I still would prefer a theme by Elvis Costello and Diana Krall.

Proponents of The Killers for the theme may point to the lyrics from 'This River Is Wild', which include the choice phrase "Watch the clouds fall from the sky". Not much alteration needed there...

More seriously, I'd think someone like Florence and the Machine or Adele will be towards the top of the producers' list. Hasn't been a "big" female voice solely behind the theme for quite some time.

I enjoy the Madonna theme in the same way I enjoy Gladys Knight's theme. Goes great with the title sequence but falls short when listening to it on th radio

Really? I think Licence To Kill's theme was absolutely butchered for the title sequence and doesn't compare to the full version. It's one of my favorites.

Full version is way better but I don't mind the film size.

Garbage's song from TWINE was also cut (by like an entire verse). I think it has to do w/the running time of the title sequence.

The poor cow (Adele) has a haemorrhaged vocal cord that that needs correcting.

As much as i'd love her to do it, she may not be able to.

Except that EON won't take an original song.

Yes, my post above had my tongue very firmly in cheek, based on the usual drivel of speculation we get about theme song artists.

The content of the song would also be deeply inappropriate.

Lykke Li wouldn't be bad choice, reminds in a way of Goldfrapp but I wouldn't mind with Adele. She's a favorite choice for many and she's popular too and it'd be a boost for her and the Bond franchise. She got a good singing voice.

Next singer? Michael G. Wilson.

I want to hear him sing

"Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?" (OHMSS) with kazoo accompaniment
"Wedding Party" (LTK)
"Make it Last All Night" (FYEO) backup vocals: Barbara Broccoli
"Dirty Love" (LTK) Damn, not on youtube. It's the Miami bar fight music.

Any one will make a killer theme song. All of them make a fantastic party album. Let's start the petition!

Or a Wilson and Pierce Brosnan love duet. "You Don't Bring Me Flowers".

Yeah, Radiohead could be quite perfect. I could also imagine Portishead, or a solo effort by Beth Gibbons to work brilliantly.

She'd work, yeah, although I don't think it's very Lykke Li that she'll get it. Wa-hey! See what I did there?

I'd like to see them use Florence; that'd be fun. After they lost out on Kate Bush for Moonraker she'd make up for that in barminess.

How about an instrumental? I know it wont happen since they'll want a single in the charts but On Majesty's Secret Service had an instrumental theme and it's one of the best. Possibly something like this:

Give it a chance at least.

Not bad, but I can't actually see that as a Bond theme. I think you've got a bit too much going on at times, and the music segues too much, too quickly in other places. But still, I love programs like GarageBand - I wasted hours on a uni assignment just playing around with the program to make music for a one-minute animiation.

Is there anything by Adele that actually sounds anything like a Bond theme? Her music isn't something I'm interested in at all otherwise.

Remember, Sheena Easton's claim to fame was "Morning Train" prior to FYEO. Sometimes it's about who's hot, while a Bond film is in (pre)-production.

None of her songs is particularly Bondian per se. But her voice is Bondian in a stereotypical, Shirley Bassey-inspired way, so if she were given a Bondian song to sing, the result would presumably be double-plus-Bondian. Also, she's reasonably fresh and trendy, with an air of artistic legitimacy and (thus far) an absence of personal hot-mess-itude. There's also a sense that the producers need to nab her while they can, before she becomes too big a star, or alternatively before she becomes tarnished or passe.

Noel Gallagher is also rumoured. I really liked Oasis, kinda lost track of him as a solo-artist. Seems a bit unlike, but so was Chriss Cornell.

They haven't always gone for someone super popular, but have they ever gone for someone who used to be far more popular and whose star has since fallen? I don't see what Noel Gallagher would bring to the table apart from the impression that the producers are out of touch.

I´d rather go for a performer, preferably female, with a fantastic voice, singing a song composed by the score composer with a melody that is part of the score - and not a hot group that wants to do "their own thing". Sorry.

It would be great if they could integrate the theme song and the score more closely, as in the old days.

Arcade Fire.

Love Arcade Fire, I think they would do an awesome job, and it would be awesome considering Arcade Fire is Canadian! A little bit of Canada would be in Bond :cooltongue:

This is also interesting, take a look,

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/3945757/And-after-all-youre-my-Thunderball.html

It says ex-oasis star Noel Gallagher is going to be meeting with the producers to discuss the next Bond theme possibly,

"Nothing is signed or official, it's just being discussed at the moment."

Noel also said that his song "Freaky Teeth" would make a "[censored]ing great Bond theme"

Here's freaky teeth,

I know, I was so relieved to see that it was a tabloid story with no real details. I wouldn't hire Noel Gallagher to play at a Bar Mitzvah.

Neither would I - but the story does make it clear that Gallagher would be writing it rather than performing it.

The lyrics remind me of You Know My Name,

The angels are coming down
On the darkness on the edge of town
They came to steal the lightning from the sky

The push might just come to shove
And your love might not be enough
To free you from the fears that paralyse

Yet they used to love you for the way
You sang your soul
Now they've come to claim you through the night
The ghosts have come to steal the light outta your eyes

It's the horror
When your wife
Cuts your heart out
With a knife
And they left you for the dogs
To lick your bones

They made you cry the rain
But they love you just the same
Before your God
And the Devil
Took your soul

Tell me what did you bequeath
To the girl with the freaky teeth
When, she showed you things she'd stolen from the queen

She'll have your heart's desire
And she danced back into the fire
With the holy men that stole your tambourine

Heaven's gonna help you through the waves
Save your soul
Now they're gonna help you through the night
You go to go to steal whatever you like

It's the horror
When your wife
Cuts your heart out
With a knife
And they left you for the dogs
To lick your bones

They made you cry the rain
But they love you just the same
Before your God
And the Devil
Took your soul

It's the horror
When your wife
Cuts your heart out
With a knife
And they left you for the dogs
To lick your bones

They made you cry the rain
But they love you just the same
Before your God
And the Devil
Took your soul

Before your God
And the Devil
Took your soul

Before your God
And the Devil
Took your soul

Before your God
And the Devil
Took your soul
