Die Hard hasn't really been the same since 1990. I'll wait for the DVD for this one.

Starting to show some slight interest in it. Yes it looks below par, but Being a fan of the previous four, I MAY go see it.
We shall see.

Definitely understand your point Ace, I'm just not interested in it.

The good news about A Good Day To Die Hard is that the studio did learn from their mistake of making Live Free or Die Hard a PG-13 (although they did release an Unrated version on DVD and that's the only one I'll watch) and the new film is officially rated R.. I'm actually really looking forward to this! Started a "Die Hard" marathon two nights ago to pump myself up...I'm on "Die Hard: With a Vengeance" for tonight!

I need to do another Die Hard marathon. Great news about the rating! Do you know what it's Rated R for?

Oh probably it's got the typical Die Hard blood, violence and profanity that we've all come to love and expect from Mr. McClane..and no stupid censoring of the " Yippie-kai Yay Mother-f%^cker" line this time!
Posted 25 January 2013 - 08:47 PM
Now that it's given the appropriate rating, I'm now actually very hyped for this film. Hope it's violent and bloody as hell like the first 3 in the series!

Die Hard is still the best. I may see this one- still undecided...

Of course the first one is the best. that's why I am probably not going to see this one in theaters.

The R rating has me very excited - that's the way it should be! Naturally I first saw Live Free or Die Hard in its PG-13 form but after I got the Unrated version I'd never watch the PG-13 version again. Definitely feels more like McClane, especially with his iconic line uncensored. Glad they aren't going that route with this one.
Like others have mentioned, aside from the fighter jet scene, I really enjoyed Live Free or Die Hard. These are the types of films that work best grounded without those elaborate action scenes or making McClane into too much of a super hero. This one looks a little more grounded.
I've enjoyed the entire series though. First one is the best, but they've all been fun. The second is more or less a rehash of the first but with a less inspired plot yet manages to still be lots of fun. It might actually be my personal favorite from purely an entertainment standpoint. Vengeance is also great and vastly underrated.

Well good news for those UK fans who live around the London area....the BFI Imax is holding a 'Die Hard: Die-athlon' on Wednesday 13th Feb!

That is certainly a lot of Die Hard.

I´m curious about this 5th entry. I did enjoy the 4th one - but I already thought: enough now.
Having McClane now team up with his son... well, not the most original sequel idea. And the trailer with all the "banter" about dad´s past is almost a self-parody. No action sequence in the trailer strikes me as very inspired. And the shot of McClane and his son jumping through the window into the deep below... too much.
I hope the rest of the film will not constantly use McClane and his son as a kind of game avatar, defying gravity and the vulnerability of the human body.
That´s what I loved about the first DIE HARD: McClane was a character who bled, suffered and hurt, never doing stunts that seemed too unbelievable. That´s why the film worked for me - I never felt that McClane was safe.
That went out the window in the following movies. And in the fourth one he already was just another superhero.
To think that they actually want to do a sixth one... Sounds as good to me as making three 3 hour-films out of a small book.

Well good news for those UK fans who live around the London area....the BFI Imax is holding a 'Die Hard: Die-athlon' on Wednesday 13th Feb!
In anticipation for the latest 'Die Hard' release, re-live all the suspense and excitement of the previous 'Die Hard' films to get you in that action-packed mood.
Starting on the afternoon of Wednesday 13th February, this special 'Die-athlon' ticket includes the 4 previous Die Hard films back-to-back at the BFI IMAX:
12.30pm = Die Hard (1988, 127 mins)
3.15pm = Die Hard 2 (1990, 97 mins)
6.00pm = Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995, 129 mins)
9.00pm = Live Free or Die Hard (2007, 123 mins)
You then book for the 11.59pm showing of 'A Good Day To Die Hard' following!But with the 4 films costing £35, and then additional for 'AGDTDH', it's an expensive viewing...
I heard about this when it popped up in my Facebook feed from the Die Hard fan page. Is the UK cut of Die Hard 2 really only 97 minutes? That'd be a lot of footage missing considering the North American cut is 120 minutes. Unless that was a typo, as the runtime for A Good Day to Die Hard has been confirmed to 97 minutes so it might have been a mix-up.

There too is a Die Hard marathon going on in my local theater, I'm thinking of doing it, but it's on a class night. Looks like I'll be having the marathon at my house on DVD.
