The Guardian article claims "Craig has announced this year’s Spectre will be his penultimate Bond movie."

He did? When?

He didn't. The Guardian is wrong.

Latest Craig status update was Barbara Broccoli saying they have an open-ended arrangement.

Thank God.

It's still most likely true that SPECTRE is his penultimate film, though.

Tonight's London Evening Standard Newspaper claimed that Craig has announced that SPECTRE is his final Bond movie...

I hope this is the usual hack journalism i've become accustomed to in the Standard and that this is BS.

It cited Elba, Hardy and Fassbinder as the favourites to take over. The paper had another article suggesting Jason Statham would be a good choice, thanks to that interview that's been doing the rounds. That's about as likely as Guy Ritchie directing Bond.

It's clearly a no.  Lewis will be 50 or older when he'd be making his debut.

Not sure where this sudden flurry of activity about who will replace Craig has come from, but I don't think it will be any of that list, with the possible exception of Cavill.

I'd say it's most likely the beginning of the inevitable campaign by the media to tear down the franchise and, more specifically, SPECTRE.  They built up and hyped Skyfall to the hilt, so now when SPECTRE commits the sin of not quite reaching a billion dollars, they'll have laid the groundwork for the negative campaign against the film and will be ready to pounce on the "failure" that is SPECTRE.

Craig is committed to doing Bond 25, bar SPECTRE tanking, which hopefully, it won't.

http://deadline.com/...ith-mgm-331562/

The Lewis story is triggered by an outsized wager and perhaps his participation on the non-Bond Eon movie, The Silent Storm.
He's done some nice readings of Fleming: Diamonds Are Forever and the Fleming short stories The Living Daylights, From A View To A Kill, The Property Of A Lady and For Your Eyes Only. But Bond 7? Nah.

Maybe Damian took out the wager ;)

The best name on the list - with regards to playing Bond - is Fassbinder and he'll be too old. The only realistic names on that list are Hardy and Cavill. But the former is unlikely to commit to another huge franchise and the latter is already committed to one and U.N.C.L.E could well be another.

I see Craig doing B25 as i imagine SPECTRE's story 'will be continued'.

Looks like a huge advertising 'coup' to re ignite Lewis fading celebrity.
I am pretty sure that the name of the next Bond has not yet even been whispered by anyone

This is why I logged in to CBN today.  I thought perhaps I had missed some grand announcement by Craig.  Glad to see that isn't  the case.

Craig is not my favorite Bond (I am a Daltonite) but he's done a fine job.

I am looking forward to seeing more of his work.

Thanks CBN for keeping it real.  This is still my go to place to accurate and up to date Bond info :)

If people are actually betting on Lewis to become Bond, as the article would indicate based on the fact that his odds have been slashed to 3/1, then they're idiots.  It's OK to think that he would have made a good Bond at one point (he might have), but he'll be darn near 50 (or quite possibly even over 50) year old when his first film would be set to debut.

Lewis is a good actor yes, but too old for 007 now.

Alex Price.

Doubtless he's an interesting screen presence, but it's not that of a potential Bond imho

The audience may find themselves trying to tell Bond and Q apart!

Wot, I said that already?   ;)

The more time passes the more this seems to make sense. I thought he'd counted himself out of the running by playing Superman, but on the other hand would he have gotten UNCLE without the status Supes has afforded him?

So, when it's finally time to recast Bond it may end up being Superman, which seemed such an 'anti-Bond-casting' role to take that ends up landing him the Bond role via UNCLE.

And going on the UNCLE trailer he'd walk it in many respects. I think he (so far) lacks Craig's dramatic chops so it may mirror the transition from Connery's believable Bond to Moore's make-believe Bond.

Unknown to Grawls, I suppose...

"In fact, portraying James Bond was seen as a springboard for their career."

They go on to include David Niven in their count (did wonders for his fledgling profile).

"In fact" is an already over-used inaccuracy, the way that "arguably" and "I swear" are overused now.

For some strange reason my reply to AMC Hornet didn't show, so here we goes.

All these actors who were widely unknown until Bond. For instance, until LALD I'd never heard of "The Saint" or "The Persuaders". And "Remington Steele"? Never heard of it until GE came out. And then that David Niven chap - thank Heavens for CR 1967 or we would never have discovered he had a career before then. To say nothing of Peter Sellers - who he?

You do have to wonder who writes these "next James Bond" articles, don't you?

I don't think Mr Rocky should get his hopes up too high.
