Pretty much.
This isn't the first time that someone's floated the name of a female for the role of Bond, is it? I seem to remember hearing a long, long time ago that Sharon Stone's name had been floated out there as a possible female Bond back when things were still up in the air due to the legal battles in the early 1990s. It may have been just some gossip journalist floating it out there (can't imagine it came from EON or MGM), but I seem to recall having heard that. If that was the case, I think I would have preferred an early 90s Sharon Stone for the part than Ms. Pike, who has already been in a Bond film (who would play her male lead, Pierce Brosnan?), but doesn't have a sense of danger or menace that Stone has been able to pull off in some of her roles.

Solution for the female Bond thing... a Modesty Blaise film.

British opposition leader Ed Miliband lasted two days of the general election campaign to have his say on the matter - and he's gone for... Rosamund Pike.

He needs better researchers.
Trying to woo the female vote, Ed? Problem is, women love to watch Craig and his ilk donning the tux.
Poor Ed can't get anything right - he's the Tories biggest asset.

Nothing against her and nothing to do with her gender, but she is shorter than Craig, and blonder! It would never work!
Though the scenes of Bond seducing the Bond girls would be interesting

I'd somehow never heard of this series before, but I read up on it on Wikipedia just a few minutes ago. Sounds like it would be a worthwhile effort to try to adapt it into another film. Having never read the novels or the comic, are either worth checking out? The basic synopsis of the series on Wikipedia sounds interesting enough.

The comics and books have a sort of "floating timeline" between the two, so I treat them as separate tellings of the same story. IMO, the first novel and the DC Comics graphic novel adaptation of it are your best bets for a good introduction. Worth a look for sure.

Maybe Daniel Craig could play Modesty Blaise. He did rock in a dress - he wore in that Public Service Advertisement (PSA)! LOL

Been watching Outlander with Sam Heughan. Good accomplished actor. 35 years old and 6 foot 2 1/2 inches. Maybe a possible Bond? Here is IMDB link:

Off topic, what do you make of Outlander?
I was 50/50 after ep1 and haven't watched it since. The premise was interesting, but some of the acting was unbearably wooden (though Sam was ok) and the 'misty' wartime period filter on the image gave it that awful sunday-night-bbc chocolate box look. Not what i expect from the creator of one the best and the edgiest, technically innovative tv shows of all time.
After BSG i thought Ron Moore could do no wrong, but HELIX, his take on Carpenter's classic movie The Thing was about as hackneyed, predictable and cheesy as tv gets. I see Outlander has a second series which may mean it's liked, but Helix also has a second series!!!
Is Outlander worth going back to?

Outlander started out very slowly, but my wife and I have really enjoyed the actors and the story. Give it another shot. Sam has Bond potential, but I said the opposite about Daniel Craig! My bad!

I think Danny Dyer should do it. Why can't we have a Bond who's a cockney wide boy? (I'm kidding by the way)

Why would we want to settle for just an "OK" actor? Certainly Craig's performance in the role has raised the bar of what EON should be looking for in the future.

I don't really care who it is, to be honest. EON has proven that they can go out and get a top-shelf talent like Daniel Craig to take on the role, so I have faith that they'll be able to attract a similar talent the next time around, especially now that Craig has elevated the cache of the franchise to a point where other high quality talents will be willing to work on the Bond films that might not have otherwise thought about coming on board.
I do have preferences about who it should or shouldn't be, but most likely everybody that we're discussing in this thread will be too old for the part by the time Daniel Craig hangs it up.

HANDSOME, DARK, TALL & "OK" ACTOR.
Nothing OK about the Dyer's acting. It's bloody awful! The actors on EE must love sharing scenes with him as it's the only time they look good by comparison.
Having said that, an actor & director can have a symbiotic relationship, in which the actor is the director's muse - their alter ego, a projection of themselves. When Dyer has worked with Nick Love in the past there's a real chemistry present that sizzles onscreen. In The Football Factory, Outlaw and especially the excellent Costa Del drug crime movie The Business Dyer is perfectly cast and perfectly directed by Love.
Sadly neither Dyer nor Love are any good without the other (Love's recent Sweeney movie was appalling) and i'm certainly opposed to Love going anywhere near a Bond movie. Maybe Love should do a few EE episodes, though!

He's way, way too old for the part now. He'll be over 50 before Craig's finale even hits theaters.
He's also just completely wrong for the part.

He didn't. The Guardian is wrong. The Guardian article claims "Craig has announced this year’s Spectre will be his penultimate Bond movie."
He did? When?
Latest Craig status update was Barbara Broccoli saying they have an open-ended arrangement.
