Skyfall. How would you feel about that? That it would be good free advertising for Skyfall? Or just a little disruptive?

Forgive my American ignorance, misunderstanding and misinterpretation. I was unfamiliar with the building and failed to grasp that it was incomplete. I was under the assumption it was. Therefore I agree, it wouldbe absurd. Especialy is construction is already behind. I know at least here in the states many construction projects are given a sizable monetary package for completing a job ahead of time. No way would I accomadate for a film, even Bond.

I was also under the impression the building was at or, at least near, completion - and they'd essentially turned down a valuable longterm opportunity to boost their international profile in exchange for short term convenience. My mistake - yes, filming there would obviously present a host of challenges.

It's a pity they put all those cranes up just for Bond to turn them down (or was it the other way around - the cranes turned Bond down?). Hopefully the contractors can at least use the cranes to do something about how unfinished the building looks. Unless they're needed in the highlands of course.

New Technocrane Makes its Debut on Bond Film
Technocrane’s new Supertechno 100 crane made its debut recently on the back lot of London-based Pinewood Studios for the new James Bond movie Skyfall.
The Supertechno 100 enabled the camera to shoot over an area the size of a football field for a wide overhead night scene, with Bond, (Daniel Craig) gliding by in a boat.
The crane was provided by Panavision Europe and supported by technicians from Technocrane.
The Supertechno 100, which has 100-foot reach, was chosen by the production because it was the only camera crane that was capable of achieving the height and reach needed to achieve the required shots.

Finally some exciting news, (The cranes were starting to lose their lustre, believe it or not)

They seem to have a fabulous collection of ‘Lucky Cats’ in their...umm... cat-alogue.
I do hope we get to see one of these beauties as part of the action!!!

It does suggest that there is an exterior set on the Pinewood Paddock tank. Also the chap from the French James Bond Club said a few weeks ago the he was visiting the set soon to see that Casino scene being filmed, so that would all fit.

The South Bank has been a regular location base during filming, so they may well be doing the actual filming elsewhere in London.

Probably just a non-speaking extra role. All that happened on the bridge was M and Tanner driving back and forth.

Would that be for the remote areas of Turkey?

That would be my guess. It's the most remote area they'll be filming in. Not too shabby if they can get their usual television channels in their trailers in southeastern Turkey!

I'd also missed the previous highlighted line: "The Supertechno 100 enabled the camera to shoot over an area the size of a football field for a wide overhead night scene, with Bond gliding by in a boat." The size of the watertank at Pinewood must be astonishing!
