A TB-styled 23 sounds about right.

That would make my day  My favourite part in CR resembles TB, the Ocean´s Club, even Craig has the brown and black attire Connery had in Shrublands. Oh I miss the glamour and the restrained flair, and the grin on Craig´s face like the one he had when he uttered: "No, let him have the chance to get his money back" or something of the sorts. Bond23 with a TB scope and style would definately make my day  it´s my favourite Bond film after FRWL.

Very good point, here.
What you mean by that, if I get it right, is a "lighter" Bond tone, as some have called for (including myself). Not "Moore light", obviously, but lighter than QoS which was dead serious (and which I trully loved, by the way).
Craig is excellent in those kinds of grin, the one you mention being already classical.
Maybe now that the story of how Bond became Bond has been told, and has been told well, we can move on and get a TB like Bond 23 indeed. I would really welcome it.

Definatly not "Moore ligth" (although strangely I find myself watching more and more Moore Bond films as the years go by), but yeah, one of the things I loved about CR was the killer paradox, and by that I mean that it may be hard for the man to kill, but he sure does try to compensate for the grotesque aspect of the job by having fun and living it up. Taking pleasure where he finds it as a man of defined personality and taste. So, more grins please. Like the one when he asks the Mount Gay rum with soda and says: Guten abend mein herr (german is not my strong suit so forgive me...) Or when he asks for the beluga for solange,... and why not do his job with flair and style like that Land Rover business? (Man, CR was great wasn´t it?)

I think if Fiennes is going to be in the movie, there should be at least one "Got you nose" joke.

Fiennes is out and about promoting The Tempest at the moment. I should think someone's bound to ask him about Bond at some point.

I would say Bardem is still a question mark too.

If Bardem is in, then I see it as an endorsement of the script. I remember him saying that he would only do it if the script and the role were interesting - and this si after he played Anton Chigurh, one of the most interesting villains in cinema in recent years.

Evidently the release is from "Sony Pictures Releasing." Curious that a German website would pick up on this before anyone else. Guess we still have to wait and see.

Agreed. If Sony did do a press release, you know it would be a headline on IMDB and other sites.

The whole "press release" reads like a fake. Also, it mainly promotes the DVD release of Bardem s recent film "Beautiful" - so I guess someone just wanted to beef that up with an old rumor.

Whoa, looks like Bardem and Fiennes are actually serious possibilities. Craig confirms both are negotiating.

Damn it, they "can't show this video in your region". I hate it when they do that. Why should content only be exclusive to certain countries?

Would if I could, but I don't know how. It's a really brief segment at the end of the very brief interview when Craig mentions that they've got a great cast, which prompts the interviewer to ask "Javier and Ralph?" to which Craig replies, "I hope so, I hope so."

No. He was never confirmed. He was believed to be close to signing, but then decided to do THE DARK TOWER. BOND 23 was still possible then, but there was no further word. THE DARK TOWER collapsed, and we haven't heard a word since.

But Bardem was never confirmed, officially or unofficially.

I'm fascinated by this description of the role offered to Fiennes:

Just a month later, Ralph Fiennes was also linked with Bond 23 for 'a darkly complex role' because 'the part is one of extreme complexity and only an actor of great ability and dexterity can take it on’.

I wonder what on earth it could mean. I don't think it could be interpreted as Blofeld, because Blofeld was never particularly dark or complex. And the fact that EON is still in negotiations with Fiennes at this point means that the role has to have piqued his attention, since he can pretty much do whatever he wants (especially since Voldemort was a very layered character to begin with), so the role would have to stand out. So I don't think this is (entirely) hyping the part up.

I also seem to recall similar adjectives to the role offered to Bardem, though. But like Fiennes, if he's still in negotiations, the part must hold his interest.

Don´t interpret too much into that. Every role would be described as demanding and complex - otherwise no decent actor would even consider it.

So this is hype, but Craig's enthusiasm for the film is genuine?

I hope so. I could imagine it. All I wanted to say was: let´s wait and see. I´m sure you would find lots of quotes from actors who really loved scripts - and then the films did not turn out as they said they would. Or as they thought they would. Whether they just hyped the script/colleagues/whatever or genuinely felt that way.

I do believe that Craig is thrilled to do BOND 23 with Mendes and I also believe that Logan/Purvis & Wade wrote a very good script, guided by Mendes and EON. I also believe that BOND 23 will be a very good film that will satisfy even more people than QOS. It never will be able to achieve what CR did - simply because the novelty factor is not there anymore. But having Bond back, after all those years, having Craig back, and having a film that will be more classically Bondian will be greeted with lots of acclaim.

He said the same thing in the lead-in to QUANTUM OF SOLACE. However, some of his recent comments about Mendes' enthusiasm directly imply that he was unhappy with the way that film turned out.

Guess both is true, but since he could't know at that time, that QOS would be less then satisfying, I believe, he was thrilled to have a director of Forsters calibre (who said, that DC was an important part in interesting him in the project, since they both wanted to go for the 60th look etc) on board.
By now, I tend to believe, that making a successful film needs lot more then just having an incredible amount of talent - it needs luck as well. Luck with capital L...

Captain, of course, they may be true. But this isn´t about truth. It´s about perception. And never, ever forget that anything someone says in an interview is to build up expectation.

Personally, I think that Craig was heavily involved in how QOS turned out. The script was barely finished when the writers´ strike began. So EON and Forster mapped out any changes, and I´m sure Craig was giving input as well.

Now, even if the "backlash" against QOS has been blown out of proportion, EON and Craig know that the editing style and the dry humor was criticized. So, of course, they will do anything to say: well, BOND 23 will be better.

Well I think he was unhappy with the amount of time they had to put together a solid story, and ultimately with the way that they had to use action sequences to make up for the lack of depth. I think he wanted a little more out of his last outing, but at no point did he ever say he was disappointed with Marc, just the way the film came out largely due to the writer's strike. I get the impression that his enthusiasm for this one is not just media hype. We know he loves Sam, and the script has had plenty of time to develop into something that suits him as an actor. Plus when you look at the rest of the talent involved it's hard for anyone not to be thrilled with the potential for the project. First trailer will really be the first sign of where things are going. Can't wait for that.
