Saw a tweet from someone saying that the official announcement of the singer would come on Monday and the single be released Friday. Can't look for it now, but IIRC, it was a retweet from our own Marketto. No idea who the original source was.

Like everyone else, waiting for an official announcement from an official source.

The cover art for the single is being shown on MI6.co.uk. Let's put any skepticism that it's Adele to rest shall we? Also for the ones who aren't ecstatic that they went with Adele and wanted a rock based song to follow with the other Craig entries, think about this it's Bond's 50th! They want a big hit in the theaters and on the charts and they can get that with Adele. I personally have Madonna CDs, Chris Cornel/ Sound Garden CDs, White Stripes and Adele CDs. So I'm not biased toward Adele but she is the chart topper that those others were not when these singles were released. All of these latest artists and I can throw in Gladys Knight, Tina Turner as well were past their prime. Adele is 24 and on top right now. She will make it a BIG hit and isnt that what we want as Bond fans? Is a good song that has people interested in Bond? Also, to mark the 50th anniversary I think a touch of class like Adele will bring is much more appropriate than a band like Muse or The Killers ( I have these band's CDs as well). Her voice and I have a feeling this song, will have a timeless feel to it.

I agree that the odds of it not being Adele seem pretty small. But considering how much so-called confirmed information on the internet turns out to be totally false, I think some of us have indeed become hard-line skeptics. My stance right now is, yup, it looks pretty likely--but for me personally it's not 100% definite until someone who (1) is in a position to know and (2) is empowered to say so says so.

So then the title of the song is "Skyfall," not "Let the Sky Fall"? Does that mean the widely reported "leaked" lyrics--which come from the same report--are incorrect too?

They've done a fantastic job getting people talking. Then when they officially announce it, the twitterverse will be hot with it, the papers will be able to run wild etc and it's close enough to the film that the talk will still be hot when the film comes out, unlike when they've previously released it a few months prior and the talk had abated slightly. They've done it well this time.

How else would they find an image that wasn't yet released in a website's directory? I wasn't saying it was MI6 who hacked them, just that they shouldn't really of uploaded it until it was released.

Indeed. Probably human error that allowed the image to be uploaded early, but those open directories have proved very useful in the search for high resolution official stills over the past few months.

Adele being the singer is all very expected to me. I think she'll do a great job, and the title of the song sounds alright. Seems like a good compromise between naming it something else ala 'Another way to Die' , but also having the name of the film in there.

Well, if the "SkyfallMovie" domain registration wasn't a misdirection, then neither is this. The cat has been out of the bag for months, so I doubt if anyone is trying very hard to keep this locked down.
