Jimmy Gnecco would be a nice idea too, if the producers want to ROCK things a little.

Personally, I'm recommending Kasabian:

I love every single Bond theme except Tomorrow Never Dies (thank God for Surrender). So, I'm confident that no matter who they pick the song will turn out great, as it usually does.
Really??? Seriously???
The worst theme to date is the theme from DIE ANOTHER DAY. I thought it was comparable to chewing on aluminum foil. As for TOMORROW NEVER DIES, that's one of my favorites among the P.Brosnan themes. Pity they hadn't used it more throughout the film.

Here are my suggestions:
#1: Coldplay! This is the obvious choice!!
Once is happenstance...
#2: Linkin Park
Twice is coincidence...
#4: Coldplay, Coldplay, Coldplay!!!!!!!!!
Three times is enemy action.

No idea whether it's reliable. I just posted it here because I hadn't seen it posted elsewhere. What seems odd to me is the idea that Adele would write the song by herself. Hasn't it been customary for Arnold to co-write it with the singer?
Not necessarily. He didn't co-write the themes from TND, Die Another Day or QOS.

Seriously I love them both, but in my mind it would depend on the 'tone' of the movie, so EON can take it's pick.
There are so many (dare I say) 'reality world' singers out there.
Would be nice to see another action packed Bond without all the fast jump cuts and low-key acting. Bond was fantasy and fun and paved the way for the future. So can we please get off the Bourne wagon, EON.
Sank you.
Cheers,
Ian

So do I.I find it hard to believe that the theme song would be written and recorded before a single frame of the movie is shot.

Well, a theme song may be recorded, but not necessarily the theme song.I find it hard to believe that the theme song would be written and recorded before a single frame of the movie is shot.
When EON put out the open call for artists, interested parties record a demo tape. This won't necessarily be the final song, simply a song that the artist thinks would fit as a Bond theme. All the demo tapes get submitted to EON, who go through them and pick out their preferred artist. That artist gets contacted, and they re-record the song, modify it, or write and entirely new one. This becomes the final theme. The process probably doesn't take a full year, but it's worth noting that David Arnold is working on music for the London Olympics, so the regular timetable has been moved up. And if he wants to incorporate the theme song into the final score, it makes sense to have the theme song at hand early on.

In fact, Adele's comments imply that EON have not asked her specifically to perform the theme. Rather, they suggest that EON have put an open call out for interested artists.

Really? I must have missed that annoucement.

There hasn't been an announcement, but come on. She's an amazing singer and her voice is very suited for a Bond theme. I'd bet my house she gets the gig. If Winehouse were still alive and functioning there'd be stiff competition, but no one comes close to Adele for now.

The article includes quotes from a doctor who treats these kinds of things, but not Adele's doctor. Based on his comments about typical recovery times, it sounds like she should recover in plenty of time to do the theme if she happens to be selected, but recording a demo for submission in the next few weeks seems doubtful (if she hasn't done it already).

So how is is "pretty much confirmed" that she is performing it then? There hasn't been an announcement, but come on. She's an amazing singer and her voice is very suited for a Bond theme.
EON have opened up the bid process to any artist who is interested in submitting a demo tape - and others have begun to express interest in it. You Me at Six have annouced that they're going to do one (I don't have a link; apparently it was contained in a fan newsletter). Adele is by no means assured to get the role.
Assumption is the mother of al screw-ups.

Or why not Grand Funk Railroad? You kids have heard of Grand Funk, right?
If the credits are 10-15 minutes in length, why not Grand Funk. "I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home" is one of my favorite cuts.
Can we resurrect Isaac Hayes and have him score Bond 23?

Really hoping for not having a sound close to that lovely duo for QoS (the non-harmonizing that Keys and White do in that song is really just terrible), or an artist with a terribly scratchy voice like Sheryl Crowe.
