GAVIN and STACEY: Season One

A British version of Dharma and Greg, somewhat.

Funny show. Nothing ground breaking. But I find myself learning more and more about England with all of these BBC comedies. I didn't realize Wales was the British equivalent of Jersey Shore....or Long Island <shudder>.

I think I saw the first episode and was pretty good but I find Coupling to be one of the best British comedies I have ever seen.

Chuck

I am still not sure if I actually liked this episode. Sure there were some stuff I liked and found funny and stuff I did not like but I am not sure where this show is headed because its not what I expected but I don't think this is a good thing

Caprica

Only have seen the first episode of Battlestar Galatica, this being the prequel of that show, but I really found this to be a smart science fiction and will be watching more episodes to come.

No argument here. I thought it was an awful episode, the second worst of the series (the worst of the series coming in the last episode prior to this Monday's debacle). Sadly, it appears as though Chuck is a lock to earn a fourth season (according to EW.com), which is something that it certainly doesn't deserve, based on the free-fall in quality as well as the sheer stupidity of the writing.

I watched 13 episodes of Glee in two days. stare.gif

Yeah... I guess I'm one of those people who wishes their life could be more like a musical.

Can't wait for April when this show returns. With Dexter not picking up again until Fall and Chuck's quality in free-fall, it'll be nice to have some good, quality original programming to tune into.

I always wanted to see Glee but I am not a big fan of musicals just ones that are well done and are not just about the singing but if Glee is like this then maybe I will have to start watching the show.

Glee hasn't been entirely about the music through its first 13 episodes. It's really more of an over-the-top comedy/drama (actually kind of similar to what Chuck used to be in terms of that comedy/drama hybrid, although with a much more sarcastic sensibility to it than Chuck) that features a couple of musical numbers per episode.

I would suggest checking out at least to see Jane Lynch's performance, as she's just simply amazing on the show. She's what drew me into the show, as I never would have watched it if it hadn't been for her one-liners in the promos leading up to the pilot. Since I've started watching it, though, what keeps me around is the performance of Lea Michele, who is one of the most gifted performers I've seen in quite a while. Her comedic ability is phenomenal, and she is, at least IMO, the best female vocalist currently out there.

I´m a "Chuck"-newbie, having only watched the first season yet. I bought the second season set based on my fondness for Season One. So, your dislike of Season Three worries me. Is the show really getting totally different from the first two seasons?

Quatermass and the Pit

I still prefer the Hammer version, but then that is one of the 10 best SF films ever made. The BBC TV original has its charms though.

Extra! Episode 8. Sam kisses Annie and reveals his feelings for her! Sacha is attracted to Sam because he's rich. How shallow. Nico gets tired of the clingy substitute concierge.

Sadly it certainly seems that Season Three of the show is pretty inconsistent from the way the show has been written. I still watch it because its still entertaining but some of the plot lines are getting pretty annoying especially considering the past two great seasons. I really disliked the ending of the last episode...

Watched lots of Futurama this week because it's been a tiring one and want something not terribly challenging, but also not terribly terrible and preferably terribly good.

It's gotten pretty bad, to be honest. I loved the first two seasons, and actually found Season 2 to be one of the best seasons of TV I'd ever seen. So, if you enjoyed Season 1, you'll absolutely love Season 2, I think.

That's what makes Season 3 so disappointing. Over the first two seasons, the characters were what really got me engaged in the show. They are great characters. In Season 3, though, I've come to outright despise most of the characters, save for Casey (who is still brilliant, even in ridiculously little screen time), which really disappoints me because I still really like the actors who play them (Strahovski and Baldwin in particular). The writers have made each of the characters act so ridiculously out of character this season that they're almost new characters that have been dropped into the series.

It's sad, really, especially now that it's a virtual lock that we're getting more of this nonsense next year as it looks like the show will be picked up for a fourth season.

Chuck: FINALLY, a good episode!!! Last night's episode was the first good episode of this show since May 2009. I'm not sure how this episode would rank amongst the best of the series, as it may be a case of a mediocre episode being elevated by the fact that it's followed on the heals of 8 straight horrifically bad episodes, but it's a good episode nonetheless.

Castle: The show maintained its usual high quality for yet another week. I'm glad to see it's numbers are on the rise and looks like a lock to continue for a third season.

I would have liked to have seen that too, but I think that it fit in with her character "arc" at this point, in that I don't think that she particularly likes Chuck (nor should she, really) at this point in time.

Last night's episode does not, however, redeem Season 3 in any way. The characters are still acting out of character in this most recent episode, but this episode actually managed to feign some kind of quality while being build on the horrid foundation that they've built Season 3 on.
