If a frenzied Bond fan were to literally explode with impatience, that might hurry them along. Any takers? ;)

Did you just suggest the first act of Bond martyrdom?

I think news is on the way soon. This was just posted on the official SKYFALL Facebook page.

Who's your money on for who will be singing the new Skyfall theme song?

I'll be amazed if it isn't either Adele or Shirley Bassey.

Ah, I'd been expecting an announcement post-Olympics, and definitely looks like we're getting close.

That is exciting news! Thanks for posting Vauxhall. Can't wait to find out who it is or rather confirm who everyone assumes it will be. (Adele)

Thanks. Credit to Shrublands rather than me for spotting it, but exciting news certainly appears to be on the way.

If for some reason it turns out not to be Adele, I'm going to float Emeli Sandé as a possible outsider.

Same. While I am not much of a fan of Adele's voice, she certainly seems the obvious candidate, especially after so much, generally positive, hype surrounding the rumour. However I do believe Dame Shirley Bassey *should* be given the job, as she'd still be incredible and uniquely Bond and the 50th anniversary seems the perfect opportunity to give her one more and make it another classic with great composition behind it. The producers will be fully aware of her great reception at the Queen's Jubilee concert, the idea concerning it being an anniversary picture with a lot of retro styling and her full capability to produce music on par with her classics, and easily among the very top Bond songs still, Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker (whatever one may feel about the films).

Maybe the song could have some little oriental elements to both reference one of the principal locations in the film as well as, perhaps, something of a nod to YOLT (my second fave Bond song behind DAF). Some Turkish style touches could blend with this also, though naturally nothing too obvious. Certainly no bagpipes to reference Scotland however :P

I mostly just feel they need to go fully classic on the song - the Bond songs have for a while now been quite lacking IMO. If DAF, for example, had never been written and it was produced today for a modern Bond film it would still sound awesome and timeless. I think most of us have had enough of the dabbling in electric guitars, women basically trying to do the Shirley Bassey thing but poorly and electronica with lazy lyrics.

NOT ADELE,DUFFY OR LINKIN PARK PLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope they find someone fresh. I am more worried about the score? Could they be redoing it? The few scores I have listened to by Thomas Newman and wasn't impressed. Also the theme for Newsroom is flat and boring.

I don't see how it can't be Adele. Splendid choice and the marketing pitch writes itself. Bassey would be cool, if a bit too cool (in the sense that, nothing that amazing ever happens, so why get one's hopes up).

I just hope it's not someone forgettable, or a generic 'emerging' artist on a Sony contract that the larger corporation just wants to get some exposure. It's Bond's 50th, and he deserves the best of the best.

Of course, it's heavily dependent on the song, too. ;)

No. As good a singer as she is, she isn't 'big enough' for Bond, let alone 50th Anniversary Bond.

If I remember correctly and to recap the Adele rumors and what not;

Adele was rumored to be working on a theme song early on in production
Craig suggested to Barbara, "How about Adele?"
and Tones Jones also suggested her.

Is that all of them? and do you think that these are a clear indication that she will be doing it?

More fuel to the fire was…
Adele told Jonathon Ross on his chat show last year, that she was heading back into the studio to record ‘one song’ and that this was ‘a theme.’ She would not say what this was a theme for.
Earlier this year, she told a French radio station that there will be one new song towards the end of the year, but no new album for at least 2 years.
This has all made people speculate as to what could possibly be a theme song from her later this year.

I don't know about a clear indication, but for me, this heavily suggests it is indeed Skyfall.

That Ross interview in particular was telling. It was pretty much a blatantly obvious suggestion that it was Skyfall. He winked at her and hummed the James Bond Theme at one point, and she laughed hysterically like, "Oh, ha, you've caught me, I can't say any more."

It seems likely that either they are just starting to work with someone on the song, or they still haven't decided on anyone yet. They will probably announce the artist once they are almost finished with the production of the song and maybe even the video.

It's the 50th anniversary: Dame Shirley Bassey. Who else ?! The rejected theme for QOS was superb.

THAT'S bondesque ! And for the jubilee we need something special...

It is to bad they didn't have the Bond theme at the beginning of QOS with the gun barrel and played Bassey's reject song during ending credits IMO.

That Bassey song was never 'rejected', it was never submitted, so couldn't have been.

Is it just me....or is there ANYONE out there who agrees that the problems with the music for the last several movies have a common link. David Arnold..
Sorry if you don't agree..but his music IMO is just lame...it's uninspiring...
Two things always got the hairs on the back of my head when a new 007 came out...Opening sequence and the beginning music...
I must give props for Cris Cornell and his song "You know my name"...however IMO gives Arnold a success rate of 20%... Time to reboot the music...
Jack White and Alicia Keys song just stunk it up.... IMO...
