No, far better to sing something that superficially sounds to be about danger but is actually a thinly valid ode to sex and orgasms.
That had me laughing on the floor, bursting But quite true Shrublands, quite true. Surrealism meets sexual innuendos is the way to go.

Well, if Duran Duran hit #1 at their peak with 'AVTAK', Adele is pretty much on top of the world now so fans and media alike will go crazy for new matieral, Bond-related or not. I wonder if that will affect the sales, being a James Bond theme, rather than a stand-alone song.
Still...until we get confirmation I ain't having any of it!

YES! So happy Adele is doing it. I was listening to her album '21' on the way to work this morning. She has a beautiful voice and such range, i can't wait to hear her do this.
Those lyrics sound ok too, this Friedman character really is a useful source! So, only just over a week till we hear it!
I'm not a big fan of Adele because, with the exception of a couple of tracks, she just doesn't have the songs, man.
However, one of those exceptions is Set Fire To The Rain. It's magnificent. Slap a horn section on to that bad boy and you've got a Bond song. In fact, not long after her 21 album came out, I played that song over the title sequence of Quantum Of Solace. Works a treat!

Set Fire To The Rain, He Won't Go, Someone Like You, Rolling in the Deep....all great songs, man.
But if you mean they don't sound Bondian, well, they're not meant to are they? That's the whole point of collaborating with Epworth and Newman to sing a song worthy of a Bond flick.

Trust Adele to sing about crumble.

Classic Little Britain reference! Shirley Bassey "The Diamonds they are Forever Sir! The Moonraker never knows! The Gold Finger! I sing all the Bond songs, dah-ling"

Now, if they're still eating cheeseburgers and moaning, have it it. But Adele's lost a substantial amount the past few years. She's actually quite the success story in that regard, IMO.
As someone who was formerly...uh...husky, losing it's a difficult ing thing to do. And smokers think they have it bad? Try not eating cheese.

Where is Zorin? Haven´t seen him around the SF threads.Just been reading over the start of this thread, and Zorin Industries gets the noble accolade of being the first user to suggest Adele as the title artist for BOND 23 as it was known then - more than three years ago!
Adele.

Hunger days. I remember. Many casualties. I remember his review of QOS was the first I read. He should come back ASAP. As should all the others.I think he got tired of taking heat for bringing an informed, sensible opinion as a counter to some of the baseless, insane ones that haunt the forums by times. Especially if those times are 2009-2011, when nothing was happening and everything was crazy conjecture.

The chap is always very interesting to read (actually, his were the first posts I read on CBn and they made me want to join), always have a very sensible view on things, and of course always comes up with to-the-point bits of info.
I'm sorry he's not around with us celebrating Bond 50...

I know of course everyone has their own opinion on music but to say that Adele doesn't have the songs? Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, Rumout has it are all phenomenal besides the aforementioned Set Fire to the Rain off of 21. Off of 19, Cold Shoulder, Right as Rain and Hometown Glory gets me every time! She has been criticized on this forum before for just singing songs about being dumped. That's not really fair to her or her ability to sing a standout Bond theme.

Here we go. I think she's got a great voice, and is potentially a fantastic recording artist ... but like I said, I find most of her songs to be pretty mediocre, samey and boring. My wife loves her so I've heard her albums many times, and I've usually had enough after five songs.
A couple are great (Set Fire To The Rain, Rolling In the Deep), a couple are okay (Chasing Pavements ... can't think of another okay track) and the rest are snoozeville. This is, of course, just my opinion. Right kids?
I did not make any kind of comment to the effect that she is not suitable for a Bond theme. In fact, I think I made it pretty clear that with the right song and arrangement, she could produce an absolute corker. I can't wait to hear the Skyfall theme.
I think the problem with these forums is that everyone leaps on a comment, takes it way too literally, or reads things into it that were never there in the first place, and then tears it apart. Take it easy, folks!

Put yourselves in EON's shoes (wish I could lol), you have Global James Bond Day coming up what are you going to announce? The day has publicity already, everyone knows a new movie is coming out within the month so what do you do to add to the media hoopla surrounding the day? You strut Adele up there to sing the new theme or at the very least announce that she's singing it and release the single. My point is what's the point in having this special day unless you have some big news to kick it off with!
Exactly.
Look, here it is. It's Adele. We know it's Adele. Roger Friedman/Showbiz 411 are probably very right. The other major sites (and they all reported it) aren't just re-reporting Friedman's piece. That's not how it works.
All the other majors who ran the story have their own independent sources. They would not run a story of that profile with that amount of certainty without verifying the truth via their own sources. Do you think something as reputable as Total Film would put it's entire reputation on the line carelessly by proclaiming it to be Adele only to have Muse announced 2 weeks later? Blogs or small publications, sure. But we're talking about major, major news outlets here.
They cite Friedman's original piece as the source of the rumour only to be able to say, "Uh, look, EON. This guy technically said it first. So get mad at him. I mean, we've totally confirmed this ourselves, so we're 'reporting' it, but we're really just pointing to this other guy's report to disguise the fact that we're also reporting it."
It's Adele. Crumble is a lyric. It's a catchy ballad that will probably get an Oscar nom (any other memorable songs this year? No?) and we'll hear it a bunch everywhere for the next month.
I'd recommend passing the next 9 days' time by going and having a re-listen to the Arnold/Garbage TWINE theme. Underrated, IMO. A bit pørn-y in spots, but rather classical around those bits.

Yes, I do. Total Film are not very respected anyway, I know for a fact that they have blatantly made stuff up all on their own in the past.
They even admitted in their copy that they had just copied the Adele story from elsewhere, and where they copied it from referred back to ShowBiz 411. Total Film couldn't even be bothered to copy from the original. Why click a mouse twice, when you can click it once?
Having said that, I have believed Roger Friedman/Showbiz 411from the start.
