My TV usually stays on Turner Classic Movies.

I wish I could tell Time Warner that it's the only channel I want to pay for.

Tried watching the debut of JUSTIFIED, wanting to like it. Five minutes into it, I had a graphic illustration of the importance of compelling characterization: I just didn't like the lead or have the slightest interest in spending any time with him. Didn't watch another minute.

Matt Houston-"A Deadly Parlay." Lynn Holly Johnson guest starred as a female jockey in love with the hero, Matt Houston. Sounds very familiar to her Bibi Dahl role, i.e., Olympic ice skater in love with the hero, James Bond. Interestingly enough, her guest role is very brief.

HUMAN TARGET. Banzai. Smashing entry re the mixed martial arts scene. The lead actor still seems a little light weight, but the scripts are good, the stunts are great and the production values are simply out of sight.

Damages, latest episode of the 3rd season: so far this season rocks! Much better than the 2nd.

I agree. The Ponzi scheme, which had been my greatest reservation (been there, seen that), has turned into a dark delight that just keeps getting darker. I do hope the evil witch in Patty Hewes' heart comes back to us quickly, though, for a jolting glimpse or two.

The scene where Frobisher brought the Hollywood pair in to meet Patty was hilarious! You knew Patty was going to verbally destroy him the moment he sat down.

Chuck

I actually liked the new episode a lot and at least the secret between Chuck and Casey was cleared up and I found the plot twist related to Shaw was very surprising at least to me and I do think its a good set up for the next episode.

I liked the last few minutes of the episode, but felt like the rest of it was rather uneventful. It felt as though the only action (of any kind, not just limited to just typical action sequences) was Shaw
Spoiler
Other than that, it did not feel like much of anything else actually happened in the episode.

Ah, yes, Frobisher. I'm hoping they make some further, really ingenious use of him.

Castle: Yet another brilliant episode, and a thrilling conclusion to last week's episode. This one featured, without a doubt, the best performances by Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion on this show. Hopefully the ratings that this two part episode has gotten will make the writers consider more multi-episode arcs like this in the future. I'm also hoping that more networks follow ABC's lead on this, as the network gave the show another chance this season despite it being in danger of cancellation, and now that decision appears to be paying dividends as the ratings have been on a steady upwards climb for most of the season.

Some fantastic TV news:

ABC Renews 'Castle'

As I said in my last post in this thread, I think that ABC did a great job in the development of this series. It struggled in the ratings in Season 1 and was on the bubble as of May last year, but they gave it another chance rather than making it one of the many shows that got axed way before its time, and now its flourishing. NBC should take a look at ABC's model here and apply it to the development of some of their shows (Chuck, perhaps).

I´m halfway through and must say: I LOVE THIS SHOW. Funny, exciting, even emotional at times - this is perfect entertainment. Better even than Season One.

Agreed. The ratings for the last 2 weeks of Castle have been the best of the series so far. Last weeks episode (part 1) got a higher rating than a new episode of CSI Miami for the first time since the show has been on.

I read somewhere that the second part of the two-parter was ABC's highest rated performance in that timeslot since 1996, which, if true, is surely a large part of the reason that the announcement of the series' renewal came just a day or so later.

Anyway, I just can't say enough how thrilled I am that there's at least one network out there that has shown that they're willing to actually develop and stand by a quality show rather than just cancelling it after just a few airings. I think that a lot of of networks would have probably cancelled the show after the first season due to its ratings, but ABC stuck by it and now that decision and the further support the network has given the show has resulted in the show being the big hit that it has become.

Ghost Whisperer Season 4.

My g/f was very distressed at the series-changing development in the 6th episode.

Watching some season 1 episodes of CASTLE. I think that the brilliance of season 1, has been lost a bit in the publicity that the show has been getting for it's rising ratings in season 2. Season 2 has been a big improvement over season 1, but the first season was still a very strong set of episodes on their own merits. I can't wait for season 2 to come out on DVD to have a marathon of all 32 episodes that will have aired at that point.

Chuck: Finally, an episode from season 3 that can stand with the very best of the series. It's a shame that they had to wait for the episode that was meant to be the season finale (before NBC decided to extend season 3 by another six episodes). Hopefully the final six episodes of this season keep this same high quality going, because this is the type of episode that season 3 should have featured more of, and an episode that really should have come sometime around the fifth episode or so of this season, and it's an episode like this that actually makes me want to keep watching the show, which no other season 3 episode has managed to do.
