Congratulations to Paul McCartney, whom so many think created a good bond theme. Luckily I won't let BBC listeners tell me what is good or not. My main objection is that the song - or whatever we should call the mess - sounds like a suitably theme for Biff Tannen, rather than James Bond or the movie LALD. Try to imagine the Lovin' Spoonful singing over a Star Wars opening and you are almost there.
'Live and Let Die' voted UK's favourite James Bond theme
Since when did LALD and TLD become good Bond themes...?
I don’t think anyone is letting BBC listeners tell them what to think – they are simply using the fact that it came first in a recent poll to show that generally speaking it is considered good and is liked by a fair proportion of people.

Really liking the Adele choice (if true) but such a shame since I just heard the Muse album and the opening track, Supremacy, would DEFINITELY fit a Craig film; twangy guitars, orchestra and all. Some of the orchestral bits during the first verse even sound similar to bits and pieces of the Bond theme, it's a great opening track.
The lyrics are as follows:
Wake to see
Your true emancipation is a fantasy.
Policies
Have risen up and overcome the brave.
Greatness dies,
And some are lost invisible to history.
And then it's spies
Brainwashing our children to be mean.
You don't have long, I am on to you.
The time, it has come to destroy
Your supremacy
You don't have long, I am on to you.
The time, it has come to destroy
Your supremacy
Bloody hell, just listened to it. If Supremacy isn´t the new Bond theme, then Muse must have auditioned for it, that´s for sure. The melodic part is wonderful. If he stopped the yelling and if they silenced thosd heavy riffs a bit, it could very well be a winner. But the song having the same title as a Bourne film doesn´t help much.

Supremacy isn't as good as say "You Know My Name" But it Undoubtly has the Bond theme sprinkled throughout, I agree They must have auditioned for it

I agree with you as well. You Know My Name has supremacy over Supremacy.

I guess we all have our own opinion's , I liked it mainly because it fall's more in line with our generation and really captures the esscence of Craig's Bond

But ‘the best song ever written’?
Even this ‘it’s of our time’ argument doesn’t wash with me - it never really hit the zeitgeist in the way GF, LALD, NDIB and AVTAK did in their day.

Thank you. There is nothing particularly wrong with YKMN, I quite like it on the whole.

He replies:
'"It's got a little whisper to the Bond vibe - it all goes a bit crazy Live and Let Die in the middle. My view is they should use it for the next James Bond film, but I don't know what's going on with that. I heard Adele was doing it!"
I bet he's lying through his teeth! I bet they DID submit it, but got turned down!

Exactly. It's not a bad song but c'mon. It's fine if that's someone's personal opinion, just no way is that any general consensus. A great song people know the lyrics to. And even fans don't know the lyrics to You Know My Name, no pun intended.

In My Personal Opinion "You know my Name" is the Best
Bond TitleSong ever written
What does nationality have to do with musical tastes? What?! And you say you are from Italy? That´s like you saying Ford is the best auto brand,
You Know My Name is the best song ever written.
Also, I don't know about the other countries, but You Know My Name exactly describes the life in Italy. You can't trust anyone, everybody will betray you, and they're all ipocrital people.

That's Quite a Bold statement to make,I am a fan and I do know the lyrics to "you know my name",

You are right by saying that it did not create such an Impact as AVTAK or others did for its time. But I guess I dont have that sense of Nostalgia For the Older Bond Films or Songs, I truly fell in love with the Bond Franchise after watching CR and QOS and I strongly feel that YKMN embodies everything great of the Craig era without resorting to the gimmicky substance that is "Techno"

Well there must be a reason - probably James Bond Day now that's next week. It has to be!
You see, I’d have thought they’d have told us a bit about it before releasing it. Not too much to ask, logical even. But at this rate, they won’t have time. Strange.

Well, not many fans.
GF, DAF, LALD, NDIB, AVTAK - you would only have to play a small bit of them and whole sections of the population would know exactly what they are, from big Bond fans to people who don’t care about Bond at all.
YKMN would draw mostly blank looks, honestly. For as popular and widely seen as CR was, the general public has forgotten that song.

The most interesting part offers a glimpse of the lyrics:
Part of the chorus of the song goes: “Let the sky fall/Let it crumble/We will stand tall/And face it all/together.”
The introductory lines, which follow a piano solo, are: “This is the end/Hold your breath and count to ten/Feel the Earth move and then/Hear my heart burst again.”

ADELE it is.
And the lyrics sound fine. I´d love a haunting ballad for 007.

And the lyrics sound fine.
Yes they do. I don’t like this rubbish with millionaire pop starts attempting to sing with sincerity about the terrible life of being a professional killer. It always sounds hollow and childish.
Or worse, lyrics that trot out Bond cliché – girls, guns and spies, whatever.
No, far better to sing something that superficially sounds to be about danger but is actually a thinly valid ode to sex and orgasms.
