Thank you. That's very kind of you.Too right, fellas. Listen to the smart man. Nothing hotter than a guy who has his head on straight.

Damn right.Anyone who disagrees and calls me "a ignorant bitch" will have to go through Bondian.
Laterz....

He-he. Actually I don't know. Thought I was a Python expert, but I'm not too sure now. LOLBondian, you are a genius! Meaning of Life, no? Ahh, good times, good times.
Mate. Please relax. Nobody is having a go at YOU. Take a leaf from Bond, and keep your head. You post some great stuff, so keep your "(add country here) end up".I can't believe this. I just can't believe this. I got off the net so I cool off for a bit then I come back and what is happening now ? It's like every single god dman little thing in my life annoys me. The annoying customers at Wal-mart, my pain in the
sister, and now here. What the

Perhaps you should goyourself?
We're discussing the song here and some of us neutrals are getting tired of your flame war with the others here.
I'm getting pissed at you all of a sudden. Take it to pm and off this thread, ok?
So,off!
Sweeties, it's going to be fine. Just get your squabbling little behinds (separately) to the nearest (respectively) liquor stores and buy some Absolut Limone.
You will absolutely LOVE each other when you're done knocking back those shots. And, Mister E, if your sister won't leave you alone, tell her you will drop-kick her

I would. But, Gordon Brown has decided to have a mass cull of anyone born before 1962 so he can concentrate on more pressing issues, like having a haircut, and will Mrs Brown still be prepared to bare (col. bore) his children when she's dead."boys, with noise".I can't believe this. I would of course love to run as President. But it's the standing still that would concern me.

Just kidding.

That said, Another Way to Die is probably the biggest phone-in in the history of Bond themes. Okay, second after Die Another Day. The version at ThirdManRecords.com is the best, and the song is inspired, I'll give it that, but Jack White should have been there only as a producer. Lyrics suck, his singing sucks, and White Stripes suck in general (great, I probably started another arguement). Keys saves it and should have gone solo.
Not only that, sorry if this has been mentioned, but I really dont see it fitting with the tone of the film. Given, we've only seen trailers and BTS clips, but I'm just not feeling the mesh between the two.
I'm stil witing for the day that the lyrics start right up, and we dont get the obligatory 30 second intro for the credits.

Thats sounds so much better compared to the BBC crap. I hope that this is what they'll play in the movie!I did a quick skim on the thread and didn't see this....so, here you go http://www.thirdmanrecords.com/ .....I like this mix the best if not identical to the boombox site. Still ehhhh if you ask me.

So, your critical evaluation consists of one word in particular - sucks.

Once again, I find it perfectly fine if someone dislikes anything or this song for instance. I do have my issues with it as well.
But just to say the lyrics suck - no, that is just not the case. Look at the very clever rhyme pattern. Think about the ironic detachment of the speaker´s perspective. This could very well be written from Greene´s standpoint.
Let´s face it - nobody could write a song for a Bond film anymore that everybody likes.

Is it me, or are the verse chords same as the chorus chords to YKMN?

You've pinpointed exactly how I feel. Somewhere within, there's a perfectly acceptable, if safe, song.
You want a safe song; Mister E thinks it's too safe. How are they supposed to please everyone?
I suggest you re-read my post and pay particular atention to the use of the commas. My use of "if safe" in that context did not denote a desire; it was a comment on the song, which I feel is safe in its oh-so careful mission to be cutting-edge.
Oh my goodness- they're playing it safe by being cutting edge i.e playing it unsafe? So in order to please you and not play it safe; they should play it safe and just repeat what they've done before.
Safe is the new unsafe; I must remember that.
My head is spinning.
Well, now you're just being plain silly. The point I'm making - which should be clear to even the most intellectually-challenged - is that this song isn't cutting edge in the slightest. It's a corporate suit's idea of what cutting edge should sound like and in that sense there's nothing radical or groundbreaking about it at all. Now how difficult is it to grasp that concept?
And I do wish you'd actually read my posts before flaming me. For the record (again), I don't hate AWTD, although I am underwhelmed by it. However I do apologise for my mistake in joining this thread: I wasn't aware one was only allowed to take part in the discussion if one was prepared to sing unwavering praise about the song and I hadn't realised that expressing even the mildest criticism or reservation about it leaves one open to getting dumped on from a great height.

