Not reading all our threads on here, but I still don't know the full story and order of things in 'Skyfall' - the rumours are few, but there are only a couple on each topic and it's hard to decide which actually would be the most likely outcome so I'm glad that I still am quite in the dark. Will make the Teaser trailer and poster all the better I think!

With Casino Royale I was lucky enough to have read the script, and even with QoS I knew a lot of spoilers at this point. In a way it's exciting that I know very little about this film, will definitely be a first.

I agree, I was in the same boat with the script, it was quite an experience, especially knowing what was left out, but going into Skyfall practically blind will be exciting.

I have never been privileged to see a script in advance, and I preferer it that way. I want SKYFALL to be as much a surprise on opening night as all the previous ones were. After all, barring a head injury, you only get that experience once.

....would they REALLY be 'M's final words? I mean we all know she has dropped the B-bomb over the course of time and it's something we love her saying to Bond...but I don't think that would be here final words, if any.

If SF is possibly Judi's last 007 film, I couldn't imagine her last words being leaked. The scene also sounds like it is a private moment between M and Bond, so I would think only a hand full of people even saw the scene being filmed, just my opinion.

The Empire article explicitly states that Skyfall will have no ties whatsoever with the Quantum organisation, or anything to do with QOS or CR.

There's no point anyone mentioning Quantum...I bet half the audience will forget they were actually a criminal organisation by the time they watch 'Skyfall' so rather confuse the connections between films anymore, I reckon they will just let it go. If Quantum ain't mentioned, then Quantum ain't important this time around!

At the press conference they said SF was a standalone film. I just took that as a return to the regular timeline and CR and QOS were more like prequels then a reboot. I just hear what I want to I guess, because that is debatable. If they bring up Quantum I hope its because M is involved and is one of the master minds, playing both sides hehe.

There is every reason NOT to believe him. I’ve come across his posts on Twitter many times – he spends his time trying to spread false rumours, being quite offensive and generally writing rubbish. He mixes this with a few things he’s picked up from forums such as this one, just to try to add a veneer of actually being interested in Bond and Skyfall, but he is an unpleasant, attention-seeking nutcase, plain and simple.

It's a standalone film in the sense that it really has no ties to the previous two. It has nothing to do with the other films either. In fact the notion of the other films being the "old timeline" is also a bit of a fallacy, as they never followed a timeline in the first place.

'You've got to give Bond an arc...'

The new issue of Empire hits the stands today, and behind that rather snazzy Daniel Craig cover lies an in-depth look at Skyfall, the new James Bond film that is shaping up to be one of the biggest movies of the year. Our Dan Jolin visited the film's set and spoke to those involved, and here's what director Sam Mendes had to say.
And it sounds like he's having fun. "There's an enormous amount of pleasure in making a movie where I don't feel like I'm having to walk a knife-edge between genres or work in shades of grey. Thrills and action are what's necessary here, and that's what I intend to supply, as well as a kind of emotional engagement that maybe you haven't seen before in Bond. You've got to give him an arc, not just a mission."
But specifics! We want specifics! Here's a taste of the film's early stages. "Bond's mission has taken him to Shanghai first, and in Shanghai he gets a lead that the person he's looking for is in Macau. He has only one very slender lead and it takes him to a casino on a lake."
Special effects supervisor Chris Corbould also promises us "a big shoot-out sequence in a country home, with incendiaries coming through the windows and a big helicopter 50-cal [gun] strafing through the walls...real in-yer-face stuff."
Mendes also adds that Skyfall will see 007 "physically pushing himself" and says that he takes the character "to another level where Daniel isn't just playing things he'sdone before, where we felt we were pushing - I have to say this in a way that's not giving too much away - the personal history of the character."

So does that happen after the pre-titles, with Bond being presumed dead and then taken to Silva's hideout on the Japanese island, only to be brought back to Britain and used in a way that makes him look guilty for the terrorist attack?

From what I can gather, Bond meets Silva on the island about halfway into the film.

- Silva is from Azores Islands, according to some member of the staff;

- they asked Dench: "Who is Mallory? An MI6 chief?" "Yes, he is a big chief, but I´m the superchief" "So, he is under M" "Of course, who is not? Maybe Javier. Maybe"

More fuel to the fire!

I hope Bond isn't set up, or assumed to be in league with these attacks or something...I don't want Bond having to race against the bad guys AND his superiors to clear his name. This is James Bond for gods sake, we know he's human but he's a good guy, working to get the bad guys. I hope we don't have any more crossed wires as to who's on what's team.
