Today there was a guy in the tube with a guitar and another guy with panpipes. Given the particular problems of tube-acoustics the two weren't half bad...

Panpipes? And you mean people weren't trying to murder him?
Quite an achievement in itself.

Oh, they were. The enthusiastically clapping chapter of Hell's Angels made them reconsider, I suppose.

Strange things happening in the tube...

Two things:

First, given the context of some of the known events in the movie, this guy is already thinking of possible ways to incorporate his music video into the film's plot. Ingenious.

Second, I accidentally listened to 'Another Way to Die' yesterday and thought "this needs more panpipes."

So in short - hire him.

Hello all! Long time reader and fan of commanderbond.net. I figured that I would chime in and give my opinion.

This might be a un-conventional choice but Shinedown wouldn't be a bad choice. Brent Smith is an excellent singer and its not all pure rock. Now before you doubt my choice, I would advise you two listen to the songs "Alice" from the Alice a in Wonderland soundtrack and "Call Me" from the Sound of Madness album.

Thoughts?

Highway to Hell, me thinks. Could have been Greensleeves, too. Probably a medley of both.

Second, I accidentally listened to 'Another Way to Die' yesterday and thought "this needs more panpipes."

They really ought to - provided Madonna didn't catch the guy before.

I could actually imagine something like that, not bad at all.

Dame Shirley Bassey with lyrics written by Don Black. If not that then Adele.

Please tell me you're kidding.

I was most certainly kidding. Justin Bieber would be a far better choice.

Well, Adele's pregnant.

Take from that what you will.

Anyone heard of Nina Zilli? She has a very nice Bond vibe with her Eurovision song L'Amore È Femmina.

Rumours going around Twitter that it's Michael Bolton doing the song.

Examples? Just looked through 12 hours of Michael Bolton tweets, nothing to do with Bond or Skyfall yet. I'll keep looking.

I never heard Nina Zilli before but I can see her doing it. You don't mean Michael Buble do you? Cause I remember hearing that one I long time ago but nothing on his tweets either.

Just saw the 1D thing and as much as I love them (Niall <3) I don't think a boy band should be doing a Bond song.

Believe me, I was kidding. The day they do a Bond theme is the day I sell my entire Bond collection and pretend I was never a fan. ;)

All the remaining living ones sing one line each, like that Perfect Day thing a few years back; although that ghastly McCartney tick - whose hair seems to be the same sort of naturalness as this Mr Bardem's character's - will probably hog most of it.

Is this a joke? Dunno.

To counter my joking replies earlier in the thread, how about The Killers? They are a terrific band. Maybe not a band that one thinks of when the term "Bond music" comes about but I don't think people would have predicted Chris Cornell either. They are great songwriters and arrangers and could probably write a memorable theme. A new album is on its way this year so it could be some double promotion. I doubt it'd happen but I'd love it if it did.

So can the Broccolis finally wake up and hire artists that would be more suited to do a Bond theme for once? The last two opening credit Bond theme songs were just not good fits.

My top artist suggestions to do the next theme song in no particular order....

1. Portishead
2. Muse
3. Micahel Buble
4. Massive Attack
5. Radiohead

Any one of these great artistic talents have what it takes to deliver a great and epic Bond theme that would be far more fitting and appropriate for a Bond film, then the last two ill advised choices IMO.

To bad Amy Winehouse is too cracked out to deliver....at one point she would have been a good choice, but she needs to sober up first.

What are your top choices guys and gals?

Now the only question remains is : who WILL perform the title song for "SKYFALL".
That'll be the next big surprise about this movie.
I can't hardly wait...

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Björk would do an amazing job with Paul Newman without sounding generic. I've long been surprised that she's been passed over so long.
