I would actually go and see if this if the theater where I am at right now was doing a Die Hard marathon, I haven't seen the second or the third one yet and i kind of want to.

Second one's not bad, but it isn't great. The third one is fantastic though. Easily my favorite one in the series.

It also turns out, that 'A Good Day To Die Hard' is the shortest entry in the series, official running time at 1 hour and 37 minutes.

I already did a marathon of the first four films about a week ago and today I just bought, via Amazon, Michael Kamen's complete soundtrack score from "Die Hard" (the limited release of only 3500 on Varese Sarabande) Paid about $30 for it, a bit pricy, but considering it's a limited edition CD, it's WELL worth it in my book!!

I'm going to have to get Kamen's complete score soundtrack as well. Loved his score for the first three. Shame he's passed away, would've been nice to hear his score for 'Live Free..' and 'A Good Day..'and other music scores for film.

97 minutes? You don't see that short running time much in big action films now, they always try push the 120 mark.

Still, should be basic popcorn entertainment - can't say I'm holdling out for a masterpiece.

And 'Die Hard With A Vengeance' is also my favourite film of the series - great cast, great story, great action and a great villain.

First one and third one..........very hard for me to choose between.

Jeremy Irons actually pulled off a really good villain, looked pretty tough as well, which is surprising, compared

to the normal roles you might associate him with.

"The mayor doesn't wanna p*ss off" - Great line! :D

"Bob Thompson!! City Engineer's office..." Love that line and the somewhat cheesy attempt at a American accent by Mr. Irons.. :P

So reviews are embargoed until release, I think I heard a reviewer say today. Does that mean it's a stinker?

I just finished up my Die Hard series rewatch in preperation of the new one. First one is obviously the best, though I find the second to be my favorite. I fully admit it's a weak film, but I just love the setting and the fact that the movie knows it's a sequel is endearing to me (though I realize this is why Willis dislikes it. "With a Vengeance" is a sold film all around, but I found it to be a bit light on the action, especially in the first half. "Live Free..." is the opposite, with an exciting first half and then it kind of alls apart in the second, a real shame since the opening apartment shoot-out showed a lot of promise.

I don't have high hopes for this film, but from the previews, it does appear Bruce is putting in a bit more of an effort this time around. And the action scenes do look fun.

12A. What's the point. That's not Die Hard.

I hear it's still R in America - so the UK are going to suffer and get a generic action shooter with probably little or none of that old magic making it a true 'Die Hard' film. And if they cut out the "Yippie-Ki-Yay.." line like they did over here in cinemas in 'Die Hard 4.0', then it's a joke.

'Live Free" was still enjoyable as PG-13.

Same thing again, apparently:

"The film contains four uses of strong language ('f**k') and a partial use of ‘motherf***er’, the end of which has been cut short so the implied strong language is not heard in full".

Pathetic. I wasn't expecting the film to be fantastic anyway, but seeing confirmation of this just makes my blood boil. I want a good old fashioned Die Hard movie. John McLane is not an action hero, he's an ordinary man who gets himself into difficult and challenging situations. I don't understand why Hollywood can't see this.

Because it's Hollywood, that's why. It's personally not a big deal for me. The movie looks okay. It's not like I'm expecting a five star film.

That's bullshit that the U.K. has to have a boiled down version...hopefully an unrated version would be made available on the DVD release..

The limited edition, Die Hard CD soundtrack that I ordered, arrived today in the mail.. It's 2 discs and contains pretty much every piece of music score from the film plus Vaughn Monroe's "Let It Snow", Run-DMC's "Christmas in Hollis" and some alternative takes. It doesn't have Stevie Wonder's "Skeletons" but I'm just going to buy that track from iTunes and create the ultimate soundtrack mix..Michael Kamen at his best! :)

Well I best be starting my Die Hard Marathon very soon. I'm thinking of doing all the films over a 24-48 hour period or like this.

Tuesday(today) - Die Hard

Wednesday - Die Hard 2: Die Harder

Thursday - Die Hard With A Vengeance

Friday - Live Free Or Die Hard

and then...

Friday Night or Saturday Morning - A Good Day To Die Hard.

Also Fox unveiled a pretty cool Die Hard Mural that's on their studio lot, check it out!

That's possible THE creepiest Bruce Willis image out there, and to have so big on a studio wall!! Wow! Good idea though.

And I agree DC - 'Die Hard' movies aren't just usual action films, they're special and have a certain element to them that has to work. I can't put my finger on it, but McClane's not a Stallone/Schwarzenegger character, but he's ending up that way. And I know little things shouldn't ruin a film, it probably wont, but the things we expect that are taken away limit the overall satisfaction, especially his killer catchphrase that goes with 'Die Hard' like the shaken, not stirred and Bond!

Guess we'll wait and see how it performs, I am sure it will do well.

I'm seeing it Friday night! Fairly soon I suppose.

Definitely see the second and the third. The second reuses much of the first film but with a less inspired plot and villain, but in that regard it's still a lot of fun and worth watching. The third is where they changed the formula but in a good way. Great villain, great plot, and the pair of Willis and Jackson is a lot of fun.

i like all the films , but they need a good villain like Rickman, and some humor. i'm just not feeling it with this movie from what i've seen in the trailer.

Just stopped reading a not so favorable review, just seems like this critic isn't even giving the film a chance. [1]

I don't know why people are complaining so much about the sequels not living up to expectations.

Here is a question for you; When did Die Hard 'jump the shark' or 'nuke the fridge' as they put it? I would say it was in Live Free when he jumps onto a jet fighter. Load knows the film could 'suck' but I would still love to see it. How can you keep making a film about an 'everyday guy' who happens to be put in extreme situations without having them evolve into something else, specially if he keeps coming out on top; he's no longer the same guy he was at the start of the first film.

[my 2 cents, anyway]

I agree. I really enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard and felt the only time it went too far was with the fighter jet scene. Olyphant didn't exactly play the most memorable villain but it was still a solid action film, even in PG-13 form. The Unrated version is better, but it was still good action to begin with. The Unrated just gives us a little more "vintage" McClane. As long as the films stay more grounded then I'm fine with them not sticking to the "wrong place at the wrong time" formula.