Not sure if this is the video or the song played over clips but a chance to hear the song through decent speakers will make my opinion complete.

The Guitar solo sounds similar to 'The End Of An Aston Martin' from CR

Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn, but I think the dumping seems to be more on posters trying to get their heads around the pompous, snobbery littered throughout this thread especially towards a certain generation and genre.
Fair comment, but please - everyone - this is "Do you like the song?", not "Do you like each other?".
Do you like the song?

I voted OK. The standard is Shirley, Carly, Paul. Then there's Nancy, Matt, Tom. This, IMO, I don't like as much.

Then this fabulous movie called CR came with some of the most bizzarre scenes I've ever seen aka that torture scene. It really appealed to my taste for everything awkward and chaotic. I think YKMN did a great job for expressing the new Craig Bond, forceful, energetic, straightforward, slightly idealistic. It had energy but still the melody to it. But after the events of CR it cant be the same. Qos Bond throws the melody of his soul away, he's still trying to be suave, bed girls, he has his Aston Martin and utters the famous line (I still hope he won't) but the fact is HE'S NOT THE SAME as in CR, just like he's no Connery, no Lazenby, no Moore, no Dalton, of course no Brosnans Bond, (with all the Bourne comparisons he's NOT him as well), respect for classic Bond is here but the risk is so tempting. If you risk once, then you risk twice and its very hard to stop. The producers now, I think, are not afraid of negative response.
And that's why they hired Jack White. But they werent brave enough to let him do it alone. They added Keys I still suppose just to add a Sony artist. I feel sorry for a brilliant singer and musician as her, she used 0,1% of her talent here. I'm hoping for the continuation of their collaboration without the weight on their shoulders 'to be Bond'. They were trying to add Bondish elements but in such chaotic and unsettling form and, I think, on purpose, to show the conflict inside him after CR, and the conflict between classic Bond he's trying to be and the fact he is Daniel's version of him, still very controversial and not for everyone, not safe. And Jack White screams accordingly "I'm Jack White for Gods sake!! Deal with IT" Bravo Jack! His ego equalls Bond's. Not much room in this elevator for anything else

PS with my post I dont try to change anyone's negative opinion.
Maybe just my love for overanalizing things, excuse me.

Not really. AWTD is average. In my opinion, this song is nowhere near as good as YKMN musically or lyrically. It will come down to the title sequence integration for me.Do you like the song?

Yes. And no. And yes. And no...
It's a Curate's Egg of a track. Parts of it are good. And parts I'd prefer not to spread on my soldiers.

In plain english; first I liked it. But now I'm deeply in love with the track.
It's a Jack White song and it's also a good Bond Tune. I liek!
I may also explain how familiar I'm with Jack's work. The short answer would be; not that familiar. Sure I liked Seven Nation Army and many of the later songs. But my first bought The White Stripes record was their last effort 'Icky Thump', which I didn't like all that much. The album was a mixed bag and some of the songs were just annoying. That's what you'll get when you buy an album after hearing couple of the better songs on youtube. But like I said he's written and performed many great tracks. AWTD is great in that sense that it's fairly good Jack White song and without being a Bassey-rip off, it's also very bondian theme. Just like LALD, a theme song that did it's own thing and didn't try to rip off Bassey.
And BTW, I also loved all the Bassey tunes, Tina Turner's Bassey-rip off and K.D Lang's Bassey-rip off. Sometimes it's just better to do it differently and not to follow the trend setters in the bond movies. We've had enough of the Bassey-ones. Let's give these 'new kidz' a chance to craft a tune that sounds like them.
Not everyone will always be satisfied. I've been satisfied. Twice. In a row.
(*ahem*)
