What if the plot centred around an ablation cascade? It involves saetllites, but there are no space-based superweapons and science fiction elements. It actually happened a while ago; two satellites over a remote part of Russia collided, obliterating one another. NASA was worried about the possibilty of an ablation cascade - when the two satellites collided, the debris from the impact stated to scatter, and there was a very real possibility that that debris could hit other satellites, destroying them and creating a greater debris cloud. If the plot revolved around the villains taking control of a decommissioned satellite and putting it on a path to take out other satellites - including those of the spy variety so that they could do something on the ground unseen - then I don't think people would mind.I think I have started to like Skyfall. Now I'm just hoping there aren't any satellites!
Will Bond 23 Be Titled SKYFALL?

I hope it's not something so literal, but I would prefer even that to the usual, lazy method of having the title be the name of some organization.
I think the fact that it was a Fleming title was the reason EON chose Quantum of Solace. Quantum being the name of the origination was just an after thought and was purely because of the films title, not the other way round. I mean, if the organisation was called Quantum since the start, EON wouldn't come up with the title a week or so before the press conference. Since 'Quantum' isn't mentioned once in the movie, only at the end with Greene pretty much confirms that it was an afterthought.

I was rooting for Shatterhand too--mysterious and powerful-sounding, like Thunderball. But the choice of Skyfall probably means that Shatterhand will never be used, or at least not for many years--I doubt they'd use two one-word titles starting with "S" too close together. Too bad.ALBERT R. BROCCOLI'S EON PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS
DANIEL CRAIG AS IAN FLEMING'S JAMES BOND 007 IN
SHATTERHAND
..which is what I prefer and a bit more hard hitting than Skyfall.
Shatterhand.com is registered to somebody though I don't know who and it just comes up with a black screen.
I wasn't bowled over by Skyfall at first, but as long as it has an interesting meaning in the film, I can get behind it.

I've seen a document distributed among industry professionals giving contact info, etc., on upcoming movies.
...
It also shows locations as "Pinewood Studios - Istanbul" and cast as "Daniel Craig - Judi Dench - Naomie Harris - Javier Bardem - Ralph Fiennes - Berenice Marlohe".
What follows is pure speculation on my part...
I'm guessing the order of the names in the cast list is significant. To me, this indicates that Naomie Harris is the main Bond "girl" and Berenice Marlohe has a smaller part.
The prevailing rumor has been that Harris will play Moneypenny. This may simply be untrue, or perhaps Moneypenny is the main Bond girl this time (perhaps before becoming M's personal assistant).
Or maybe I'm crazy

Keep an eye on that black screen in case a white circle starts moving across it.

Hmmm....I would think that if "SKYFALL" was the official title, the document would instead read "SKYFALL" (aka "BOND 23"), and not the other way around. It still seems to me like it could be a code name for the actual film, but I could be entirely wrong.I've seen a document distributed among industry professionals giving contact info, etc., on upcoming movies. I won't give out Eon's phone number, but I will say the listing for Bond 23 says...
“BOND 23” (aka “SKYFALL”)

You mean, like a Blue Harvest, or do I misunderstand? It still seems to me like it could be a code name for the actual film, but I could be entirely wrong.
If it's a fake title meant to draw away attention, it's a damn good one, but it's only drumming it up -- and why would they then put Bond 23 right next to it, if it were a Blue Harvest-type ploy?
If I haven't gotten what you mean, please correct me.

I bet anyone 10,000 bucks that if the the Title is not Skyfall the board members here will blame this on Captain Tightpants.......
What an eccentric wager.

I'd say CR was a well executed but fairly traditional Bond film. QOS was much further out of the comfort zone (and in some aspects poorly executed - but also refreshingly original). I suspect someone like Mendes is unlikely to be traditional, no matter the usual lines they will feed us (how many of the recent films have been going back to the FRWL roots, supposedly). Was CR traditional? I care whether it's good, not whether it clings to a formula that's already been ettisoned.

Funny. I think of CR as more unorthodox than QOS, but maybe my memories of QOS have faded. I haven't seen it in years.
Me too. QoS even has the villain's big base exploding at the end!

I'm thinking more of the style than plot/characters (both being sans Moneypenny and Q). QOS had a lot of stylistic touches like the footchase and opera sequence that really stand out. Whereas CR was pretty traditional in terms of style.
I'm all for shaking it up, when it is done right. The earlier start of filming bodes well for that I think - should give more time for editing to perfection.

Black and white flashbacks? Blurry Bond POV in hospital?
I'd say you'd find non-trad bits in most Bond films. Even DAD with its speed ramping and 'London Calling'.

How about "OceanRise" or "MountainShift" or some other stupid, non-poetic, meaningless B-movie straight-to-video prattle ?!!?
They'd best have barf bags in the theater as on airline flights so the audience may have a place to register their reaction to that awful title !

The people who hate this title remind me a lot of the Craig-not-Bond people: the nastiness, the lack of proportion, the tendency to attack the intelligence of fans who fail to grasp "the obvious"... This is a series which has included such a title as "Octopussy", and we're supposed to be outraged and nauseated and indignant about "Skyfall"? Come on.

WHO in their right mind could POSSIBLY like the awful title of "SkyFall" other than Chicken Little fans ? It is horrible !

If you dislike the title, hey that's great. Your opinion. But is there really any reason to attack those that do like it?
