Now we just need a more convincing Bond to suit this modern era... Vin Diesel anyone? Ice Cube?

Lady Linn and her Magnificent Seven (Belgium)
Lissen to: Love affair, I Don't Wanna Dance, Bye Bye, Ain't you heard

Rob D. His Speed Me Towards Death is a You Only Live Twice style with also a bit QOS and Live and Let die (Bus - Police chase).

Eyes Set To Kill - Beauty through broken glass / Give You My All / The World Outside. Lyriss style of Casino Royale / QOS. I choose them for the more balad style music and the singing and the lyrics. Also because the discription why there have this name is intresting and very CR and QOS releated

http://en.wikipedia....yes_Set_to_Kill
The band is called Eyes Set to Kill because it was derived from a line out of Alexia's poem in High School. The poem was about a criminal whose eyes were set to kill, and how determined he was to reach his goal. The phrase "when eyes set to kill" means to be really determined and strive for what you believe in, and not giving up on the dream for anything or anyone

Sharleen Spiteri - All The Times I Cried / Stop, I Don't Love You Anymore
She whas also in the group Texas, lissen to: I'll See It Through.

De Phazz (Germany)
Earlier sugest by me, but on that moment only The Mambo Craze (Dr No style) whas intresting. Now there is more: North West(DAF,MR,QOS),Astrud Astronette (DAF,MR) and My Society.

Rihanna - Russian Roulette

And to reminder:

Robbie Williams. Millennium / Bodies (Videoclip is a bit QOS)
Nina Person & David Arnold. Theme From Randall & Hopkirk
Duffy. Rain On Your Parade

Shirley Bassey, her album The Performance had a fantastic selection of Bond-ish tracks and her voice is stronger than ever. Alternatively, I always liked the Tony Christie/Robbie Williams rumour so either of them would also be good IMO. Michael Buble, Paul McCartney or Jamie Cullum would all be good choices.

To my fellow MI6ers, not to sound like a broken recored, but:

Natasha Khan / Bat For Lashes
Beverly Knight

2 different sounds, both i'd love to see (make that hear) have a crack at a Bond song.

I still think it's silly that Depeche Mode and Elton John have been neglected for Bond songs, after so many years in the business.

Something slow, atmospheric and brooding with odd instrumentation might be nice. Think Goldfrapp circa Felt Mountain. Or the good Major's good idea, Natscha Khan. EON has stuck to a surprisingly traditional sound for their songs considering the abundance of unique and evocative noises out there.

Another cool idea, I think, would be something like Enemy by Chris Cornell. (Yes, it's one of his Timbaland songs.) Something booming that still has room to breathe.

Anybody see this on the Royal Variety Performance the other night...?

http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Bondian? Not much! I now have a new horse I'm backing for Bond 23's opening theme. If they were to use Bublé and if Arnold - that is, if he turns out to be the film's composer - could come up with something genuinely satisfyingly melodic, as well as throwing in all the big-band, Barry-esque flourishes he so likes (such as those all present and correct in this terrific version of an old classic), then we could be really on to something, methinks. Frankly, if they could get as close as possible to recreating this very song, it'd be pretty damn awesome over a Bond film's opening credits. Not just that, but Bublé seems to be everywhere right now - he genuinely seems to have crossed over into the mainstream from being the 'new Harry Connick Jr' he was a few years ago. In short, him doing a Bond theme would probably shift some units.

Plus, following the last two rock themes the series has had, a solid, more classic-style Bond opening theme could helpfully play a part in positioning Bond 23 for the audience as a break from the 'Vesper story'-driven double that was CR and QOS - as we know, it looks like that's what Eon and Craig'll be trying o do with next one...

Here is a sampling from his album from last year

Susan Boyle tipped for next Bond outing

Susan Boyle has reportedly been backed to sing the theme song for the next James Bond movie.

An internet campaign has been launched to ensure that the Britain's Got Talent phenomenon is awarded the title track for the 23rd 007 instalment.

Bond theme composer Monty Norman told the Sunday Express: "She has the right kind of sweeping voice."

The movie, which is due out in 2011, will be Daniel Craig's third outing as the British secret agent following 2006's Casino Royale and last year's Quantum Of Solace.

Agreed.

Of all the suggestions that have been made for title song performer, this would be the one that would probably be the worst.

Honestly, though, I think that, at this point, given EON' current track record with title songs as well as the absolute lack of any musical talent in the industry currently, EON would be better off ditching the idea of the title song and either losing the title sequence altogether or just having David Arnold compose an instrumental piece.

One can only hope that they are as successful. But, the good news is that, now that this artist has been rumored this early in the process, it virtually guarantees that she won't be performing the title song.

Certainly a good point.

See, I don't much like the idea of her doing a Bond theme either. I don't particularly feel that looks matter so much for this purpose. It's not like we typically see the singer, and K.D. Lang did a knock out job with a Bond song (the excellent Surrender) not too long ago... unless you fellows think she looks particularly Bondian.

Posted Image
Pictured: Bondian?

No, my objection to Boyle has not a thing to do with her appearance (which I suspect some may be immediately thinking of). Just the whole vibe she gives off, and the style of music she seems to specialize in, does not lend itself well to Bond in my estimation. I don't listen to any of her stuff, but she has my respect... all the same, I don't want her anywhere near Bond.

SUSAN Boyle is riding high in the album charts — but it seems some punters want to DESTROY her hit record.
According to retail giant Amazon, customers have been snapping up copies of I Dreamed A Dream — along with electronic SHREDDING BINS.

The Britain's Got Talent sensation's debut album, which has spent four weeks at number one, is listed as "Frequently Bought Together" with the Texet Cross-Cut Shredder 12-Litre Waste Bin.

The unlikely pair can be bought for just £22.67, according to the site's automatic shopping advisor.

SuBo fan Lucy Daley, 23, of Hither Green, South London, said: "I've seen some unusual suggestions on Amazon before, but this takes the biscuit.

"I can only assume some people have been buying the shredder in case they don't like the album, so they can dispose of it quickly."

- No B) Sherlock.

Damn peculiar.

Frankly, I think it's a bit absurd... if people were to consider doing such a thing, there are a whole lot of Britney Spears albums out there that, you know, actually deserve such a fate.

I imagine this comes down to that whole looks thing again.

Even though it'll never happen (as neither are really major marketable names in the industry anymore, at least in terms of the ability to sell the number of albums that current "artists" are capable of selling), I'd like to see either Eric Clapton or Steve Perry tackle a Bond theme (or, perhaps both of them together, Perry singing and Clapton on guitar). Again, it won't happen, but I'd find either of them to be vastly superior to any of the younger rock acts that would be more likely possibilities for the job.
