For what it's worth, I prefer 'Madness' a great deal over any song on The Resistance, and is easily light years ahead of 'Survival.'

I do like Madness, it just doesn't sound as much like Bond as Uprising. While I see Adele as a nod to Shirley Bassey, I think Muse would fit as the Duran Duran or a-Ha of the Craig era and be able to pull off a memorable chart-topping track.

I would rather Muse sounded like Muse, and Adele sounding like Adele. Don't ape the past, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten AVTAK in the first place.

I meant that Adele's style and sound are similar to Bassey and that she could pull off a classic Bond song that is reminiscent of Goldfinger or DAF, not that she would imitate her. Same for Muse, the parallels there are just that they are all well known and popular bands and that Muse could create a great song like AVTAK or TLD, not that it would sound like those songs, just be successful and popular. Not like the awful offerings we got from Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Madonna and Jack White/Alicia Keys.

I actually liked Gladys Knight's 'Licence To Kill' It's my favorite behind 'You Know My Name' and 'GoldenEye' and others. Didn't care for Sheryl Crow's 'Tomorrow Never Dies' Preferred 'Surrender' by K.D. Lang. Don't get me started on Madonna. I would've like 'Another Way To Die' more if it wasn't a duet.

Will be very surprised if it isn't Adele considering her coyness with Jonathan Ross and DC mentioning her name in his interview alongside BB. Also remember that Amy Winehouse was originally contacted for QOS so Eon will consider solo female singers in the DC era. It could be argued that Adele (whilst not identical by any means) is not a vastly different artist to Amy Winehouse. I'd be very interested to know if there's a betting book on this - Adele would surely be a big favourite for the job.

Adele would be great for the marketing's sake alone. EON's employed some "very much a star" title singers in recent times past, but when was the last time there was an international superstar/chart topper doing one of the Bond songs actually kinda during their reign?

True, but given the nature of the 50th anniversary I think they'll be pushing the boat out this time. A Bond singles chart and box office number one double would be lovely.

I can't believe the theme song hasn't been announced yet, whats the hold up EON? I would think the song is already done, right?

Does anyone know how long before "Another Way To Die" was released before the film? Not that, that is any indication.

I remember hearing it back in mid September. It's the last week of August, so I think we shall have the song in the next month.

That we don't have, at least, the name of the artist yet is indeed quite strange.

"Another Way To Die" was first heard (on Spanish radio) on 13 September 2008, and was officially released on 30 September. But Jack White and Alicia Keys had already been announced way back in July 2008, and the song title had been announced at the same time. Chris Cornell and the title "You Know My Name" were similarly announced in Jully 2006. So they should have announced the Skyfall artist and song title back in July of this year. Why didn't they? On the assumption that it's Adele, some have speculated that they're waiting for her to give birth before they make any announcement. That's expected to happen in early September.

The same general publicity events leading up to a Bond film happen each time. It could just be that, due to some mitigating factor (like, a pregnancy) they've switched the order of a couple of them.

Typically, yes. The title song artist is announced in July and the theatrical trailers drop in early September. Maybe they've just flipped those two.

If it's not Adele, then I seriously can't imagine a reason the artist wouldn't otherwise have been announced yet. In the grand scheme of things, we're getting awfully close, here. The film basically drops in 2 months for you lucky Brits.

Regardless of who got the gig (It MUST be a DONE deal, in the studio by now, as quiet as it's kept...) I hope that profound homage is paid to the late John Barry, with regards to HIS contribution to the series on it's 50th anniversary.

Could it also be that IF Adele has recorded a song... it did not meet the studio´s approval? That they are frantically trying to fix this situation, maybe writing a new song and recording it with or without her (with her pregnancy making scheduling impossible?)

Oh, boy, playing devil´s advocate again... Stop it, SAF. STOP IT!

Not sure what you mean, but on that basis, I wonder if Skyfall will feature a tribute in the titles to him. Apart from the Bond actors and Cubby himself, there aren't many others with such a big impact on the Bond films.

The fact that it's taking so long makes this a definite possibility. I don't think it's the case, but who knows? Surrender was cut at the last minute, so it is possible that, assuming Adele has recorded a track, that the producers weren't happy with it and are trying to come up with a new one. Of course, the sheer fact that they've been so secretive about Skyfall also leads to the possibility that they are just dragging it out uselessly....as they are with 007 Legends.

This is a rather Blofeldian notion, but perhaps they want to synergize their announcement with the news of Adele's giving birth. That's sure to be a reasonably big entertainment story. If she gives birth and then it's immediately announced that she'll be doing the forthcoming Bond theme, a lot of people searching for news about Adele will inadvertently be informed of the new Bond film.

They're clearly brewing something special.

50th Anniversary and all, perhaps an Adele-Bassey duet with some mad instrumental thrown in? Or mixing all the previous Bond themes together in one melting pot? Nothing would surprise me anymore...

I have a feeling that the title artist and song will be released in approx 7 days, 15 hours and 15 minutes to coincide with exactly 50 days till Skyfall on the 50th anniversary. Just a thought.

Getting well bored of this speculation now - can't believe it's going on for so long!

Still hoping it's not Adele, but I can't say if it's too obvious she will do it after so much hype or if EON will pull a sucker punch and surprise us all!
