The Mad Men opening title sequence always reminded me of Bond.

Keep in mind this is The Sun...
Keep in mind this is The Sun, but...

BOND bosses are being more secretive than MI6 over who will sing over the closing credits of the latest 007 flick Skyfall.
But Adele is definitely the front-runner for the gig. She visited Abbey Road studios earlier this month, where the soundtrack is being put together.
She first hinted that she’d been offered the 007 spot in a chat with Jonathan Ross last year.
Soon after that Adele started preliminary sessions with producer Paul Epworth.
Her visit to the historic Abbey Road facilities suggests she’s been recording with Thomas Newman, the man director Sam Mendes has hired to take charge of the Bond music.
Thomas, who has worked on movies including The Shawshank Redemption and Wall-E, has been holed up at the London studios all month working on the score for the film, which hits cinemas next month.
It will be interesting to see what he and Adele come up with.

The Same news source that said Al Pacino was going to be in Quantum Of Solace and Olga Kurylenko would be completely nude. No, I'm not judging you, but like you said, "Keep In Mind, this is The Sun..." Only Time will tell.

It’s by Gordon Smart, who over the making of Skyfall was first with ‘Bond will have a beard,’ ‘They are going to smash up lots of VWs in a big action sequence’, ‘Jags and Range Rovers to be used at Smithfield market’ and ‘An explosion at Vauxhall Bridge.’ Amongst other stuff.

I wouldn’t write-off his info as simply as that.

Yeah, they have info. Those Adele snippets do rather lead to an inevitable conclusion...

Come on EON - just announce will you...please not Adele still.

This has been the worst kept secret during the entire production. Her hints on the Jonathan Ross show, Daniel Craig himself joking about it, her appearances at Abbey Road....they might as well announce it now and get it over with. I can picture it already....

Blurgh - hope not!

I wonder if the song will be called 'Skyfall' or have another title different from the film as the last two Bonds have.

Probably. It's a pretty easy title to work into a song:

Skyfall
It's a fight for survival

Etc, etc.

Sounds about right. I'd throw the name Paul Epworth into the mix too, as producer or co-writer or both.

Why they simply don't just announce it now is beyond me.

Oh, and we can forget Muse, they have a different single coming out in a few weeks, that’s what they’re promoting on SNL – noting to do with Skyfall.

I suppose they wait for a Friday to have every major radio station play their song the entire weekend.

EDIT: Oh, a lot of websites already use headlines with Adele and a - barely visible - question mark.

Yes, I can understand that motivation. But time is running short now. There is just over 40 days to the premiere and the song needs to go through a number of important events before then.
1. Announcement of who will sing it.
2. First radio play
3. Release of music video
4. Release of the single for sale
5. The single hits the charts

So... maybe they did wait for Newman to compose the score AND the song and then bring in the singer.

I would really love that.

The Times of India also claims Adele to be singing the closing credits..surely this has to be a "lost-in-translation" or typo on somebody's part?? :P

Of course, these days, journalists just repeat anything they have read (without checking the facts), thus repeating mistakes and misinformation gladly.

Then again, it might be actually true that Adele only sings the song for the closing credits - and Newman has composed an instrumental for the opening titles?

I think Newman has already stated that the opening theme will have vocals, has he not? I believe someone on these forums got this info direct from Newman or somebody related to the theme's production through Twitter.

Yes, a music editor who is working on Skyfall stated yesterday on Twitter that there were vocals in the Skyfall theme. So all this 'closing credits' stuff must just be a mistake by the press.

"Another Way To Die" was announced on July 29th, 2008. Released on September 30th. Music video on October 3rd.

Perhaps EON is going to follow this formula for Skyfall. Who knows, 58 days till release and this is getting very annoying.

Agreed. I haven't really been excited or speculative about the title song singer, because I've always thought Adele had it in the bag since day one.
