It's a shame the we'll never see "the stars align" for this one because of his age once Craig is put out to pasture, but being an avid fan of CBS's Persons of Interest, my vote would be for Jim Caviezel. His portrayal of 'John Reese' on the show harkens me back to what the "literary Bond" would be like on the screen.
Caviezel , if he can pull off the British accent, would be phenomenal.

Completely the wrong look.
Precisely what people said about Craig.....
Though that does raise the question: Will they go from Craig directly back to a dark haired chap with long comma hair? Or stay a bit non-traditional?

Tom Hardy asked about Bond (as well as the movies Mad Max and Locke) :
Interesting that he doesn't say he wouldn't do Bond, just that Craig is Bond for another couple of movies.
I love Craig as Bond and want him to remain so as long as he sees fit. But when the time comes i currently see Hardy as the only actor capable of keeping bar so high, in terms of their acting chops. So this 'non-denial' is for me a good portent.
ETA: Of course after another couple of movies + the year or two to get cameras rolling the next Bond actor 7, Hardy will be around 42. That's not a good portent for recasting Bond, but Hardy, even more so than Craig has proven he's physically versatile - able to change his physicality to suit the role (like De Niro and Bale) so maybe if that ability extends into his 40s it could still easily work. And after all i doubt they'd want a young actor after Craig as that would feel too much like another reboot - they'd probably want a sense of continuation and continuity for Bond 7 and go young for Bond 8.

In my opinion he looks a bit too much like Andrew Robinson. We don't want 007 to remind us of Scorpio do we?

Jason Statham is my first choice (I know that the Transporter series is Bondesque, however ever since I saw him in the first one I have thought he'd make a great James Bond)??

I'd rather have Tom Hardy as Blofeld if this character makes a return-he strikes me as a bada*ss kind of Blofeld like Telly Savalas in OHMSS.

Bender...Fassbender. He'd be great!
Look at him, that's Bond right there...

I saw Matthew Rhys on PBS last night - it was called "Scapegoat"- I think (backtracking on my own comments earlier in the thread) that he could totally pull off the Ian Fleming version of Bond ( that sketch). Between that and The Americans, I think he's got the espionage chops. I dunno how he'd be in the action department though. Certainly not as physical as Craig. Rhys might be a more cerebral type of JB. Certainly closer to Dalton in that aspect.

Oooh, Jim Caviezel, also looks like he could pull it off.

So, it looks like my favourite contender for Bond 7, Rupert Friend is going on to do this. Why couldn't he just wait and do the real thing. He would have been the perfect Fleming's Bond. http://latino-review...eboot-agent-47/ . Seriously disappointed.

Not that i can see him as Bond but I don't think this would stop him, especially if it's remembered as much as the last one.

The idea of Hugh Dancy (from "Hannibal") as a future Bond is beginning to interest me.

I don't think that this will keep Friend from being a candidate for the role after Craig leaves. More than likely, Agent 47 will do very poorly at the box office, just like its predecessor did, and nobody will remember that he starred in it.

I also vote for Fassbender. He was amazing in the last X-men movie and his scene's in the first part of the movie had a Thunderball kind of feeling.

After the loud annoying mess that was Man of Steel, I would hope that Zack Snyder makes no more Superman movies, effectively clearing the path for Cavill to be #7.
A truly appalling film.
For my money, MAN OF STEEL is the greatest suphero ever made, only rivalled by BATMAN RETURNS and HULK.
That and your belief that Godfather 3 is the best of that trilogy convinces me forever more that you are a contrarian.
From "Family Guy"
Lois: Look, Brian, all I'm saying is it's not normal for people to change their political views so radically overnight.
Brian (the talking dog): Lois, no offense, but you don't exactly know what you're talking about. I mean, you...you're not exactly a fountain of political knowledge yourself.
Lois: You want to know what I think is happening here?
Brian: Oh, this should be rich and overtaxed.
Lois: I think you just got to be in the "out" group. Whoever's on top, whoever's in power, whoever's successful, you gotta be on the other side or you don't feel like the smartest guy in the room. All you are, my dear, is a contrarian.
Brian: Oh, please, you could not be more off base.
Lois: Oh, yeah? Let me ask, what did you think of the movie Titanic?
Brian: Horrible, one of the worst movies ever made.
Lois: Mm-hm, what about Slumdog Millionaire?
Brian: Overrated, just a terrible movie.
Lois: Cocktail.
Brian: Actually, not a bad film. You know, as classically structured cinema, Cocktail was one of the best films of its era.
Lois: You make me sick, Brian.

Hugh Dancy
Michael Fassbender
Tom Hardy is the only one I see wanting to do it.
