Another Villian perhaps? Perhaps a Mathis type of character?
We'll know soon enough

Writes for the Daily/Sunday Telegraph gossip/showbiz section, and he hasn't always got it right regarding Bond. Hence the confused symbol on my last post. It sounds, to me at least, like someone out there thinks the Jeffery Deaver novel is bound to be the next Bond movie. As if.Who's Mandrake ?

I expect he's been waiting to read the script before deciding whether to do the film.I dont know if this has been uncovered, but its new to me
Javier Bardem at the Oscars in March saying that he is in negoiations for a part
Tim Walker.Who's Mandrake ?
Yes.Ifans as Q? am i the only one who sees this as an awesome idea.

Dunno how reliable Total Film is - they confirm them all..

YES! Fiennes is apparently still onboard. I really hope this cast is the real deal, still can´t quite believe it, but with the Harry Potter stellar cast wrapping up, I guess all the new generation Lawrence Oliviers must find a new household institution, might as well be Bond right?

Total Film are not saying anything themselves there. They are just reporting that there have been reports… If you see what I mean.

Wait wait... I'm lost. I surely missed something, but who has been confirmed between Harris, Bardem, Fiennes or Ifans and who hasn't ? For the time being, I didn't read any confirmation of EON, MGM or Barbara Broccoli. Are there at least ?
As far as I am concerned, until there has been an official press release nothing is confirmed.

Sure, but I suppose one can discuss such things in a forum right

I see people so worried with what is the truth and what´s not. Really, who gives a damn? We´re supposed to run with it till it dies. Isn´t it the fun of it? The reason we´re in forums? Or is it just to post reviews and "opinions of dogma"? Fine, let´s have then just some threads about what we liked or disliked about something that´s allready done, and even then, just look at what the QOS forum has become. No prognostic threads from now on then. I suppose I´m getting a bit carried away but hey, people around here are bitting their heads of on what is the "truth"...even opinions about, say QOS, are being eyed as personal truths that must be desconstructed until that person mind is very well changed. No need for that right? So, I say let´s speculate, mediate, and eventually, the truth will come up, it always does.
About that cast. Damn, I hope it´s true, but until we know it´s true or false, I would love to discuss it with nice folks like all of you are

Fiennes strikes me as perfect casting for the corrupt british politician they were hinting at in QoS. The idea that the enemy was on the inside was original for Bond and made M's trust in, hence dependence upon Bond central to the story. Their growing relationship was one of the most successful elements carried through both movies in the reboot.\\
If this is the case then i'd say Fiennes politician is on the payroll of Bardem's Quantum....
But, having said that, i wouldn't be surprised if Mendes pulls some surprise casting on us and has his collaborator Spacey as Quantum CEO, with Bardem his right hand. I know Spacey's booked on Richard III (directed to great reviews by Mendes) but i'm sure he'd find time for this probably cameo sized role for Mendes. Then it's a short leap to imagine Mendes directing Spacey as the villain with proper screen time in Bond 24.

With Ron Howard's Dark Tower movie hitting the skids it was inevitable that Bardem would be free to do this. I'd imagine that movie's recent demise is the reason we're hearing this now.

See...that´s what I meant, solid discussion topics

And you´re spot on, Fiennes really strikes me as the polititian with the cheshire cat grin - the "complex" character he said he could play. Mendes so far is turning out to be a great card for the producers to play, let´s hope he stays that way

I´m with you all the way on that. The thing is, as you know, over the years, some - and those are very few - reporters have been quite consistent and accurate in their statments. Some entities, publications and other forms of media as well.

There's been a few too many times when I've put a lot of stock in a rumor, only to be stung when it turns out to be false. And ended up with egg on my face.

Sure, but I suppose one can discuss such things in a forum rightAnd yeah, Total Film are just reporting, it´s their job and they defend themselves well by quoting and redirecting. But surely we´re not afraid to discuss something as if it´s the truth and then be drenched in cold water by the bucket of dismissal and denial, right?

And on topic, in case anyone is still worried about Bardem's busy schedule, it just got less busy: Dark Tower collapses.

Strangely enough, they all seem to be denying it all. Even Ifans said he wasn´t involved, that he only had a, and I quote, "license to kill". Bardem denied having any projects short term. And Fiennes hasn´t said a word. It all seems a bit misterious don´t you think? Could be they´re just keeping tight-lipped about it all - contractual obligations and all that.I just recently read that Javier Bardem was officially confirmed to play the villain. Don't know if Ralph is still going to be in it or not though.

That doesn't really tell us a lot, other than that there is a cast. EON are notoriously tight-lipped, so it could be anybody.
No, of course, it doesn't, but its better then nothing.
