Those are my concerns as wellSince Ifans was reported to be cast but really wasn´t, I´m beginning to think that this "Fiennes and Bardem are cast" is also not quite true. Maybe they both were considered for the villain - and in the end it´s only one of them. Or none.

Many thanks for the video Germanlady. Much obligedToday Show this morning "We got a great cast and a great script"

PS: Craig looks sleepy

Harris, Bardem, Fiennes will likely, hopefully, be in the presser. In September.

Oh I think Bardem and Fiennes are in, Ifans probably got tossed onto the rumor pile via association with Craig ("Enduring Love") plus being the baddie in the new Spider Man. Happens.

Yes, my feeling is that Harris, Bardem, Fiennes are all cast. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Simon Russell Beale is too.

Well, Imdb (I know, I know...) took Ifans out of their list instantly, even though Beale is still listed.

As interesting and revealing an interview, as we will get these days
Many thanks for posting this. Very interesting. A classic Bond with a capital 'B'! Craig is more excited about this one than he was about Casino. Mendes has read all the books and jumped right in there. (Bet Campbell didn't read all the books!) I also get the feeling there won't be a new Q. Craig makes it clear that they are struggling to find a fit for a Q in the modern world. He makes a very good point about our world being filled with gadgets now.

Sounds good - whatever classic Bond means (I was thinking Goldfinger, FRWL - I get the feeling JF was thinking more TSWLM). Of course Craig wouldn't go around saying "I kinda don't like the script, it isn't as good as Casino..." the proof as always will be in the pudding.

I don't know about that. The kind of gadgets Bond relied upon in both the films and books, aren't the kind of gizmos you'd find in John Lewis. In FRWL alone, you've got the attache case, Klebb's shoe, Grant's garrote watch etc... In other words, concealed weaponry.

I actually think that would be the way to goIn other words, concealed weaponry.

As long as it´s not laser beams from spaceAre we talking hallowed out volcanos?

"Classic" following "He read all the books" makes me wonder... But hey, why not get our hopes high. I´ve done that for the last four films, got one right. So 1/4... Oh, who cares, I´m gonna get my hopes high again

One thing, I bet Mendes hasn´t got this kind of pressure since 1999

"I could be the best Bond director of them all, I could get known as the guy who directed the best Bond film of them all, Sir Sam Mendes sounds good..."
His theatre work is far more lightly to get him a knighthood than directing a good Bond film. If indeed he wanted one.

That´s true. And he´ll probably get one eventually. He´s the first Bond director I´m really excited for. I can´t wait to see the interviews, the documentary pieces, the crew comments. This time it will infinitely more interesting

True, but I get the sense Mendes is excited for it. He evidently sees the potential in BOND 23, and wants to follow through on it.His theatre work is far more lightly to get him a knighthood than directing a good Bond film. If indeed he wanted one.

Knee-jerk over, still jazzed about what Mendes will bring.

Bond with a B makes me think TSWLM. Um, yeah. We already had Campbell's take on 60s Bond (not bad but inherently flawed), now Mendes doing 70s Bond maybe? Sigh. Bring back Forster.

Interestingly, Mendes was around 12-14 when TSLWM/MR came out, so he was at just the right age as a youth for those films to have a big impact on him...

I put QOS much closer to OHMSS, for obvious reasons.I'd say Forster brought the 70's Gilbert Bond flair to QoS, with several shots framed similarly to SPY in particular (Bond's arrival at Talamone, the tossing of the special branch agent off the roof, etc). I'm thinking we'll be getting a high stakes, world domination scenario, hopefully with CR-esque humor (would love to see Bond smiling again) and a couple stand out action scenes woven between investigation and travelogue-style high living. I'm honestly thinking (or is it hoping?) that we'll get something close in tone to Thunderball.

A TB-styled 23 sounds about right.

Agree, the TB stuff in CR worked well. Too bad Haggis/Campbell didn't sell that 100%.

That would make my dayMy favourite part in CR resembles TB, the Ocean´s Club, even Craig has the brown and black attire Connery had in Shrublands. Oh I miss the glamour and the restrained flair, and the grin on Craig´s face like the one he had when he uttered: "No, let him have the chance to get his money back" or something of the sorts. Bond23 with a TB scope and style would definately make my day
it´s my favourite Bond film after FRWL.
