I was expecting Shaun to pop up. I liked that I could tell it was live though.

Haha, yeah there were a few momentsd where I felt it was a bit obvious, but it was a much better quality than one of The Bill's live episodes a few years ago where the whole thing was really badly filmed!

There were quite a few moments tonight when I could tell something went wrong. Jack Branning was stuttering at the start of the episode, there was a wobbly camera when it zoomed into Stacey towards the end. I enjoyed Max Branning's horrendous coughing/crying fit, as well.

I tell you what though, I thought the "home video" was a great touch! I loved that.

Yes, It was. Was it actually behind the scenes footage from the 80's they clobbered together? So It looked like it was filmed from a hand held camera? Or was it just footage from old episodes that were transmitted?
I think it was just clips from old episodes, hence why they cut them so quickly so as to avoid it looking like old footage and more like hand-held stuff. If you notice, none of the characters look into the camera, so that's why I think it's clips from the oldies.

I have heard good things about Robin Hood but I have never seen it but I have seen both the original Prisoner and the remake and I really like the original because every episode is entertaining and witty unlike the remake which is very serious and is stlll good but its one of those shows you have to pay attention to every detail to fully understand unlike the original.
Just finished the first episode of the first season of the original PRISONER. Weird.By the way I hate how with Netflix on their basic plan when you get done with the first disc of a TV show box set you have to wait a couple of days to get the next one.
I'm not sure what plan you are on, but until you return a disc you can't get a new one. Well, actually, for every disc they receive, they usually send out a new disc the same day. I live in a big, metropolitan area, so I send a disc back to the distribution center on Monday afternoon, it is received and processed the following morning, and by Tuesday afternoon a new disc is on its way out the door and I receive it on Wednesday. If you are on a 3 or 4 disc plan, then you'll always have a disc at home, a disc in the mail, and a disc at the warehouse ready to be shipped, not to mention the streaming you can do through Netflix now.
I love Netflix. They simply have a much better selection than all of their competitors. And Netflix gives you the uncensored, unedited versions of movies, not the watered down crap that Blockbuster tries to sell. If you want original, uncut versions of movies, especially foreign films, you have to go with Netflix.
I see what you mean but since I only have the one disc at a time plan it doesn't work as well for me.

The nearest I can think of as a UK equivalent of Jersey Shore is Brighton. I've never seen Gavin & Stacey (although I've heard it's good) so I don't know how it portrays Wales but I wouldn't compare it to the places you've mentioned. It's closest US relative would probably be the Appalachian Mountains.GAVIN and STACEY: Season One
A British version of Dharma and Greg, somewhat.
Funny show. Nothing ground breaking. But I find myself learning more and more about England with all of these BBC comedies. I didn't realize Wales was the British equivalent of Jersey Shore....or Long Island <shudder>.

Well pretty much any town in Britain could be the equivalent of Jersey Shore, especially at pub closing time.

WOW. Well Wales does have an actual city or two, I'd say it's more like Pennsylvania with a coastline.

Oi, we're not that threadbare. In my experience Wales is more like New Jersey. It's just kind of there.

Well isn't there a "North Wales" plus other suspiciously Welsh-sounding places like "Bryn Mawr" in PA? So somebody else previously must have thought they were alike!

Philadelphia area has a lot of Welsh names because we had a lot of Welsh and Scottish settlers along with the English. And you'll find plenty of names pretty much ripped from England, Ireland, etc. in PA, too, as well as towns with names of other states. Really I think Pennsylvanians were just unoriginal bastards and decided to name wherever they plunked down after the last place they came from. Although that doesn't quite account for the high Amish/Dutch presence in the vicinity of Lancaster. But the point stands to reason, given it's much the same for places in the others of the original thirteen.
Yeah, you can tell the influence of Old England upon many of the states in New England and surrounding areas. Doesn't Pennsylvania have "townships" instead of counties?
No, we have counties. Township is just kind of a commune of places that people decided were too small to be their own town and close enough together to support one another. I do a bad job of explaining it. Probably because it's just kind of second nature to me, having grown up in one. We have townships, boroughs, etc. and only one actual town. Villages and hamlets and the like, but only one place that's been awarded town status. I imagine there are places that could qualify as a town, but Bloomsburg is the only place to actually be recognized as a town.
What I wish we had here in The South are some of the more classier names that I see listed in England, such as: Stratford-upon-Avon...Southend-on-Sea....Knights Bridge, etc...America doesn't really have any interesting sounding names. It's just Atlanta or tsburgh.
happens I guess.
BTW, been in Pennsylvania a couple of times. Spent about 3 nights in Allentown, but also spent a night skiing the slopes of Camelback up in The Poconos (nice resort). Pennyslvanians are good people, except for the people in Philadelphia. You coulds drop a nuculur bomb on dem people and I wouldn't give a rat's . Philadelphia has some of da dirtiest, foulest, rudest, most disgustin' sports fans in da world. These people snowballed Santa Clause one year at an Eagles game, I believe. Philadelphians: Scum of da Earth.
Eh, I like going into Philly. Not my favorite city ever but a nice enough place, if you know what neighborhoods to avoid. Never actually been in Allentown proper, other than driving through. Grandparents do live pretty much right on the fringe, though. Glad you enjoyed being in our neck of the woods, though.
Anywho on topic with the thread, sort-of watching Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Never really liked the show, but there's nothing else on right now, and I'm biding my time until Caprica.
